Actually I agree Unruhe, I think if she had toured in 1989 she might have had a Spanish section. I think she confirmed La Isla Bonita at some point, so your picks make sense. Dear Jessie may have been with Cherish with that section being a little longer. I think most of it probably was failry similar to BAT just with maybe a Spanish section instead of a Dick Tracy section.

Yeah the fact they can't even give us unedited versions of the songs in the movie says a lot. Plus they re-created the original trailer and none of the outtakes from songs are used as I assume they didn't have those scenes anymore to re-create it.
I think they did lose all the concert filming tbh, but often those things pop up unexpectedly

I think it was madonnatv.com that confirmed Nocturn who shot the screen footage in the arenas/stadiums has every show from WTG onward archived. So the Paris shows likely exist in full.

Yes. Truth or Dare was re-released on VHS in May 1992 by Live Home Entertainment and they included both bonus songs at the end of the movie. I got a copy from ICON fanclub back in the day.

Toby Phillips who produced the concert sequences said otherwise.
He also did cinematography and stated that he needed to get special permission from Madonna to change the lighting with gels and bring the brightness down, hence why the Paris news footage is darker and with deeper colours. Madonna had concerns the paying audience wouldn't be able to see the show properly and he had to compromise to make sure it looked good on film and good for the audience.
It was a completely different crew that Toby was in charge of, just because Alek claims he only needed certain songs, doesn't mean he made the decision about which parts of the concert were filmed. I doubt he had any say, it was Madonna who decided that.
He said all three nights were shot in full. I doubt Madonna would be willing to compromise her show for three nights just for a handful of songs. Yes it was shot on 35mm film. They shot the B&W scenes on 16mm and shot 250hrs, you think that wasn't expensive?

I don’t think it has anything to do with the strength of the shows but how big the hardcore fanbase is and how to make the most money. There is a very limited market for dvd/bluray releases at all let alone for old concerts. We did not even get Madame X.

Yes it was the earliest title of the film, then 50 violins came next. Possibly like me, many thought Fiddlesticks was a horror film when paired with Wes Craven's name.
    Haha, I don't doubt that

Yes Fiddlesticks was the original title directed by Wes Craven. I thought it was a horror film when it was first announced but it was about Roberta Tavares and her teaching violin to inner city school kids. Madonna dropped out 2 seconds before filming over creative differences and Meryl Streep stepped in and the title changed to Music of the Heart. This was around the time she went brunette and did the Power of Goodbye video, that was the look she would have had in the film or similar.
I have to say Rupert is basically saying the same as Griffin Dunne who said Who's that Girl? ruined his career. He was on an upward trajectory until that point. Griffin surprisingly has more anger over it than Rupert.

According to Variety the creative differences were indeed about how the character should be portrayed so you may be right.
Also correction the woman's name in the film was Roberta Guaspari not Tavares, I have no idea where I got that name from, unless there was a name change, but likely I got it confused.

According to Goldie Hawn, she and Madonna were dumped from the project. So she would have been waiting an eternity for that one to go ahead.
I do think she should have learned her lesson and worked with an actors director. She always did better with directors who could guide her and help her shape her performance. When she was left to her own devices, it never turned out well.
I don't know why but I feel Jodie Foster could have gotten a great performance out of her, if she had had a project for her to do.
In terms of Dangerous Game, that was a fluke as director Abel Ferrera used a lot of real footage from rehearsals when Madonna was literally being Madonna.

Madonna never chased the part, Penny has always said she had another actress in the role who pulled out when her tv pilot got greenlit. She then went to Madonna (Just prior to her trip to Cannes) and asked her to be in it. M signed on to the film May 31, 1991.

While I still prefer to wait for official word from the family, that is if they are going to make any statement, it does seem likely he passed.
My condolences to the family. I hope he had a happy life and lots of love around him and I hope the family can be together and be there for one another. It is sad that they have lost two family members so close together.

In saying that, I want to make it clear I would love a new album and it is possible we are getting something, it is still exciting to think about new music for sure and I'm not cynical at all. I guess I am more managing expectations as nothing is the same career wise for her anymore, so I don't think we can bet on anything.

Whatever the case, I would like a musical release that's just her. Some joyous dance music that Madonna, the one and only Queen of Pop, can deliver. Something that gets EVERYONE on the dance floor. Lord knows the world needs it. Musical artists have become so humorless now.

Yeah times have changed. She literally did a massive scale tour without any new music. Which she has never done before. Prior to The Celebration tour would you assume she would ever tour without a new album to promote?

So true.  I think she still prefers to tour with new music, but this really gave her a taste of what it's like when not.  It really worked in her favor.  She also has to think outside the box these days because she doesn't have the same pull as she used to in the music industry.  Her name will always sell tickets, but like a lot of older artists, she's always going to struggle selling albums. Then again, most artists are struggling, so she's pretty much keeping up with things in my eyes.  I sorta figured Stuart and her would get together and do a new album after working on the tour with him.  Also, it's something the fans been wanting, and I suspect she knows that.  Hopefully they can capture some of that old magic and create something stunning again.  I don't expect it will outshine Confessions, but who knows?
