Nowheretohide reacted to BoyToyMark in The Moments Of "The Look Of Love"
Even just a slight remaster with EQ on Something To Remember would've worked wonders.

A great song! Arguably the strongest on the WTG soundtrack. The other 3 (well, the 2 prior singles) are decent & fun but somewhat rehashes of songs that came before (La Isla Bonita, Into The Groove, Open Your Heart). This one is as good as anything on True Blue barring Live to Tell.
And agree w/all it should’ve been on STR. I would’ve included instead of the 2nd unnecessary version of I Want You.

Nowheretohide got a reaction from Voguerista in The Moments Of "The Look Of Love"
For me definitely it is one of his most touching 80s songs and one of my absolute favorites. This is the reason for my nickname. Back in the day I heard the song for the first time in the WTG live version (concert in Turin) and only afterwards the studio recorded version. The live performance in Tokyo was also beautiful (probably the best one). In 1995 I was shocked not to find it included in "Something to Remember"

One of her best middle 8s EVER - and that's something considering how good she was at those (I say was cause breaks/middle 8s are a thing of the past nowadays mostly).

Nowheretohide reacted to BADonna in The Moments Of "The Look Of Love"
Beautiful song! Of course, it didn't strike the same chord Crazy For You and Live To Tell did, but I was just happy to hear another ballad from her at the time. I remember thinking in the 80's, when stanning for her, how very few ballads she had at the time. She definitely made up for that as time went on, especially in the 90's. There's just something about many of her ballads. She sounds so raw and beautiful. I do wish the song was released as 3rd single in the U.S. I'm sure it would have done quite well, but by then, she released YOU CAN DANCE and that was the focus. As for the live performance, again just beautiful. While her first couple of tours lacked the same sorta production her future tours had, she still captivated the stage with the song. The MIME moves were awesome on stage. It really added some drama too the performance. The international release single cover is awesome. One of my favorite shots done by the late Herb Ritts. He definitely was a great asset to her career!

Nowheretohide reacted to Scarlet Witch in The Moments Of "The Look Of Love"
It's so underrated!! Loved the song the moment I heard as a teen getting into Madonna and buying her CD/singles. This song stood out to me whereas everything else on the WTG soundtrack is upbeat. Seeing this on the DVD was gorgeous. Her deep register, the empty stage and just her natural charisma.
I told you in another thread of how this song was perfect for me driving at night just being in Austin, seeing the city lights and being perfect mood music.
I also love the single cover. Wish we had remixes of this song and it had been performed than just one tour. So good!

So, how about this stunning moment in the beginning of Madonna's career? Were any of you blessed to see this tour and "The Look Of Love" performance in person? What are your thoughts and memories seeing and hearing this again?
I just love this song and performance so much. So breathtaking and emotional. I love how she has these "pushing" like moves (pushing in front and pushing in back of herself) in the beginning to set it up. Who has ever done that? And how I love a side to side moving stage! Stunning!

American Pie was much bigger internationally than in the US. It did just ok here and got a decent amount of flak so I’m guessing Warner US was ok w/honoring her demand.
Live To Tell was always part of the album. Early on that was going to be the album’s title.
Like A Virgin was a blockbuster in the US based on just the first 2 singles. From what I recall it wasn’t common here to tack on a new song to an already successful album back then. Only if it needed the help. In Europe LAV was decently successful but not huge at first. Adding ITG is what made it and her really blow up.

Nowheretohide reacted to Tommolo90 in Last really amazing song that Madonna released was...
For my personal preference, I think I'd go with God Control. I went literally crazy when the album came out.
If we have to think about success, I think her last major hit was probably 4 Minutes (no, I don't label Popular as a Madonna song)

Nowheretohide reacted to Blue Prince in Last really amazing song that Madonna released was...
For me God Control. I remember many fans loving it at the time but since then I think it hasn't really sat with them. It's a genius song, unpredictable in its construction unlike Ghosttown, with beautiful melodies too and quite the message. It could start at the first sound of violins and it'd still be great, maybe more loved. For me it's the closest she's been to Impressive Instant, also a mockery of a song but makes you feel like you've been shot to outer space.

Definitely Ghosttown...I am not a big fan of Madame X, but I consider God control both as song and video "almost amazing".

For me Ghostown. It was a masterpiece in terms of vocals, production, message, videoclip...It should have been bigger for sure. People went crazy when she did it live. it´s been 10 years.

Nowheretohide got a reaction from Confessions Lightside in Should „I'm Breathless“ be considered a studio album?
Wiki: "By convention, a soundtrack record can contain any kind of music including music "inspired by" but not actually appearing in the movie; the score contains only music by the original film's composers."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soundtrack_album#Extra_tracks
I still consider IB a "regular" studio album
In any case, a soundtrack is usually a type of studio album.
Studio album is a term used for distinguish a record created in a recording studio (with equipment meant to give those overseeing the recording as much control as possible over the sound of the album) from a live album (the common understanding of a "live album" is one that was recorded at a concert with a public audience, even when the recording is overdubbed or multi-tracked).

Nowheretohide reacted to True Blue 84 in Favorite " Open Your Heart " performance of all time
I agree, its one of my favorite tours. Im so in love with her vocals this tour, she sounds so good on so many songs. And i really love her lower sounding vocals on parts. This tour is proof she is one of THE best entertainers of all time, it's just HER, STAGE + BACKING SINGERS. And i can't keep my eyes off of her the entire time. Japan is my favorite, she sounds so good on so many songs. Performances like Lucky Star, Papa Don't Preach, True Blue, Look of Love, Into the Groove are definitely up with her best vocal performancess of all time, so raw and strong. God i love it. And that while dancing/moving at the same time.
