mouse reacted to Voguerista in Madonna kicked off her Who's The Girl European tour in Leeds back in 1987
I nice tribute to Madonna. I wish she'd have an outside concert again too! What a set list too at the time!! Could she have done it any better? No imo.....
Madonna kicked off her Who's The Girl European tour in Leeds back in 1987
Madonna kicked off her European leg of the Who's That Girl tour in Leeds
We are taking a look back at when Madonna mania took over Leeds as the pop princess played Roundhay Park at the peak of her powers.
The material girl played an outdoor concert at the park to a crowd of 73,000 people in 1987. Tickets for the big event were on sale officially for £15 but because it didn’t reach full capacity lucky fans could bag a ticket from touts for just £2 on the day.
At the time, the security was as stringent as it had ever been for a music event at Roundhay Park with thousands queueing to get in before the gates opened. On the day, there were 60 people arrested - mostly for public order offences.
During the Who’s That Girl tour Madonna played iconic hits such as Holiday, Like a Virgin, Lucky Star and many more in Leeds.
We’ll tell you that for copyright reasons it would be highly unlikely news crews would be able to broadcast footage from massive gigs these days - so we hope you savoured that behind the scenes access.
Speaking to the crowd on the night, Madonna, said: “I’m really cold up here, it is windy and it might rain. Wait a second though, I want you guys to keep me warm and keep each other warm.”
That got a big cheer from the audience as the superstar bounced around the stage in a wide array of outfits.
Setlist
As we said, Madonna treated fans to some of her biggest songs during her appearance at Roundhay Park.
Here’s the setlist from the 90-minute concert which happened on August 15, 1987:
Open Your Heart
Lucky Star
True Blue
Papa Don't Preach
White Heat
Causing a Commotion
The Look of Love
Dress You Up
Material Girl
Like a Virgin
Where's the Party
Live to Tell
Into the Groove
La Isla Bonita
Who's That Girl
Holiday

Leeds City Council made roughly £70,000 from the successful show - receiving £1 for each ticket sold. The money was reinvested in the park to improve facilities at the venue.
For those who fancied some merch on the day, you could get a programme for £5, a t-shirt for £9 and a jumper for £15.
Down the years, Roundhay Park has welcomed many big names who have performed to thousands. Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, Genesis, U2 and many more.
In recent years, there was a distinct lack of big gigs at Roundhay Park but that all changed when Ed Sheeran did two dates there in 2019.
It is hoped those shows will mark the return of superstars playing outdoor concerts there.

You know, pretending not to know when you know exactly know what people, only to find a reason to complain, isn’t a very intelligent way to carry out a conversation. Everyone knows quite well that the album version is called album version or Acoustic version and the dance demo is called Avicii demo.

Just for fun I've edited the extended remixes of these songs to be similar to their album versions. They sound almost identical to the album versions, but they have new elements or instruments not available in the album versions.
Like A Virgin (Remix Edit) 4:04 *New*
Material Girl (Remix Edit) 4:01
Over And Over (Remix Re-Edit) 5:28
Cherish (Remix Edit) 5:01
Bad Girl (Remix Edit) 5:28
Secret (Junior's Luscious Club Edit) 4:54
Don't Tell Me (Tracy Young Alternative Club Mix Edit) 5:28
EDIT: All the remix edits of this post reuploaded in a single rar file:

Lets set some things straight. I have read multiple texts from folks, blaming Madonna for money loss, lost flight tickets, her injuries, her behavior, even for the corona virus. Folks who swear they are hardcore madonna fans but demand her to retire.
Ok SO,
if you are a real fan - friend - lover - follower
►You never demand or even want someone to let go of what they love the most.
►If you like to follow an artist who is super sweet and maybe -fakesweet- go follow someone else.
►When you book tickets for any single happening, concert, holidays, travel, you should always expect unpredictable cancellations and date changes.
►The more you ask her to retire, the more she will not. That is what you don't get and that is why Madonna will never be compared to any other artist. Because she is a fucking lion who does not give a single F for bitches who reflect their real life scenarios into the actual worship they show to their favorite artist.
►I have produced for MADAME X album 7 remixes for her which followed the process of becoming official but did not.
I didn't even think for a single moment that she is a bitch for not releasing my remixes. I continued to respect her even more and set my bars higher for the next time.
PEACE.

The best part when you don't expect much anymore from someone is that you cannot be disappointed. I am not resigned or bitter i just live in peace with the fact that the artist i'm a fan of had an amazing career and that the best is behind. I had the chance to see her live 4 times when she was on top of her game (Drowned world tour, reinvention, Confessions etc...) and i keep only good memories. I don't buy tickets for her tours since 2008. I consider myself a lucid fan now. If she creates another musical masterpiece then great, it's gonna be a bonus and if not then it's ok and i think that is what is most likely to happen. Fact is she gave us so much quality during 3 decades. I stopped trying to force myself thinking her new songs are masterpieces like the stuff she released years ago or comparing them with her past glories, i was torturing myself for nothing and most of all i was fooling myself. I just take them for what they are (in my opinion of course), and i feel peacefull. All these dramas about the tour is really no suprise for me, it flows naturally with what is Madonna at 61, a lady going out with 25 years old boy, releasing average music and having a face full of fillers and huge booty implants. Shocking reality check lol ! Am i still a fan ? Oh yeah and forever. Do i love what she has became ? No, but i love every seconds of the 30 first years. Do i think things will get better ? No, quite the opposite. Do i think it's normal ? In a way yes. If you decide to keep going on and on with your career when you reach a certain age there are strong chances you will lost it and it will go downhill in a not beautiful way. This is a choice, this is her choice. Accept, let it go and feel good.

Apologies - she said ibuprofen and paracetamol specifically - neither of which I believe you can be easily addicted to except by habit, it’s opioids and stronger that are addictive and hopefully she has avoided those

mouse reacted to clkelley39 in The Madame X Tour is almost over... so what happens next?
We have to (and she has to) stop wishing for a comeback. She's never going to be the biggest star in the world again. The 80's are gone, her 20's are gone, and neither are ever coming back. There are younger artists having their moment right now, just as she once did. Each generation has to have their own generation-defining artists. Madonna had her moments in 1985, 1990, 1996, 2000, etc. She is a legacy artist now.
Let's just enjoy the niche art she puts out, like Madame X and the Madame X Tour, enjoy her back catalogue, and all grow old together

mouse got a reaction from RinoTheBouncer in No hating but...what happened to Madonna after 2007?
Personally, I think that the divorce + her 50 years were a disastrous cocktail.
We are all equal in time, but for someone who has played with her body & face all her career, it must be very hard.
I never thought she would age like this (too much surgery, face and body). I thought she was more like Jane Fonda for example.
But I don't judge. It must be a very hard fight for her.
For the rest, in my opinion, she only has people who says amen to everything she does or say. No one should contradict her (professionally or personally).
She became for me a terrible human being.
Recent stories from theater staff who can't watch her and turn their backs, toilet seats wich must be changed regularly ... God, she was always a bitch, but that is really embarassing.
I used to admire her so much as an artist and as a human being. She inspired me. Not anymore. Her strength remains admirable. The rest is gone. She lost her mojo but I still like her ! Truth is I feel very nostalgic. It's surely because I'm getting older too ...
I hope for massive change in the future. More simplicity in everything (music, style, surgery). Focused on her legacy. And maybe a greatest tour to reconect people with her... Dreams can come true
