I wrote an article for a scientific magazine on Madonna’s global brand value a equity after the Rio concert, based on 200 questionnaires that reached 22 countries in three languages, it has already been reviewed by the editorial board, resubmitted with corrections and I’m just waiting for the final publishing 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

Awesome

Lady Gaga... what a big fat meh!

They seriously could have just kept bringing Madonna until it became a national holiday or something lol

She really lifted everyone's spirits. The whole country paused to watch her, felt the energy, and shared those emotional moments together. She was the hottest topic for months afterward.

Madonna & Rio were a thing!

I can't picture Gaga having the same impact. But, well, what choice do we have?

I think some are over thinking it.  The  mayor (or whomever) is just considering making this an annual event (thanks to Madonna).  Whom they ask next to perform, doesn't matter.  I mean; they really aren't going to ask someone that isn't going to bring in a decent crowd.  Lady Gaga will, but at this point is any of this really confirmed, she will be the first to follow Madonna?  Or has it merely been just a suggestion/thought at this point?

Regarding the vocals in Rio... The audio from the video/broadcast is not the same as the live sound heard at the beach. The TV broadcast had a 12-minute delay, allowing them to apply filters to her skin and adjust the audio channels for some of the songs. I clearly remember that "Bad Girl" had a very low playback volume, whereas on TV, it was quite loud—almost matching the volume of her live vocals.

We know, only delusional little monsters will say otherwise 😅

Madonna made history in Rio de Janeiro in the first half of this year. The city had never received so many tourists (and money) in a month of May (autumn in Brazil). Madonna's concert in Rio de Janeiro in 2024 had an economic impact of over R$300 million on the state's economy:
The Rio de Janeiro state government announced that the financial return from the concert was higher than expected.
The municipal administration calculated that the concert injected R$293.4 million into Rio's economy, considering the public's spending on food, airfare, transportation and accommodation.
The city's hotel occupancy was almost full, with 96% of the vacancies reserved.
The concert attracted over 1.6 million spectators to Copacabana beach, around 150 thousand of them tourists.

No international artist had performed on Copacabana beach since 2006. Madonna started a new trend. The mayor now wants to bring an international star every year in May. The attraction that comes right after Madonna has already been defined. Lady Gaga will be coming in 2025. As always, Madonna did it first.

When you're truly confident about something, you don't need to proclaim it by starting some petty thread.

I was wondering about that because Gaga fans seems pretty confident that she will out do her, I don't follow her but there saying she's still pretty relevant and songs are in constant rotation over there. I do think that her team will do a much better job at promoting this and using it to hype up something else, I can either see them streaming it on Netflix or something, it's the only reason why I can see her bringing in a bigger crowd.

Its natural for events to get bigger and bigger once something is sucesfull... Now all logistics are ready, hotels, flights. The city structuree etc

There's been a major campaign with the city Mayor, and it seems like they funneled into Beyoncé, Gaga and U2, with Gaga taking the lead. I see it as a very special thing for all sides; the city gets a major bump of tourism, Gaga is finally able to make up for the 2017 cancellation. Rio's mayor is a major marketing man anyway lol. The situation reminds me of the SuperBowl; many people actually did it before with some iconic shows, but Madonna did raise the bar!

Gaga will kill it as well, thank God it's not a straight band taking over.
