I remember thinking this one was kind of insulting at the time.  But today I think it’s pretty funny.  Mad TV

They actually do resemble each other a little to me.

Anyways SNL which is a us show doesn't waste money making a parody of something unknown. American Pie was definitely a thing in America.

Not everyone sticking their finger In her butt crack and using Madonna for party tricks 😂 Kinda nailed the polite Madonna voice in this for me

Great question. The closet thing I could think of when I first read the title of this thread was the Olympia performance during the MDNA tour in Paris. I know this doesn't answer your question exactly,  but this performance paying homage to the French was just so natural for Madonna (and maybe it's because she has some French in her lineage)....

Someone I heard talking about Montreal recently.  I was at the city some years back.  Nice place to visit but I've heard winters there are brutally cold.  Very much helps to speak French as well.

I know I had started a thread here about Madonna and cross jewelry.  While I know her dad was very religious and strict....   Montreal has many Catholic churches there as well.  Many are beautiful and recommended by me to people that like architecture even if non religious.

I thought I remember Madonna saying as well Like A Prayer was dedicated to her mom who taught her how to pray.

Maybe there's some influence there.  But perhaps posters know of more obvious ones?

I remember thinking she was a little nervous in the beginning too. And gawd, I think I was more nervous for her than she was. But, once everything started, she really settled into it all and  had a blast with it. Everything was just perfect. So youthful feeling. I just loved it.

Yeah I know she admitted to being super nervous about it and I thought it kind of showed at first when she came out a little.  But for sure she did put on a really good show.

She''s hardly alone though.  I saw Missy Elliott being interviewed for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame recently.  She said she had an anxiety attack before she went on stage with her Super Bowl performance with Katy Perry.  It started to dawn on her how big a stage it is and how many people watch..

That was my first reaction of my mom who for the most part is largely neutral to her….  Super Bowl well I mean I don’t think she can start trouble on that stage

She definitely was on her best behavior. And whiie I enjoy Madonna being naughty and defiant, I think in life we all know there is a "time and place" for things.  She knew this was a time not to fuck things up with being naughty.  I respect the fact she was able to reel in the defiance and show to the world why she's is known as the "Queen of Pop" regarding her career.
Also Madonna has always been nervous among her peers in the entertainment business, and I'm sure it was no difference with NFL which is a force in America's favorite past time.

Her mom is Quebecois Descendant. She's incorporated Cirque Du Soleil (which originated from Quebec) style in her acts. And was most notably compared to when she did her Girlie show tour.
The Augmented reality technology used during her Billboard Music Award performance was done by Reflector Entertainment (by cirque du soleil founder Guy Laliberté)
Her backdrops in 2010s tour were produced by Moment Factory which is a company from Montreal.
Although her inspirations in visual art doesn't stem from any French Canadians, she's partnered with some.

Yeah!  Superbowl is a pretty sacred ground and she admitted that in promo interviews for her 2012 appearance.  If she did anything remotely too much, she would have been ripped to shreds.  In fact, some still gave her a hard time when M.I.A flipped the bird.  LOL!  But luckily, most brushed it off. She really came off on top after that performance.  I had people who knew I was a fan, approach me and ask questions about her.  Some couldn't believe she was in her 50's at that point.

True Blue I wasn't around for ...wasn't born until 6 years later BUT it's a blockbuster 1986 had True Blue and ALIENS two of the greatest pop block busters ever in music and film I dare say!
Also I adore her dresses and street jacket! That aesthetic id adore her to bring back

This album sent Madonna’s career into another realm of its own. I think it’s at this point people really started thinking of Madonna as a true artist and song writer. ...and furthermore that she was going to be around for a long time to come in a diverse and unafraid way.

I never thought of it, but that’s a great idea! I’d also choose The Virgin Tour for that reason.
And of course, the Confessions Tour. Everything about it is perfect: the set, the visuals, the choreography, her performance, and even how it was edited for the DVD version. Pure art!

The Virgin Tour- where it all started.  Would be something to see Madonna wannabes from that era in person.

Drowned World- just to go back in time. It’s the first tour I remember her being on.  I saw Madonna more as this beautiful goddess of a woman only.  I could appreciate the performances and what not more now.
