Because I have no interest in it. I've never read a book about Madonna and I doubt I'll ever do so, mostly because I feel like I know enough about her already and I just don't have the time or patience. Also I suspect that some of the things in said book are either exaggerations or blatant lies, so yeah.

I read the book a long time ago, and although most of it has faded from my memory, I don’t recall it speaking negatively about Madonna or revealing anything about her character that we didn’t already know. In fact, it portrayed her with a lot of admiration, and the real criticism was aimed at people like Sean or Guy, for example, or described how they gradually drifted apart and stopped talking due to outside influences.
I actually found it to be a pretty interesting read, but I barely remember the book now, so my impression of it might not be entirely accurate. I do remember thinking that he seemed like her number one fan, very hurt by their increasingly evident separation. I got the impression that he wrote the book desperately as a way to get his sister's attention, but she clearly chose to ignore it.

He sounded bitter when he wrote it.  While I'm sure his sister isn't the easiest person in the world to deal with it seemed uncool for the most part for him to talk that way about her.  And spill some of her secrets/dirty laundry.

That being said I've listened to a Howard Stern interview Chris did around the time the book came out.  I thought he would come across a lot worse in attacking his sister but he really didn't.

The one thing I would agree with him is the whole I came to NYC with just $35 in my pocket was a bit fabricated.

I read it and enjoyed it. I believe a lot of what Chris said but of course there's always 2 sides to every story and we haven't heard Madonna's.
The book wasn't really that aggressive imo, though it could certainly be argued it was a betrayal.

My guess is he regrets it since he could be on a private beach right now celebrating her birthday instead of doing god knows what in L.A. lol

He actually praised her more than speaking negatively about her. And the things that were negative was how she was a complete bitch to work with (which we knew), her sudden change after meeting Guy Ritchie, and her obsession with Kabbalah and how she used it was a weapon towards her loved ones.

I personally loved all the behind the scenes drama. It was quite the ride!

I remember going on a theatre contract in summer of 2009, in a town 3 hours away from home staying in an actors house with 6 other guys. I remember not being able to really connect with them and read the book out on the patio alone. The juiciest tea before tea was a thing. I was furious with Christopher LOL.

I understand what you mean. As far as Madonna biographies, I’ve only read his book and “a rebel life” since the author was more known for factual albeit  dry biographies than salacious sh#t we’ve already read elsewhere ( I actually had fun filling in the blanks of her book w the tabloid details stuck in my head).  IMO Chris was a dick to write it BUT his version of events is the closest anyone is going to get to understanding her. His lens as a brother/ backup dancer/ collaborator/ confidant/ decorator/ bitter exiled sibling is unmatched no matter how anyone feels about him.

    Nice find, @Prayer.
It seems that Guy's role has evolved into a high-level manager who mainly influences the 'broad strokes' of her career and businesses in terms of major deal negotiations, etc.
However, throughout that she would still consult him on creative projects, such as during the making of ROL, and when he shot down her Black Madonna album concept, etc...
I just scanned through Guy's 2022 Variety feature and found this part kind of funny:
"...I became the dad you want to rebel against, and now I’m like grandpa. She’s like, ‘You are so fucking boring. I don’t even know why I have you around.'"
That interview's title 'Guy Oseary, NFT King' really aged well, huh?

I understand that we defend Madonna because we love her, but I sometimes don't understand how people can judge and condemn someone without being there or knowing exactly what happened between them. We all know that Madonna is not the easiest person to deal with.
I don't know what happened between them, and I don't feel capable of pointing out who was at fault because they both could have been responsible, as often happens between two friends.

Maybe you should go and get your eyes checked because no-one was criticising her?
And the entire fabric of this forum is made up of the minutiae of her output, personality, appearance, social posts, etc...
For real, Madonna stans have got to be one of the most absurdly hypersensitive fandoms out there.

Ohhh...well i think her speech at billboard brought up a point i had never thought of, when she was married she wasn't seen as a threat. The Ritchie years were wild and ngl when i think of her, I think of that y2k madonna and she was generally loved. Did she face criticism? Yes but definitely not the same tone. I think history often repeats itself and I think of how when films depicted women behaving badly, they had to he punished by dying in the film to send a moral message. I think if she was still married to Guy, we would be seeing a very different reaction to her. It's a double edged sword because (only my personal view) she was severely dimmed. She tried her best to be the good wife, the good girl, the good mother. Once the divorce happened she went back to who she was before marriage and maybe it can be taken as regressive and a devolution and because she was already considered old, she never had the "revenge dress" moment many young women are afforded. She behaved like a "man" and dated young, dressed young, and was going through a midlife crisis of sorts. One entertainment show, someone said and this always makes me chuckle...was she gonna be slutty or go through a mia farrow adopting alot of kids midlife crisis. I hope when she passes people will have a better understanding and think of her in a fond way. She really is one of the last pop stars of the golden age of modern pop music the way Joan bette marlene and garbo were the last of the golden age of Hollywood.

Out of all looks 😅😅😅 but i definitely don't remember it being a thing...i think the most jarring appearance was the hard candy gym in mexico appearance. Now THAT was...uh...a pillow face. I've been thinking and wondering for years now ever since Feud Bette + Joan, when she's long gone and we're all old how will her later years be perceived. There's an incident where Joan sees one bad photo and she's horrified and goes into hiding and just pretty much ages as a recluse. There's a saying, you either die the hero or you live long enough to die the villian and it's sad but true I feel like society would've preferred her gone so they could at least commodify her death and legacy.

On a side note, i think its so funny how someone like Pam Anderson could totally change public opinion just by not wearing makeup and all of a sudden praised for being "natural".

So true. I looked it up and it was August 2013, by the way.
She'd just turned 55 and was probably reacting to criticism about her face during that June's Sound Of Change event.
Remember when some of the public and tabloid media thought it looked 'swollen' and OTT?
Come to think of it, she's still pushing the public's perception when it comes to that.
