It's interesting that apart from the Celebration tour - there's not been really any major reissue (since FEL) to celebrate such big milestones (although, BS might come?!? #soon).

I wonder what the hesitation is - is it Madonna, or is it cost/demand ? There's 151 copies of FEL Rainbow edition still available at Warner Australia - so maybe they created to many lol

Pure speculation but I’m thinking it could be because she’s focused on doing a new album now. Plus the Celebration Tour film.

I kind of like the idea of her bypassing slapping the word “anniversary” on these releases. Just do them properly and make them timeless. If they’re good it doesn’t matter when they happen, the fans will buy them.

I agree.  Again, we do have a couple weeks before the album's true anniversary, so there might be a surprise thrown out to us, but I won't hold my breath.  Like I mentioned above, I'd think we'd heard something by now.

Maybe Madonna isn’t rushing to do an anniversary re-issue in part bc the only single she co-wrote was “Angel”. I know she co-wrote ITG but as mentioned it wasn’t included in the US version. LAV definitely defined the mid 80s and made her a household name but as she’s mentioned in the past, the 2 era defining hit singles from LAV made her cringe . Even her first album she co-wrote 3 of the singles.

At this point, I'm not expecting anymore than an acknowledgment of the 40th.  Maybe they will add the Dance remix and  edit to the streaming/digital platforms.  Who knows?  I doubt Nov. 12th will go by without some mention of the album though.  I don't believe there is any hesitation on her part due to her lack of writing credits.  I just don't believe they feel it's a profitable priority. And there might be some truth to it.

I was a kid when Like a Virgin hit MTV. I didn't really like the song but thought she looked stunning🤩Material Girl was even better.. my mother adores Marilyn so I immediately got the Gentlemen Prefer Blondes reference. Into The Groove was a welcomed return to her club roots. Warner/Sire were taking no chances this time. While her 1st album was targeted to club audiences, Like a Virgin was marketed to younger MTV watching teens. It worked out splendidly.. M became a sensation and the rest is pop culture history!

To be exact, Madonna's the sole writer of "Everybody," "Burning Up" and "Lucky Star." I know "Everybody" was supposedly co-written by Stephen Bray, but even the Pre-Madonna album does not list Bray as a writer (only as a producer).

It looks cheap. No cardboard, please.

a large hard cover table book with photos from the era along with the cd, remixes, single versions, videos, interviews and live performances.

She is the #1 visual Pop artist of all-time. No excuses!

And.. warning signs and desperately seeking Susan unreleased tracks thank you

So it's officially 40.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY Like A Virgin!  Shame she and her team didn't commemorate this landmark moment and release something special for the fans. But at least we still have the original album to enjoy.  Let's post more of our favorite things from this era. Here is one of my fav songs from the album...
