ring the alarm y'all she posted pics from the recording studio, and she's gotten clever about our sleuthing, she covered any possible lyrics we could snoop from notebooks.

I'm excited for the video, I just wish the remix was longer. Reducing a six minute song to two is criminal. I like this remix, but I need at least four or more minutes of it. Here's hoping that on the remix collection it's a longer cut #soon

    - Madonna's musicianship is often underrated, even by her own fans. The general public is probably not aware that she started out in a rock band, that she can play some instruments, that she's a classically trained dancer or that she's a consummate songwriter since her first album. Also, she has come a looong way since the "Minnie Mouse on helium" days. Not a powerhouse vocalist but she can definitely carry a tune.

    - "Papa Don't Preach" is her best music video. No flashy budget, just great, effective storytelling.

    - Who's That Girl Tour is her performing peak. She didn't have the massive production but she totally carried the show with her live vocals, the live band, the energetic dancing and the killer setlist.
    - "Dear Jessie" and "Cherish" kill the vibe of the Like A Prayer album, therefore I can't consider it her very best.

    - Something To Remember should be considered an essential Madonna album. Whoever came up with the idea of a ballad compilation is a genius.

    - Evita is her biggest career triumph. She proved all her naysayers wrong once and for all and delivered a stellar performance, vocally and acting-wise, further cementing her legend status. She deserved an Oscar nomination / win.

    - Music deserves as much recognition as Ray Of Light. The cyber-cowgirl aesthetic, mixing classic Americana with futuristic electronica - just brilliant.
    - Mirwais is the best producer she has ever worked with. Music, American Life, Madame X >>> t.heir work together always turns out to be interesting and experimental.

    - I would've traded the Drowned World Tour for her to play the role of Velma Kelly in Chicago.

    - Swept Away is by the far the worst thing she has ever been in. Second is that humiliating "STAR" BMW commercial. Damn you, Guy Ritchie!.

    - Hard Candy was NOT a flop like some fans claim. All things considered, it did better than past albums released in a much healthier sales climate, such as American Life, Erotica or Bedtime Stories. Although I'm sure it would've sold more copies with a less jarring / amateur artwork.

    - Warner probably had way more influence on her European radio success than we are aware of. It's suspicious how the U.K dropped her after 30 years as soon as she signed with Interscope (#3 Celebration > #37 Give Me All Your Luvin)

    - Sticky & Sweet is one of the best tours ever, by any artist. None of the current pop stars (sans Beyoncé) could pull off such a high-energy show at age 50. Most 20 year olds would be gasping for air after the "Into The Groove" jump rope segment.

    - Biggest missed opportunity: Not submitting "Masterpiece" for Best Original Song at the Oscars. It was a surefire win since the only competition was a Muppets song.

    - "W.E" is a visually stunning film.

    - MDNA is a solid dance album and one her most personal records if you pay attention to some of its lyrics chronicling her divorce.

    - The Gaga "feud" backfired. M could've been positively introduced to a new generation of baby gays but instead, some Little Monsters hold a grudge against Madonna fans to this day and viceversa.

    - Madame X is better than many of her "classic" albums, such as Like A Virgin, which in my opinion, its only held to a higher regard for its commercial success and cultural importance.

I don't think she had breast surgery. Look at this picture. Look at the difference between her body in reality and her body that exists only in her head and  in Instagram. Her instagram editor always reduces her huge hips and fatty stomach and stretches her legs strangely by thinning them. The same goes for recent photos. She just gained weight, so her chest got bigger, but her instagram editor shortened her waist and edited it ridiculously enough, making her chest look ridiculous.

    What an interesting topic idea!
I think that she wants to exert as much control as possible over career, and will even in death.  To which end, releasing an album posthumously only allows the artist so much control over how it is perceived.
However unlikely, I think it would be brilliant if she left us something that added a bit of mystery to her; so if something was released and there wasn't any background information, all we had was the music to go off of, it could be really interesting.

David Bowie recorded and released Black Star just before his death but after the recording he spoke to Tony Visconti about his 'next' album. He did not really 'prepare' the album for after his death. Would I like a Madonna album that deals with the theme of mortality and reflection on life (much like Bowie did with BS)? Yes! Mature, honest, dark, serious and brooding. She already has a few tracks that deal with such issues (Mer Girl, Wash All Over Me...)

