They didn’t understand her. She was flaunting her sexuality unashamedly and they didn’t know how to interpret that. They wanted to believe she was talentless and a one hit wonder because what she was doing went against their idea of what a serious female artist should do or be.
I think her voice was part of it but even then, if she’d had this big powerful voice I think they’d still have reacted similarly. For a lot of people the voice was just an excuse to write her off imo.

You missed my point. She may have mentioned that, but I think she is referencing inversion as in herself upside down - not the literal meaning of inversion therapy. If she had lower back issues, or back issues full stop - she would not be doing a head stand - which actually places significant strain on the vertebrae of the neck. If she was doing the literal inversion therapy - she'd be on a table upside down using traction to expand the joints -
