For real. Madonna can translate emotion with her voice better than anyone out there. When she’s ready to dance it’s pure joy, and when she sings a ballad it’s incredibly emotive.

And that's why i think Live to Tell on the Celebration Tour is actually a great example because she sings it with so much emotion that you can feel every single word of it. It's the ONLY performance ever that made me cry loud like a child while being at a concert.

I hate belters, if you are not Aretha don't even try. I hate those effing Voice tv shows where people think singing is belting. I don't like songs from chanteuses, i effing hate Bono screaming like his foreskin is stuck in his fly on every song. I've always loved Madonna singing because she's not trying to impress with notes but she's telling us a story and she's engaging, even on her call to the floor anthems. She sings to us, not at us.

I've always been fascinated by the Coffee Talk accent she used for the first few lines of this one performance, then drops. Never heard her do it in any other live performance of this song. And no one ever mentions it. It's so bizarre, but like buttah.
