The Title of this is "Rebel Heart Tour", it will be the Rebel Heart Tour. "I'm going to tell you a secret" was not called "Re-invention Tour", "In Bed With Madonna" was not called "Blond Ambition Tour". Going by the title alone, it will be the Rebel Heart Tour. Most films in the cinema are now well over 2 hours long.

^^^it's funny how the expectation seems to be that everything a star does has to be great, flashy, entertaining to the core, always adrenaline-filled, keeping everyone on their toes each and any minute for distraction from their own lives.
it's like expecting a circus animal to be entertaining all the time. as if the audience owned the artist and artist has to give everyone a figurative b/j to meet their expectations, rather than allowing the artist to express themselves - even if it's boring to some.
to me it isn't boring at all. documentaries give you a different kind of perspective, and maybe even some insight to who somebody is at the moment they were filmed. no matter if they were the hottest shit at the time or not.
i may stand alone in this but i am actually always interested in which headspace she is in in her private life, behind the scenes because i think she is a fascinating person. if i want a circus horse, i watch other artists.

i am looking forward to the BD/DVD, no matter what kind of film it is.

I don't understand how people want her to be deeper and more meaningful in her art yet dismiss her politics and beliefs completely.

The only thing for me about her nowadays, is that I think sometimes she puts too much energy fighting trolls on instagram with angry posts and selfies. To me, it's below her. But she's navigating the world like the rest of us so even if sometimes I'm like "ok girl we get it".. I still respect her.

I won't say the whole documentary is great, but there are great parts. Seeing Rocco and Lourdes joking and interacting, Madonna being drunk or tired after a show. Madonna partying. Her sweet interactions with the dancers. And her confessional about how sometimes she's been very depressed in her career. The (pretentious) spiritual montages are awesome too.

Bitch if you dont find value on any of that then we can't be friends.

ToD is definitely the superior and more relevant film, but I definitely prefer the person we see on IGTTYAS. By a lot.

I definitely get your point because nowadays the consumers' standards are very different to, at least, what used to be 15 years ago. All these 'artists' are part of the 'new' generation with fans under the age of 25 and they understand the market needs very well because everything in the 2000s and 2010s is substantially immediate. It's the main characteristic of the society we live in today. However, Madonna grew up and developed her career in a different time where the internet didn't exist and there were other parameters in the game... Have you wondered why she takes that long to release the latest music videos? And when they're out they're not that special compared to others'? Because she's just part of a different generation. And this is not criticism, it's just an observation... A few might consider Madonna as part of the past but that's because she played an important role in the last 30 years whether they agree with it or not. I'm sure we'll have the chance to get the Rebel Heart Tour DVD sooner or later, it's just the anxiety (extremely common these days) that's consuming us all right now. And I perfectly get why Madonna makes us wait... it's just her way of staying relevant. She's a smart bitch ya know.

I think it only got an online broadcast by Yahoo! Anyway, the show was crap so I believe she was embarrased to release THAT.
    Back to the topic:

I still think there's no sense on overthinking about what the "Rebel Heart tour could have been". Dudes, the tour finished just 5 months ago and it's the ULTIMATE statement of what Madonna represents TODAY. Blond Ambition was great for its time and it still is a mandatory reference if you're thinking of putting on a live show. But Madonna CHANGED and does it all the time. The Madonna we saw at the S&S was a woman acting out like the divorce wasn't affecting her but in reality it did... Otherwise we wouldn't have witnessed all the bitchiness at MDNA despite her so quoted "journey from darkness to light". The Rebel Heart Tour was her surrender to who she really is, no pretentious attitude, a very low percentage of bitchiness, and most importantly there were so many opportunities to improvise, especially in the acoustic segment.

Guys, did you see her rendition of Open Your Heart?

This was truly an unbelievable Madonna moment! No patterns. Just her and HER music!!!

since the confessions tour, the concert DVDs have been either self-produced and edited by Madonna's choice of director and editors, or "sold" as a concert film to various broadcasting companies. These tours also had cellular and/or liquor companies as sponsors, whereas the Blknd Ambition Tour had 3 different shows "sold" for live broadcast in the Japanese, North American and European markets. Pioneer was the sponsor, so there was an official laserdisc-only release in the US, and Laserdisc and VHS officially released in Japan, the production of the Nice Show, for instance, was produced by HBO. Then, with the Truth Or Dare documentary being a completely independent, separate release, the shows filmed for that release would be the only Madonna-produced footage, which then went to Miramax after the distribution deal of the film was sealed.
The Girlie Show and Drowned World Tours were also produced with HBO (a TimeWarner owned company) so the sponsorships and broadcast rights were less red tape to cut through for Dvd releases. The Re-Invention tour was filmed and produced for broadcast on the CBS network, and for whatever reason(s) the deal was scrapped. Again, a self-produced filming of separate shows for the "I'm going to tell you a secret" doc were used, independent of any intended broadcast rights by CBS (but since the IGTTYAS doc WAS broadcast on MTV, owned by CBS' parent company Viacom, there was surely some exclusivity as part of the scrapped concert special)

Confessions, Sticky and Sweet, MDNA, were filmed and produced for dvd release, preceded by various broadcast rights In different markets globally.
Selling a "concert film" for broadcast is a lot easier to negotiate than a live broadcast with any number of issues that could cause an interruption/cancellation of the broadcast.
The Rebel Heart Tohr will be sold , and most likely broadcast somewhere, simply because she paid to film and edit it. Live Nation isn't gonna let it slip through the cracks, but that could also mean there's no physical release, but that's beside the point... The only evidence we have is there will be a release.
Now that we know that every show, ever, has been preserved somewhere, and WB even had test in-house copies for reference, it seems like the likelihood of getting shows of past tours on DVD at some point.

But then again...Contracts and ownership of the footage, not to mention getting clearance for samples used on tour mixes etc, takes time and money....and attorneys. Let's face it, Madonna lets Guy Oseary worry about those details, and if it's not profitable, it's not going to be a priority.