Listening to Revolver right now (HORRIBLE vocal mixing by the way  I mean, amateur level) and just reminiscing on past Madonna eras while listening to Celebration and, well....
Was anyone completely caught off guard by Hard Candy? After Confessions, there were so many routes of music that still seemed unexplored for Madonna and yet ones that could be cool....but then...she suddenly did something that she had never really done before. She released an album that sounded a little dated already.
Everything about Hard Candy to this day still just feels so un-Madonna. I know this era is hotly debated by other Madonna fans, but I really do see Madonna as having had two eras -- 1983 - 2007 and 2008 - today and wonder if other Madonna fans feel this way. It's been so weird being in the fanbase as someone who discovered her around the time of Live 8, right before Confessions, and knowing what she was celebrated for and did at the time vs. how a lot of people perceive her today, as well as how she presents her art.
For the ones who agree, what do you think changed? Was Guy freakin Ritchie really the trigger to all of it, or were there other factors?
To clarify, I love everything she releases to this day. But I certainly feel like some of the magic Madonna always had started to disappear around Hard Candy, and I've always wondered if I'm the only fan who feels this way.
    Anyways, please discuss

Moving forward, i could see Madonna releasing new music under the same “licensing and distribution” deal via Boy Toy Inc. but instead of having a traditional record deal for 3-4 albums in 10 yrs, she just creates the music and  shops it to a label for licensing and distribution as it’s completed, or releasing it independently via digital outlets like Apple Music or Amazon. As mentioned earlier, a good A&R team and a smart promotional strategy is necessary for artists like Madonna that spent so many years having her needs met with WB. I’m not sure those teams exist in the same way at record labels anymore though, so it’s easy to get lost if the artist drops an album, then disappears for 3mos to prepare for a tour. Since Hard Candy/Sticky and Sweet, there’s been little to no time for the album to gestate with the audiences.

as a fan for so long, I’ll  always have a soft spot for physical releases, particularly vinyl, but it’s not a necessity for me as far as new music is concerned.

I think the choice of 360 branding was half baked for most of the duration, the gyms, the ToD perfume/shoe/lingerie fiasco,  MDNA skin should’ve done better had the promotional spots been about actual skincare instead of the Fat Jewish, and fantasy clips that served Steven Klein videography, and Andy Lecompte’s wig line more than the high quality and well packaged skincare products it was promoting. I know this from a cosmetics buyer at a MAJOR department store in the US. It was a difficult product to sell because it was marketed as a fashion makeup line instead of skincare.

hopefully she won’t fall into this trap again. I can’t quite find the right word to describe her attitude,  but it’s obvious she’s felt trapped in a deal that she had to see through, regardless of the artistic output, after MDNA and the tour, she seemed defiant to be the cash cow of Live Nation. And Guy Oseary’s moguldom during that time seemed to be a self-serving move for him, just sayin’….
I mean, who does A&R, signs acts like Alanis Morrisette, and then runs that same record company for years without figuring out how to release singles, videos, etc, or know how to work the system behind the scenes for airplay and  exposure?
does anyone here think it was Madonna’s goal or idea to premiere a video on Meerkat? Or SnapChat? Or have a product tie-in with a vodka company to launch an album? I know this how the music market is, and has been for some time, but most artists that do a vanity fragrance or fashion line at least seem to take it seriously, however much their actual input into product development is.
madonna seemed to almost make fun of them as they were being launched. Death to the patriarchy, indeed.

Again, moving forward, I’d like to see a more organic approach to her output. Whatever those products are: music, film, or whatever she wants to do. There’s been a lack of something…class, integrity, sincerity?

Regarding promotion I don’t think that’s the case. Rebel Heart had huge promotion. And MDNA had no promotion because the whole album was basically promotion for the Super Bowl performance.
Meanwhile Beyoncé is dropping albums with zero promotion and they sell like crazy.
The real problem is her management. Mariah made a very successful comeback from a much deeper hole than Madonna has ever been in. But that was on the back of huge promotion of her back catalogue, books and ultimately a lot of effort on her part.
I did notice that organically she has become much more relevant to the new generation and her streaming numbers are improving. They should do a huge push of her back catalogue.
Also there’s a chance for the biopic to be a success if she’s not directing and it’s done well (like the Elton John and Queen movies).
Also she desperately needs better social media.

There was a post on her Twitter saying it’s been five years since the Bitch I’m Madonna video and who would we like to have seen feature in the video.
I’m banking on some sort of party in the place where the video was shot ... a recreation of sorts. A short hits set with a bunch of her songs throughout the ages
    Mother & Father
    Bitch I’m Madonna
    God Control
     Future Lovers
like .... a disco Tears Of A Clown with remixes of old songs. Maybe even a new one and some special guest appearances.
maybe a digital EP of the remixes as a cute profile raiser before the Madame X tour is released. Very like Duas Club Future Nostalgia.

I think this feels like the just the right amount of optimism and realism. No new album or anything like that.

Wouldn’t that be just brilliant. A real fun non heavy moment of celebration that chimes nicely with fans and the GP leading into a couple of years of pure Madonna nostalgia and getting the GP on board before the biopic.

    Here is hoping.

In the age of streaming greatest hits collections don't seem very relevant anymore imo. Unless of course the songs are re-recorded (like what Blondie did in 2014 for their 40th), reworked (like Kylie's Abbey Road Sessions), or there are new and/or previously unreleased tracks included.
I would prefer we got something much like what Kylie did for her first four albums; sets that were completely remastered, included all the b-sides and remixes from the singles, and a dvd of the music videos. That's a pipe dream to expect from Madonna though.
