I don’t think it has anything to do with the strength of the shows but how big the hardcore fanbase is and how to make the most money. There is a very limited market for dvd/bluray releases at all let alone for old concerts. We did not even get Madame X.

There's plenty of people doing niche releases to hardcore fans. Check out Kim Wilde, Pet Shop Boys, Kylie... Even Donna Summer and Whitney's estate has had live audio/video releases as of late. I'm sure Madonna still have more fans willing to buy stuff than any legacy artist.

Nobody is talking about or expecting a large release to have a number one live DVD+CD, it's not 2005 anymore.

The vinyl will be the Dallas BAT show, according to the distributor, and Warner didn't say no to it (mmhm):

I guess they just licensed one of the million shady bootlegs around of that one?

I was right! SCREAM! Same as The Party's Right Here radio broadcast which was released on CD last year. A dreadful sounding recording.

How can Warner give an ok to a bootleg??? And how can they legally associate it to an official (?) bluray??? I'm confused

Warner don't own the recording. Whichever production company recorded it for the radio station obviously still own or sold on the rights. Possibly a contract fuck-up by Freddy or whoever was doing legals for her back in 1990.

Back then, live albums were common among bootleg companies as she didn't have full rights to the show. Most were ripped from radio broadcasts which I would assume the radio station held the rights to the audio.

But pairing it with an official Blu-ray release would be quite strange. We shall see what happens.

The first remastered french dvd of the documentary was sold with the Nudes 1979 book. Nothing official, and Warner has nothing to do with Truth Or Dare. Same thing is happening with the bluray.

So this means M doesn't have any rights to TOD and they can do any combos they want without her approval? wow... but she still owns the masters, that's weird...

I think owning the masters refers to owning the masters of the original recordings.... all the other recordings (new vocals, live vocals) are separate, and don't fall under the same masters ownership. That's why Taylor re-recorded all of her music, to own the new masters and have control over them.

Yes. It's called the Immaculate Collection. XD

Oh, yeah, I love the Q-sound mix of Promise To Try, Oh Father, Hanky Panky, and Keep It Together, don’t you?

Oh God, I hate the fucking Immaculate Collection as Madonna’s compilation—its Q-sound makes it feel like Madonna’s singing in a bathroom, with the end of the songs butchered and many hits missing...

I think it was madonnatv.com that confirmed Nocturn who shot the screen footage in the arenas/stadiums has every show from WTG onward archived. So the Paris shows likely exist in full.

Yes, This is true to my knowledge. Every single concert is just what you see on the screens.

Toby Phillips talked on the Paris show but I can't remember if it was him who also talked abut Japan or it was someone else. It was from the blog The Beats Within. Whoever ran that blog interviewed two people, Toby and  someone else, a woman whose name I don't remember.

One of them mentioned Japan and the other said they didn't think that had happened. Honestly going off memory as I read the interview only a couple of times and can't find the blog anymore.

I wouldn't consider it 100% confirmed, but more a possibility. I have heard separately that Michael Jackson used the same company and also archived all his performances and Madonna had a habit of using many of the same people as him and we know she has many things archived and in storage.

Plus back in 1990 it was reported Pioneer were originally going to get a compilation of shows from various countries for their Blond Ambition tour release and it would be an around the world compilation rather than one show.

But again I would never consider it confirmed.

Yes, She got Pioneer to sponsor the tour and was not allowed to release a competitive version for 1 year as they were promoting Laserdisc Heavily at the time. But that's long lapsed. I read the blog you are referring to several times, I think her name was Louise or something and she got called in to do this concert with Alek and She said they had 1 night for long shots, 1 night for midshots and 1 night for being on stage with steady cams etc, ie: Live to tell where it goes around her. Why film those bonus tracks and release it once it one territory? Causing A commotion just pops up for no reason. They had it and they have lost it.

She probably has the rights for the film (maybe) but if acompany decide to release it with a bonus bootleg vinyl she has not say in it.

I do get your point though and it would be nice if they release a singles vinyl promoting Truth or Dare.

Yeah the fact they can't even give us unedited versions of the songs in the movie says a lot. Plus they re-created the original trailer and none of the outtakes from songs are used as I assume they didn't have those scenes anymore to re-create it.

I think they did lose all the concert filming tbh, but often those things pop up unexpectedly
