Is Madame X Going To Be The Last Studio Album Madonna Will Release?

The music industry is changing so much, who knows what happens in 4 years? The cycle of singles / albums / tours is almost gone, she does much more featurings with other artists that she can still be very active while breaking the game. On the same vibe, she is doing a theater tour, which is absolutely not new for singers, but it'll still probably be a Madonna show and not only a recital, so wait for what she comes up with next.

Really? Because I hear a woman revitalized, inspired, and invested creatively in ways that she hasn't been in a long, long time. The last time I've felt this level of investment from her was American Life.

Agreed.

I think this promotional period has shown that she's still changing in this industry. Teaming up with TIME for I Rise, using Future as a statement performance on Eurovision, having a worldwide premier of Medellin with MTV, featuring a black queer artist front and center in her video while she takes a back seat for Dark Ballet, and a powerful musical video piece sending a strong political message with God Control. If anything I see a woman who's using her music as tools and weapons instead of just a typical album rollout. Maybe it's just this album, but I could see this continuing into the future. So no, I dont think she's stopping anytime soon. I think this is the beginning of a new Madonna.

Thing is madonna has an enormous wealth. She has absolutely no need to sell a single copy of any future album. She didn't have to since many years. And that's why I am so sure she will not stop. I don't say she's not aiming for success. Everyone does. But she doesn't need it.

Madonna said in the iheart radio interview that she had no intention of recording an album, but she was inspired by the local music scene in Portugal. So Madam X happened only because of that reason.

To me, she will never truly be done, it will be less planned and only happen if inspiration hits her and who knows if the circumstances will align for that to happen. Seems she isn't contractually obligated to record albums and does it at her own discretion. So another album might happen soon or not at all.

As long as she has something to say, don't count her out. The worst we can get is something made to satisfy a contract obligation (a GH) or being swamped with projects that leave her without the proper time to craft work she feels passionate about. (possible MDNA)

She could sign another contract, work on her films (her autobiography if she ever does one) or focus on the children until inspiration sparks. Madame X truly showed that she is indeed as hungry as an artist as she's ever been but the time of traditional releases, singles charting has changed so much. I would expect she'd either drop an album, go the way of MX and do promotional singles/album tracks or something entirely new with how things have changed.

Madame X won't be her final record unless something god forbid were to happen to her. She's way too much of "I gotta do something" type to not still push the needle.

I think that she didn't have any intention to make an album because of how devastated she felt after Rebel Heart leaked. At that point I believe she somehow differentiated her being an artist from her making albums, albums that her own fans will steal from her and distribute. There is a lot of pain hidden behind her narration of the events in all interviews. But after Madame X unfolded according to plan I hope she's not afraid anymore that her own creations may be a cause of hurt and disappointment.

Which doesn't mean that she will release soon. Her life with kids can't be too inspirational and she won't have the time or the public of ten years ago craving new material from her. Even much younger and more popular artists now don't release often and turn to other things, like Rihanna, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga etc.  I mean we could be happy with one song by her every year even as part of a project or so.

I am full of hope. After commercial failures of artistic masterpieces, she has always succeeded in massively successful albums. She needs her adventures like Erotica, American Life and Madame X as compensation. And we need them too.

So true. Love this way of thinking on it. She has a right to do something for herself for all the pleasures she's given us.

Some need come down from the Madonna pedestal.  There are plenty of artists who have once sold a bazillion albums who are still making music.  Madonna may never experience the commercial success that she once had, but this woman isn't going to stop making records or touring.   Besides, even the popular artists of today aren't selling many records or breaking tour records anymore.  Even the biggest sellers today aren't selling to the amounts Madonna and some of her 80's and 90's peers sold.  The record industry might be dead, but Madonna isn't.  She's here for the long haul.

I think she'll record another album, yet there more than likely won't be a tour.

Also she'll probably start releasing a box set, albums of unreleased tracks, tour videos of BAT and RIT etc...

The big thing M should be focusing on is her autobiography.
