@Would You Like To Try In my humble opinion, speed up and slow down versions are abominations. I detest them with every cell of my body.

Does the DWT LA recording count?

lennyleonard reacted to musicinferno in Britney Spears wacky life is getting a biopic. Who should play Madonna? Which moments would be interesting to see?
It won't be a big name actress as she'll probably only be in one scene, hell IF she's even in the movie at all.

This happened with Kate Bush's catalogue, when it was remastered in 2018.
Her albums already had great sound quality (I think that the fact that she's been the only producer of her recordings for more than 40 years, and how protective she's been about her work have a lot to do with that) on CD, and the remasters ended up having just as good/even better sound than the original releases. In some albums/tracks, they had even lower volume.
The whole project was done by James Guthrie, who amongst many other things, did the mixing of... the Extended Version of Cherish, and Supernatural (which was just released, what a coincidence)

Remastered doesn't mean compressed, but in this decade people mean 'louder' when they say they want a remaster. Sad but true.

You’re absolutely right; that’s really the key. However, Madonna has been killing the dynamic range since the Music album. If she doesn’t care... I dream of hearing Confessions, MDNA, American Life, Music and many more with their original dynamic range, before it was compressed for the CD releases.

Definitely! That would make Like A Prayer shine!
The first four albums need remastering by an absolute surgeon of an engineer. Someone who can EQ well and use a limiter in a gentle way without killing all sense of dynamic range. Not brick it like the 2001 releases.
Songs like Physical Attraction and Into The Groove almost give me a headache with how they were remastered in the 2000s.

I don't know if they made it different across platforms, but I compared a download of LAP 30th I had from Qobuz with Supernatural from the Japanese CD Single Collection boxset, and they actually cancelled each other out, meaning it's the same track/mastering! Once the 7" is released in a few hours, I'll compare it with that boxset one more time, but hopefully it will be the same again.
Some tracks from the La Isla Bonita EP were from the 2001 remasters, but the Remix/Edit (which was what we were actually looking forward to on that EP lol) is not remastered, it matches the one on the Various Remixes, CD #1 that Bertrand shared.
Angel matches some tracks with the Yellow CD Single (at least in speed, don't know about EQ, because the one that I have is one that Aiwa08 kindly shared, EQ'd).
And they also didn't tamper with (thank God!) the YCD Single Edits

Of course you can. We're not toddlers in debating club, we're adults discussing real life. A business mandating behaviour which protects its employees and the public from infectious diseases is very clearly not analogous to mandating behaviour which has zero impact on other employees or customers. It's not difficult.

lennyleonard reacted to Aiwa08 in [FANMADE] Burning Up (First Album Version) [Hybrid Source]
What the hell is hybrid source? Well, it means that I took the instrumental version from a digital source and combined it with the vocal from the Japanese vinyl. It's not entirely digital, but it's an improvement over the vinyl-only version.

I don't like "LAP 30" that much or "True Blue 35th", but they're just anniversary digital editions, just like any other big artist has different editions for some albums. Maybe they'll stay even when/if proper expanded reissues come in the future. They're harmless.

lennyleonard reacted to MPowered in Single Reissues Campaign - Causing a Commotion - OUT NOW
Actually this is what the should have done:
- Remove the old remastered versions, especially those with the messed up/incorrect song versions
- Replace them all with the original album masters
- Start releasing the singles in 2019 instead of waiting A WHOLE FUCKING YEAR after LAP 30
We would have all of them by now. The “expanded” and “anniversary editions” along with Finally Enough Love are precisely what dragged out this whole campaign and made the single releases patchy and incomplete.
There is a whole release time line in the pinned post.

I am very happy to finally be getting some of these mixes and edits digitally! I would love to finish the 80's though with:
Everybody (Rusty Egan Mixes)
Burning Up (Jellybean Remix)
Dress You Up (Remix Edit)
Over and Over (Remix and Dub)
Causing A Commotion (Mixes and Dub)

lennyleonard reacted to steady75 in MADONNA AND WARNER MUSIC GROUP ANNOUNCE MILESTONE, CAREER-SPANNING PARTNERSHIP!!
The weird thing about Like A Virgin is that despite being her first huge moment it’s not what you would hail a great album. It’s a poor listen. Any added content will need to do a lot of the heavy lifting and by that I mean if Into The Groove and Crazy For You aren’t included it’s a bit of a wet blanket with only the two gimmicky singles Material Girl and Like A Virgin being real huge hitters. I adore Dress You Up and Angel but they’re not a GP draw.
They really need to pitch it as the Like A Virgin era to make it feel like a behemoth.
Like A Virgin
Material Girl
Crazy For You
Angel
Into The Groove
Dress You Up
Gambler
Love Don’t Live Here Anymore
..feels worthy of it being the launchpad release. Otherwise they should lead with True Blue which is just iconic and insanely packed with her best singles run.

Im very happy to have the singles on streaming. I just didn't realise they would repeat the exact release schedule from 40 yrs ago to finally get them all on
