somethingscomingover reacted to musicinferno in Bedtime Stories 25th Anniversary (Album Facts)
Madonna was to work with Shep Pettibone again (who produced Vogue and the Erotica album) but they had a falling out during production. She switched producers and went for a softer sound.
Survival was played on some radio stations across North America even though it wasn't a single.
A tour was planned and even Wembley Stadium in London was booked for several shows but the tour was canceled because she landed the role for Evita.
Mark Romanek heard Bedtime Story when the album was released and begged her to let him direct the music video. It wasn't even planned as a single at the time.
Madonna didn't eat but instead smoked cigarettes while filming the Take A Bow video to stay thin.
The first printing of the album came in a turquoise CD case and had her face upside down (as it was supposed to be) but later the image was flipped and came in a black CD case.
The album was pressed on pink vinyl and only sold/given away as a promo. This item is super rare and is worth a lot of money among collectors.
Take A Bow spent 7 weeks at number one and remains her most successful single in the USA.
The over all look and theme of the album was to be a purposely softer project to help the backlash from the Erotica/SEX book era.
This image was supposed to be the original album cover:
Bedtime Story was the first song since Burning Up that didn't chart in the top 40 charts.
I'd rather Be Your Lover was to originally have Tupac doing the rap verses. This demo can be found online (even here).
All of the album's singles were on GHV2, which at the time was the only album that had all of its singles featured on a greatest hits compilation.

somethingscomingover got a reaction from Confessions Lightside in Bedtime Stories 25th Anniversary (Album Facts)
Here are some that I have found interesting over the years:
Take A Bow was written about an actor Madonna knew (fans often speculate which one).
Love Tried to Welcome Me was apparently inspired by a stripper Madonna met.
Forbidden Love was supposed to be the last single, but it was scrapped and released on Something to Remember instead.
A lot of Madonna's looks from this era were noted to be quite similar to Jean Harlow.
Madonna was extremely nervous performing Take A Bow live at the AMAs. The song was never included in any of her tours until Rebel Heart in 2016.
The Human Nature music video was inspired by the art of Eric Stanton. The Chihuahua that appears in the music video was Madonna's dog, Chiquita.
Bedtime Stories was supposed to have a tour, but Madonna decided she wanted to focus her energy into her role in the Evita film.
This special from the filming of Take A Bow gives a lot of interesting info:

somethingscomingover got a reaction from cosmicarlo818 in Madonna and Astrology
I've always found Madonna's mentions of astrology to be pretty cool.
I don't think there's any harm in it. If you like it, awesome. If you don't, that's great, too. Personally, I think there's some truth to it.

somethingscomingover got a reaction from dylanlioncourt in What was your first non-single song that you've heard of Madonna?
I can't entirely remember, but I think it was a song from Erotica because that's the first full album I listened to of hers. I think that it was probably Waiting. I had been a casual fan before, but the Erotica album really made me fall in love with her and made me want to listen to more of her albums fully.

somethingscomingover got a reaction from Voguerista in This Use To Be My Playground vs Take A Bow
Oh my goshhhh. How can I choose?
On a personal level, they both mean a lot to me and have helped me through a lot. But, I'm going to say Take A Bow. I think that it definitely had a better music video, and overall, it's just a little bit above Playground.

somethingscomingover got a reaction from Kae-Leah Williamson in Like a Virgin x Like a Prayer
I would consider them to both be Madonna's most iconic song. I feel like whenever I mention her to someone that's not a fan, they think of either one. Where I live, every time there's a Madonna song on the radio, it's Like A Prayer. And, whenever someone wants to do Madonna for karaoke, they pick Like A Virgin. They're both very well known, successful, controversial, signature songs. I also feel like, in the eyes of the general public, 80's Madonna is the most iconic Madonna (ageism is a factor in that choice, but that's a debate for another time).
It's a tie for me.

somethingscomingover reacted to dylanlioncourt in NEXT: Arena/Stadium World Tour
I'd rather her tour sporting new material than the usual GH route. She can do something like RHT with a good chunk of oldies and underperformed tracks to provide a good mix of new and old versus only performing hits.

When I listen to Bedtime Stories on vinyl and I get to Take A Bow, I honestly get shivers. The last lyric "Say goodbye" gets me every time because it's like the perfect way to end "the story" she's telling me through the album. It's just so beautiful. Not to mention that the instrumental used for it is so melancholy and amazing. There is no better ending to an album.

somethingscomingover got a reaction from Voguerista in What Songs Would You Have Wanted As Singles
I would have liked to have seen “Forbidden Love” and “Love Tried to Welcome Me” as singles from Bedtime Stories and then maybe “Impressive Instant” from Music and “Thief of Hearts” from Erotica.

somethingscomingover got a reaction from Andreo in Unpopular Madonna Opinions
My unpopular opinions:
-I actually like most of her movies and I don't think her acting is *that* bad all the time. She deserved an Oscar nomination for Evita.
-I love the song Little Star.
-Hard Candy isn't that bad.
-Bedtime Stories is one of her best albums. Secret is one of her best music videos.
-Like A Prayer's title track is great, but the rest of the album is
-I LOVE her children's books. They were a big part of my childhood and my introduction to Madonna.
-The 90's and 2000's were her best decades artistically. I don't listen to her 80's music very much, although I do have a few songs that I really like.
-She is always beautiful! There may be some looks of hers that others don't like, but I basically love and appreciate them all.

I really love her tourbooks. They're gorgeous. This is a bit upsetting.
Hopefully it's just a rumor.
