MikeyK reacted to Boombox90 in MADONNA AND WARNER MUSIC GROUP ANNOUNCE MILESTONE, CAREER-SPANNING PARTNERSHIP!!
I don’t agree.
It does not seem that Madonna is particularly interested in preserving her work in peak audio or video. Lossy tracks, fake mixes, loudness wars, single versions mostly excluded. Videos I can go on and on.
Which is a shame.

Regarding FEL, it did decently, especially the 6 disc set (which is aimed at collectors anyway), and I know it’s been doing consistently alright in the UK, but here in the US it did its first week numbers and I think that was mostly it. I don’t think the 2lps that they shipped out to stores sold very well w/casual music buyers. Target had a bunch that got shipped back to warehouses and made online only. If my observation is true, hopefully that didn’t make them question the market for future releases. I’ve never seen sales figures for the standard vinyl reissues of her catalogue albums.

I picked You’ll See. Though I’d consider Live To Tell a better song overall, YS is my personal favorite and gets my strongest emotional reaction. Those vocals.
Thought about going w/other bc Something To Remember is another personal fave, but meh I’ll just stick w/one of the hits.

Absolutely. We have to remember other unfortunate factors here- a lazy, bare minimum label and an artist that seems bothered any time she has to revisit the past.
I do like FEL. It’s a nice little addition to her catalogue. It shouldn’t be the only major release of this deal, and it’s certainly not necessary to keep reissuing it (especially in place of other potential releases).
It wouldn’t surprise me at all though if they had to practically handcuff her to a chair to get through all the tracks.
Really the 2001 remasters were chintzy on bonuses too. Even for 2001 standards.

Haha I knew someone would be sure to point out if it’s been posted before. Like most of us have time to search every post or keep up with this forum all the time. [emoji849] [emoji6]
Anywho, I was excited, and maybe here’s some “BRAND NEW INFORMATION” (to quote Phoebe from F•R•I•E•N•D•S) - These look cool “fullscreen” in iOS 17:

Yeah and I think guy had changed it to that pic before the health scare happened. You’d think there’s *something* in the pipeline. I hope they don’t delay it bc of her health. It’s not like she has to do anything.
Even if we get nothing grand, I’d imagine there will be at least some minimal efforts that mirror recent reissues or anniversaries. They could recertify it for attention a la TIC; digitally release an anniv edition w/nothing especially rare a la TB; and of course post for sale overpriced throws, shirts and slip covers a la Erotica, ROL & AL.

MikeyK got a reaction from patrice1711 in What is the timeline of Madonna songs/videos that made you a fan?
First exposure I remember- Like A Virgin. I recall being about 6 riding in the car w/mom, LAV was on the radio. I asked her what a virgin was. She nervously said something like, “it’s kind of like a nun.” I had a general perception who M was at the time- her style, LAV & MG, that slightly older girls loved her.
What I liked along the way- Open Your Heart video. My mom really was a cool mom in the 80s. She watched MTV a lot. When the OYH video would come on she’d make me leave the room. I’d sneakily peer from the kitchen doorway, like Felix.
Also remember casually liking Live To Tell, La Isla Bonita and Who’s That Girl.
What made me a fan- Vogue & BAT. Nothing from LAP appealed to me at the time. I was more into Paula Abdul in 89 lol. Then in 90 my bff (who was already sort of a fan) and I liked Vogue, especially the video. The I’m Breathless tape was the first thing I owned.
I watched the BAT HBO broadcast and it blew my tween mind. Became a huge fan from that point. I went out and bought up the rest of her tapes as quickly as my weekly allowance would let me. My bff and I had sleepovers nearly every weekend and would play her tapes, watch the BAT recording, rent her other two concert videos from Blockbuster.
What a time that was. Then TIC came out. The JML controversy. The MTV Madonnathon weekends. Truth Or Dare. Her ubiquitous presence in the media.

Perhaps they’ll have commissioned a lithograph that says “ Live, Laugh, Lucky Star”, w/a drawing of her based on the album photoshoot. Would go great w/the “Burning Up” set of scented candles that have her face printed on them.

I feel sad for her if this is true, the polar opposite of the Celebration she intended.

MikeyK got a reaction from Ayham in Favorite Official Video from First Album?
I picked Lucky Star because it’s the definition of iconic. It perfectly encapsulates her charisma and whole vibe from back then (in a much more professional manner than any of the visually similar but aesthetically inferior Holiday performances). It might be conceptually simpler than BU or BL but its simplicity is part of its charm.
