I could see her doing 1 of 2 more albums. Not more to be honest

Who knows but I would rather have only one or two more brilliant albums versus ten crappy late, Cher-esque Cyndi Lauper or Gloria Estefan efforts.  Not comparing any of them and I am a fan of all but making a point that Madonna fifteen album (I will always include Breathless) are stellar and I am grateful that M has not flooded her discogrsphy with standard compilations and rehashes.  Madonna always stays "shiny and new".

With Madame X I was actually expecting a video album like Beyonce did with one of hers.

If M released another album, she could actually think about making film with all the music included.

Kinda like The Wall by Pink Floyd.

The smartest move she’d do next is to release another album next year or in 2021, and not later. She’s a very theatrical artist and she’s known more for her looks, style, powerful performance and larger than life shows than anything. Even when her new music is barely recognizable by the general public, her tours sold amazingly well because people loved how over the top they were, and she isn’t getting any younger, so for her to carry in another big show, she needs to do it sooner than later.

Also, releasing a ballads album with glamorous evening dresses and classic looks could be something that the public will really admire since it’s a drastically different image and style for her, and she can then follow it up by a greatest hits stadium and arena world tour and retire afterwards. She really shouldn’t miss that opportunity. We all know very well that she’s not getting any successful movies anymore nor any singles to chart on Billboard, so maybe emphasize on the art of singing and experimenting with new genres. and the larger than life shows while she still can, instead of relying on rappers and models to get her a single that ends up being neither loved by fans or the public, nor wasting years disappearing just to create a “comeback” that falls on its face, or another low budget tour/era.

She needs to acknowledge her legendary status and capitalise on that. People would flock to see a ballard tour of her hits from the entire span of her career.

Exactly. I’m tired of her paying dust to her past and only sticking with like 7 classic hits repeating them over and over. There’s nothing shameful or demeaning about a greatest hits tour or singing ballads. Not every album has to be dance or political

Also Madonna is not like Cher or any other female performer over the age of 60. She's pretty much incomparable.

The older she gets, the harder and more grueling a tour will be, but setting up a residency in Vegas would be a cool idea.

Hasn't M said a few times she'd loathe to do a residency in Vegas? I think if she ever did change her mind they'd have to build a totally new theatre for her residency.

Ive come to understand that who Madonna really is as an artist becomes clearer as time goes by. Her commercial success always came out of necessity (and because she was signed to a major label). She had a need to draw people in, shock, provoke, etc.

But if you really look at it, her true commercial appeal has been fleeting: Like a Prayer, Ray of Light, Confessions. Major points in drawing the masses’ attention to her work.

The rest, Erotica, American Life, Madame X are polar opposites (though people’s perceptions of these records will change over time. The rhetoric on Erotica today is VERY different than it was at the time of its release), but remain, according to Madonna, some of her best work.

She gets these massive commercial hits and then people expect her to keep spitting those out like that is what she is made of, when in fact, aside from the novelty (and pop genius) of her early records, Madonna is a hard pill to swallow as a pop artist. I believe she hates that label and has been known to make fun of it.

If Madonna had had her way throughout her career, it might have been filled with more Easy Rides, Impressive Instants, Dark Ballets, Secret Gardens and Interventions than with Into The Grooves, Hung Ups and 4 Minutes.

Once i understood this, I stopped worrying about (and expecting) chart dominance. And though it is nice, it hardly matters.

Her output will no doubt be far more left of center from now on than it has ever been. Those who relate to it will continue to appreciate it; those who dont will always have Ray of Light (which was actually the perfect mix of commercial appeal and musical subculture).

Madonna’s moved on from the 80’s hits. And if we’d performed Material Girl 240 times, I think we would to.

Artists are not our dancing monkeys. There needs to be appreciation (or not) of what is in the now. And if an older hit is sung on stage or a number one hit is scored, then great!

But to demand she dole out “my favorite song because she’s never performed it and I need to see it live” is an odd thing to do.

I dont expect Chris Evans to dress up as Captain America at every public event.

I would never ask Picasso to keep painting the same portrait.

I’ll stop asking Madonna to sing “Holiday”.

If she does, I will bounce along.

If she doesn’t, I’ll stand for the oddity and creativity behind “Killers Who Are Partying”. Because it would be...it would be so nice.

Exactly. I still can't believe this is 2019 and we don't have anyone decent taking care of her social media / youtube channels. No 4k music videos. No remastered albums with extra tracks/demos. A netflix deal to release all her tours there. A decent SEX Book re-release. Something like this. And use all this to create hype for a new era.

She used to be able to find the middle ground between what she wanted to do and what people wanted to hear from her. It's like she forgot about the 2nd part.

Look what Kylie Minogue has been doing.  She knew her market, and released a mature album while being dance at the same time...this year she released a Greatest Hits album and did Glastonbury and honestly? Her career is better now than it has been since she ended the Aphrodite era.

I even look at J Lo, Mariah Carey and all of them are kind having these resurgences lately and it's great for them and their fans. I also know it's a bit unfair to compare since these girls are 10 years younger than Madonna but still...i feel like her career since she left Warner Bros and since she got Guy Oseary for her full time manager it was all a mistake, honestly. All this allied to the fact she doesn't know how to live in a social media environment plus the fact the traditional media was always cruel to her + mistakes like that Eurovision performance...is it even profitable for her to release studio albums right now when they don't even sell half a million copies worldwide? (that plus all the music videos she did for Madame X era...)

Kylie has also had the benefit of having a father who is an accountant who took wise control over her image and branding along with managing her income sensibly from the beginning of her career.

I still think we'll see Kylie hosting a breakfast or variety TV show in the near future. She definitely knows her market and what they want.

You do realize that MX still sold way more than Jlo and Mariah's last albums worldwide, so how exactly are they "having a resurgence"?

Jlo had a well received FILM this year and Mariah is a novelty Christmas act, STILL belting out AIWFCIY 25 years later but in terms of recent ALBUM success, Madonna has them beat

I can imagine all the comments about Madonna's age when she releases her next album aged 65. I don't know how Madonna is so pachydermatous

Probably because of all the BS that so-called fans throw at her on a daily basis.  "I want a live album, I want her to do a greatest hits tour and package, I want a new album before she's 65, I want her to perform at exactly 8:30pm, she should pay for being late, blah blah blah.
Madonna is her own woman and she will do what she pleases, when she pleases.  If this makes you sore, than just go away.

It would be a smart move to release a new album in 2022 to celebrate 40 years since her first single Everybody, and a massive greatest hits collection with everything included and all music videos on blu-ray, and show all the fuckers why she's the queen and why she's where she is.
