Obviously if there is a vinyl it won’t be an official release but most likely a bootleg since ToD is owned by Miramax/Disney in the US and MGM/Amazon globally and not Warner Music.

That has nothing to do with it. It could be a vinyl released by another company under license from Warner (something that has happened with compilations featuring a Madonna song, for example). These releases are completely official, even though they were not directly produced by Warner.

A good reverse example is Gambler and Crazy for You. Although they belong to Geffen, they have been officially released by Warner under license.

Do Netflix make those kinds of deals for old concerts that are already on YouTube ?

Why would people pay to see it on Netflix when they can easily watch it for free on Youtube?

A recent/current tour... sure, but none of her older tours will attract an audience except some hardcore fans and they all probably own those tours on past formats.

That's what I'm thinking too

4k, HDR, DOLBY ATMOS, etc , etc.

I don’t see a back catalogue of concerts from legacy artists on there. I don’t think they’re interested. They do need to find a place for this kind of content though. Maybe Spotify will move into this market?

Again, and as I stated, all this would only matter to hard core fans.  Netflix isn't going to go out of their way to just appeal hard core Madonna fans, especially for older concerts no one else will care to watch.

I think if it was a feasible thing it would have happened already with other artists. The thing about Netflix is that they get rid of stuff off their platform all the time. I think Madonna would be better off making her stuff available permanently anyway. She *could* put it on YouTube officially if she wanted to. That’s probably the most likely solution for old concerts.

Correct me if I’m wrong but Madonna doesn’t own the rights to TOD anyway does she? So this release probably has nothing to do with her

Your right. Speilberg owns it. She whinged she had to pay 10 million for a little footage for I'm going to tell you a secret or some other project. One thing, I don't the songs will be from Paris. Not from that concert on the Blu-Ray. It will probably be the Nice tracks, Nothing has surfaced for decades. We are holding on to a fool's hope. We will never see that concert. Imagine. Recording your greatest work and never being able to see it again. This concert Changed concerts. Such a shame. One of the people involved said it was the best recording she had ever seen and watched it about 10 times! Where. I can't believe she would record a concert over 3 nights and throw the footage away. Although this is Madonna we are talking about. Will we even see a release of The Celebration Tour?

I've been thinking about this FOR YEARS. Even though we already own the SD DVDs and HD blu-rays, Youtube could be an amazing platform for her to put all her shows entirely so people can watch them whenever they want to. She should first get rid of all the fan uploads and half-assed 'remasters' and invest some money on promo. I don't know. She deserves better!

Alek a lie!

He expects us to believe they filmed "Express Yourself", "Like A Virgin", "Like a Prayer", "Oh Father", "Hanky Panky", "Vogue", "Holiday" and "Keep It Together" but turn the cameras off for every song in between? The fact that footage of "Causing a Commotion" pops up for a few seconds in the move is proof enough that they filmed more.

The film was shot on celluloid 35 mm. It is a very expensive format and you have only 11minutes of film per roll ... Then you have to change. So yes, they picked up some songs and didn't shoot the all concert. These are facts. Dream is over. Reallity sucks? Sometimes ... But er still have great footage at the end. Enjoy

Toby Phillips who produced the concert sequences said otherwise.

He also did cinematography and stated that he needed to get special permission from Madonna to change the lighting with gels and bring the brightness down, hence why the Paris news footage is darker and with deeper colours. Madonna had concerns the paying audience wouldn't be able to see the show properly and he had to compromise to make sure it looked good on film and good for the audience.

It was a completely different crew that Toby was in charge of, just because Alek claims he only needed certain songs, doesn't mean he made the decision about which parts of the concert were filmed. I doubt he had any say, it was Madonna who decided that.

He said all three nights were shot in full. I doubt Madonna would be willing to compromise her show for three nights just for a handful of songs. Yes it was shot on 35mm film. They shot the B&W scenes on 16mm and shot 250hrs, you think that wasn't expensive?

Like a Prayer and Hanky Panky were originally used as bonus performances for some laserdisc or VHS releases weren't they?

Yes. Truth or Dare was re-released on VHS in May 1992 by Live Home Entertainment and they included both bonus songs at the end of the movie. I got a copy from ICON fanclub back in the day.

Since so many fans had spilled venom on the unknown vinyl, I hope they will just produce 1000 copies with vinyl only cater for fans who really need it.

Let those fans who despise this release keep their coins for their dream LAP / Erotica / BS / ROL ultra mega deluxe multi-disc multi-vinyl with ALL unreleased demo boxsets which will be released in 2099.

I think this actually would be a great way to gain exposure to new audiences beyond her hardcore fans. I just don't think it would be a very big audience. So if it doesn't cost must to put them on Netflix, it may be worth it.

Then again, I doubt her vocal performances from the 80's and the 90's would make great first impressions on potential new fans...

The only way the release her past tours Is to associate them to albums reissues... just like they have been doing with Prince.

Ex: Like a virgin reissue + Virgin Tour bluray

True blue /Who's that girl reissue + Who's that girl tour bluray

Like a prayer/I'm breathless reissue + Blond ambition tour bluray

Erotica reissue + Girlie show tour bluray

and so on...

Allow me to interject and point you toward my YouTube channel with both performances, captured from my own VHS copy:

What a glorious day it will be when these are finally released in some sort of digital format. It will happen eventually.
