No offence but I don't think Lady Gaga innovated anything.  The electro-dance pop sound was already trending by the time she released The Fame (just the previous year we had Rihanna's Don't Stop The Music and Disturbia, Kylie Minogue's X album, Flo Rida's Low, Hilary Duff's Dignity album, M.I.A.'s Paper Planes.  Rihanna's SOS was already 3 years old by then.  The Dr. Luke/Max Martin/Bloodshy & Avant electro/rock/pop/hip hop sound was already in full swing after Kelly Clarkson's Since U Been Gone, Avril Lavigne's Girlfriend, The Veronicas 4Ever, Britney's Blackout and Circus albums.  The tropical pop vibes of Eh Eh Nothing Else I Can Say had Kevin Lyttle's Turn Me On and Paris Hilton's Stars Are Blind as a blueprint.  Musically, The Fame gave us nothing that hadn't come out before, just now with performance art lifted from David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, Elton John, and modern pop-art artists.
Or if we want to talk about how Alejandro's reggae pop was a callback to Ace of Base, Born This Way was Express Yourself 2.0, The Fashion of His Love was I Wanna Dance With Somebody 2011, You & I was a Shania Twain song + the step step clap of We Will Rock You... I can keep going.

That is true! True Blue was originally not going to be a single at all. I think it was rush-released because radio stations loved it and it received airplay without beibg a single.

Warner US and Warner UK were different label and marketing teams, though. As soon as she took off in the UK the British team decided to fully capitalize on it, probably thinking, like most of the rest of the world then, that she was the flavor of the moment and her success wouldn't last. While the US team probably saw more in the medium/long term.

Thank you, this is what I’ve been trying to say from the start.
There are modern artists whose music I don’t particularly enjoy, but you still end up knowing their singles, even if you don’t want to. With Taylor Swift, though, it’s different. I know her as a successful singer because of the news and the internet, but I’ve barely heard any of her music on the radio, TV, or elsewhere, unlike artists like Billie Eilish, Ed Sheeran, The Weeknd, Harry Styles, Lady Gaga, Dua Lipa, and others, whose music I come across more frequently.
And that's why I believe, in my opinion, that Madonna's music is well-known worldwide, while Taylor Swift's music isn’t as widely recognized

Does Taylor have 400 million records sold?  Has she had a successful career for 40 years?  Any awards for best actress?  Does every female pop artist copy her style and concert script? Does Taylor Swift reinvent herself for every era?  Nope!

    Or
My name is Taylor, I'll be your waitress tonight
I'd like to bring you your French fries… 🎵
I'd like to serve you something nice
If I bring your plate in time, hope it suits your appetite

If I'm in charge, and I take my time with style
Will you give me a good tip? 🎵
Give it up, try something new
Give it up and let me cater to you
I'll bring you love, I’ll serve it with a smile
Once you’ve tasted what I make, you'll never be the same, there's a certain satisfaction in a dish with just a touch of cardigan

I don´t want to put down Taylors achievement, and for sure, Madonna is not as popular as she was cause when I started following her around 99 she was everything in a very different world we were living in. The thing is Taylor´s popularity will have an end too. And let´s see how is she remebered 40 years later. The world is changing so fast we don´t know.
To me, artists like Michael Jackson, Madonna, Streisand, Whitney, Madonna, Beatles..are above everything we have these days. They are icons not matter the current popularity. Their songs are hyms forever.
I really can´t sing any lines from a Taylor Swift song, she is really not very interesting for me But the same I never liked very much Gaga, except I know some songs from her.
Madonna was a product, but also an artist, changed everything, made history, and will be an icon forever not matter what. Let´see this today artists how are they remembered 30 years later.

But I'm not saying is irrelevant... I just said that here in Spain she's not as important as Madonna was.
I lived the 80's and I can say how important Madonna was at the time, not because I read it on Internet, because everybody listened her music. I've looked for the most listening artists in Spotify in Spain in 2023 and TS was 134... That makes her be the greatest star here in Spain? I doubt it... As I said, here people prefer other artists and she's known but sHERE she's not as important as people are trying to say. She's a known artist and that's all.

No joke, I once read in a news magazine in the late 80s that Madonna was, quite literally, more universally recognized than the Bible.

I have a large CD collection that I never play either. I do have a CD player and DVD/Blu-ray/CD player but no longer use them.  When I play physical music, it's my Vinyls now.

She has 0 cultural impact. Standing with a guitar singing about your ex has the cultutal impact of a pigeon on a roof. Shania Twain had way more charisma and personnality than her. She's the blandest succesful singer ever.

Where exactly in my post did I mention her songwriting?
Where do you live? I only said that here in Italy she is just famous but no one knows her songs. And they are never on the radio. Strange cause this doesn't happen to Whitney or Celine or Gaga or Katy or Pink.
And yes, multiple women can make good music. To me, for instance, Cyndi Lauper is a great artist, even if she isn't selling million records anymore.

It's still rare.  Still, RSD's purpose is to celebrate the experience of buying physical music in a record store.  It's mostly aimed at Vinyl releases, but occasionally there are releases beyond that.  Nothing is impossible, but if all the artists start releasing things digitally on streaming, it would defeat the purpose of the day.
It's not something I really worry about when it comes to obtaining it digitally/streaming because eventually someone rips it, and makes it available. But still, I'm going to snatch up the VInyl at all possible.  Nothing is better than owning a physical copy of your favorite artist's work.  Vinyl is my preference anymore.

Sometimes a few weeks later but yeah. I also remember a Prince release ("The Versace Experience") going on digital almost at the same time as the RSD release.
I don't think there's a strict rule about not having that content on digital, just something they do maybe out of respect for the RSD tradition.

Nov 12 is also a Tuesday.
It could just be something similar to previous anniversaries: articles, social media campaigns, etc etc
