I think the biopic should be a book!

It’s a big myth in Madonna fan world then. I have heard this over and over for years and it came from big Madonna fans too.

Yeah, I'm not sure where it started or came from. I personally never heard it myself.  I knew she completely retired in 2015.  My guess, it was made up by those who are looking for anyway to mislead people about Liz's intentions or how horrible it is to work for Madonna.  Seems all silly to me when anyone can easily google Liz and see that she had been representing Cher long before she retired in 2015.  :)

I love Cher. Always have. I did a deep dive into her awhile back, listened to the albums, watched all the videos, Sonny & Cher episodes and so on. Was so much fun.

It made me realise that the claims Madonna did everything first is a bit misleading. There are alot of things Cher did that Madonna was inspired by I think. So much of it was on her 2 tv shows though, which is why it’s kind of buried and forgotten.

The one thing I will say about Cher is that she has never really made great albums the way Madonna has. Shes a wonderful singer with incredible songs but I just don’t think she ever approached music as a songwriter or with any desire to tell her stories. It was always other people’s songs slapped together into an album. So for that reason she’s never really stood out a musician.

Shes a very intriguing and inspiring person though. And an underrated vocalist imo.

Actually she did a really great record in the mid-nineties with material that she co-wrote, but the record company didn't think it was commercial enough, so it was unreleased for five years.

She released the album in November of 2000, and called it Not Com.mercial and it was available from her own website.

Sisters Of Mercy was inspired by Cher's time in an orphanage.

Back to Madonna

I think a thick brick of a book should be written, cause some of us still read books, and there should also be a series of at least ten episodes about her life. Netflix would be perfect for this.

If she insists on directing it, and I'm sure she does, I'm okay with that. She'll fill the gaps and keep us happy with the fortcoming reissues. They will keep us off her back for at least five years. :)

Yeah that one was really good (Still and Fit to fly especially). The late 80s ones had nice stuff on them too, Just like Jesse James, Heart of Stone, Save up all your tears, If I could turn back time, and I adore her covers of Walking in Memphis and Many rivers to cross, that perfectly fit her voice. Cause that is her main musical quality for me, her voice: it's incredible, strong and expressive (I always thought that M's WTGT vocal sound was inspired by her by the way). And she is the only female popstar who can really act at a pretty decent level.
