  1. I used to really dislike but now prefer them to the original. There's a bit more to them, they were quite clever.
  2. Because we have the original versions, the edits are rare and should be part of the single package. Some people are fucking clueless to what a collector is. These edits are also quite meaningful to a lot of us as when singles got released, we loved hearing alternate takes when a spotlight was shone on that track for release. We listened to our albums back then, 'over and over'. There is something very dull about curating a singles collection and just using album versions, they don't really tell the whole story. Album Versions are great for albums, it was part of the charm of listing to an album as a whole, we got a difference experience from the single. It annoys the fuck out of me when Greatest Hits are cobbled together and they've not used the version that was a hit.
  3. There is an unmixed one floating around, maybe that was fanmade. What Extended Version is that.
  4. It was the album version unmixed. The one on the album has a tiny bit of the intro to Of Father at the end.
  5. Not me getting excited rushing home, thinking that I might be hearing those super rare YCD Edits for the first time.
  6. I think the idea was to have some hard to find 7'' Mixes too, that way there was room for more tracks. Both the 7'' & 12'' Remix are excellent and the guy doing the boxset really wanted that one. We also tried for Janet Jackson but was rejected straight away. We tried to get as many first time to CD on there but the licensing was a pain, quite a lot of my suggestions never got the green light. The label wanted a mixture of sounds, with the older stuff on the last disc. There was talk of a second Pettibone Boxset at the time but crickets since.
  7. I think he's left the music industry now so didn't want to be involved. At least he allowed it go ahead though. The follow up Boxset was meant to be a Jellybean one but he wanted too much and a deal couldn't be reached. Madonna's team were approached about having Express Yourself on the Shep Pettibone Boxset but said no straight away.
  8. The UK 12'' Single had the album version but the B-Sides were listed as 'Where's The Party (Remix)' & 'Everybody (Remix)' with the remix credits from YCD. I though we were gonna get the 2 rare edits or the full length YCD Remixes but it was just the original album versions. I always wonder if there was an error or the remixes pulled last minute.
  9. I collected pretty much all the Pettibone Remixes years ago and helped with the Dance Masters compilation from 3 years ago.
  10. +1. I was obsessed with getting 7'' & 12'' remixes and they shone a spotlight on these greats songs and gave them a new life.
  11. When remixes were done back then, we noticed the difference as we had not really heard complete reworks that came later. They sounded very different as our ears had not experienced the (mainly) Pettibone (house) revamp. The first one I remember sounding almost like an entirely different song from the album version was Five Star - The Slightest Touch, it was a world away from the original.
  12. It was hugely exiting in the 80s when the next single from an album was released, it was remixed. I had played the original to death so I always wanted a fresh take.
