"Remix Revolution" works perfectly.
I remember when Madonna remixes were events.
You went out on a Saturday night hoping to hear the latest remix that had been sent to clubs.
The dancefloor would fill to capacity.
No other artist was remixed as much as Madonna at the time.
They werent just remixes, they were reinterpretations of her songs, sometimes given a whole new energy.
You sought out the promos, asked the DJ for a copy, as some were rare.
Electronic music was brought to the forefront and those remixes gave dance music the respectability it deserved (it wasnt taken seriously at the time, it being relegated to clubs and Friday night radio shows) and the visibilty it needed.
Radio and clubs alike played a remix because it was Madonna.
So yes...Remix Revolution, kiddies.
I was there.

jemboy1973 reacted to Karma in Was Gambler originally planned to be released in the US?
Totally. I bet "Into The Groove" would've gone #1 on the Hot 100, she had that Midas touch in the 80s.
I think her U.S label was too conservative. They wanted to avoid "overexposure" and were afraid that her soundtrack singles would overshadow the Like A Virgin campaign. Ideally, they should have reissued the album with "Groove", "Crazy" and "Gambler" to maximize its sales.
In the U.K, they made the right call capitalizing on the huge demand, her 1985 chart run is nothing short of incredible.
January: #3 Like A Virgin
March: #3 Material Girl
June: #2 Crazy For You
July: #1 Into The Groove
August: #2 Holiday (Re-Entry)
September: #5 Angel
October: #4 Gambler
December: #5 Dress You Up
January '86: #2 Borderline (Re-Entry)

We were really spoiled in the U.K. getting this as a single and into the groove - we got nice vinyl releases too and I loved the artwork too - I have gambler sheet music and it’s one of my favourites . I can only think it wasn’t released because Warner didn’t want any songs to interfere with LAV album sales sane as into the groove

jemboy1973 got a reaction from Bjonkers in Was Gambler originally planned to be released in the US?
I didn't realise until the internet years that it was not released in the USA as it was a reasonably big hit here in the UK.
I was quite obsessed with it at the time. It was on a jukebox and I nearly got punched in the face for playing it repeatedly.
I do hope it gets some recognition with the upcoming re-releases, but won't be surprised if it doesn't.

I love this album. its mixed well. The sound is awesome on the Japan Release.

jemboy1973 reacted to DoneGone in Finally Enough Love: 50 Number Ones
I love the mixing there! (It was a single CD, by the way, not double ).
I 100% think it's gonna be that: a whole 75-80 minute mixed album with selections of all the 50 Dance #1 songs plus maybe some surprises in between ("Frozen" remix with Swae Lee?). AND I'M HERE FOR IT.
Check the format, it's really cool. And also very "You Can Dance" and "Confessions" mixed CD style.

jemboy1973 reacted to steady75 in Your Opinion on True Blue
Her first concept album. I have a theory that Like A Virgin was too actually but that's deep and for another time.
The Rebel With A Cause.
The 50's imagery. The leather jacket, The first real lean into her Italian Heritage. White Heat, Jimmy Jimmy and True Blue being the tracks that themed that record along with the Papa video imagery. Those blockbuster singles two of which having profound message. Flawless artwork for album and singles, Incredible videos for ALL of the singles which we previously hadn't had. Adult contemporary Madonna and her first forays into club dance music with the Open Your Heart 12" remix. La Isla being her most lasting and defining hit. The Poison Penns the Michael Jackson rivalry, her first real save the world anthem performed at Live Aid in Love Makes The World Go Round. Her first fully delivered era really. What's not to love?
It's a perfect time capsule of the time and if you're viewing it through a Madonna 2022 lens or even just a 90's lens it's not gonna stack up to later projects. But as a stepping stone for the time. It was flawless. Remember her fans were largely between 10 and 15 yrs old at this time and this was 1986. None of them wanted a Kate Bush sounding art piece. This was primetime Saturday Night popcorn and heavy petting 50's teenage rebellion where idealistic love, bad boys, partying, acting out, teenage pregnancy , unrequited love and summer holiday romances were the subject matter ......and the world was all the better for it.
Get into it

jemboy1973 reacted to wtg1987 in True Blue (Remix Edit) ...what does she say at the end?
Doesn’t she say artists are here to disturb the peace ?

jemboy1973 reacted to scamper in True Blue (Remix Edit) ...what does she say at the end?
I've always been obsessed with the "extra lyrics" of her remixes and I can't find some of them but years ago I asked in other forum and the answer I had was
"Gee whiz! Nobody’s paying any attention to me!"
You were almost right!
-
jemboy1973 reacted to Ziploc in True Blue (Remix Edit) ...what does she say at the end?
I think you'll find it's called Get Into The Groove ?
-
jemboy1973 got a reaction from HYMY in True Blue (Remix Edit) ...what does she say at the end?
I have always wanted to know what she says exactly for years but I am sure I have always said them wrong.
So I know "Hey You guys" then I'd always gone with "Big Wizz"??? then "no ones paying any attention to me".
For years I also sang "These stars in heaven happen to me everyday" from Into the Groove but obviously that makes no sense.
Thanks for any clarification.

jemboy1973 reacted to MPowered in Drowned World/Substitute for Love [BT & Sasha's Bucklodge Ashram Edit] 4:15
Hey, so I found some obscure release of this remix as edit which is 4:19 long. I've always wanted a proper edit of this mix for my own version of "GHV2 Remixed". Therefore, I've decided to create my own edit that just so happens to have almost the same length as the """official""" edit. I'm guessing that one might be similar then.
It turned out so well that I decided to share it with you guys (in FLAC of course)!

jemboy1973 reacted to litemakr in DL: Into the Groove Demo Reconstruction Mix - NEW 2022 Version
This is a reconstruction of the demo version of Into the Groove played during the end credits of Desperately Seeking Susan, created from the multitrack. I spent a lot of time making it match as closely as possible to create an HQ version of the demo. It uses the original bass and drum sounds and none of the instruments which were changed or added to the released mix or the Shep Pettibone mix.
4/8/22 UPDATE: This is a newly revised 2022 version which is closer to the sound of the demo version. This is my 3rd version and I think the final and best.
I hope you like it. Enjoy!
