I’d have to agree that with hindsight, Madame X makes for a tedious listen. It also happens to correspond to a time in my life that was particularly difficult, and so I don’t have any peripheral memories to bolster any affection for it. Intellectually, there is a concept behind the album, but it fails to ever deliver on fully developing what could have been a master work. The production, dare I say, is what truly drags the good songs into the mud. I think Medellin, Dark Ballet, Killers, Crazy and Crave are the closest to achieving their sonic goals, but even the gorgeous Come Alive, Extreme Occident, Looking For Mercy and I Rise are just plain burdened with unnecessary vocal filters, and either kitchen sink production or meandering studio tricks that never build to a satisfying conclusion. The inclusion of Faz Gostosa is baffling as it belongs on a totally different album, and there are no words to ever describe how angry Bitch I’m Loca makes me as a total waste of space that, in addition to being substandard, adds to the disastrous interruption to the flow of the album that its predecessor begins. Five years later I am quite certain that the overuse of pitch correction and auto tune was a grotesque miscalculation that renders the entire project less heart-driven and soulful, when that is exactly what these songs needed the most. The fact that Madonna hasn’t released an album since makes me wonder if her creative force has been spent, which is truly a shame as I had always hoped for her deepest most insightfully introspective and philosophical work to continue to evolve out of the experiment that was Madame X.

The fact that its heavy-handed approach trumps Hard Candy’s basic lack of appeal to me in making it to the bottom of the list says a lot! At least HC delivered an era that brought joy and smiles to many on a stellar global tour. On tour, Madame X seemed determined to either kill me by asphyxiation from overheating in the stifling theater settings or drive me to suicide with its general darkness, only heightened by Madonna’s constant pain. A very strange era in Madonna’s storied career. Perhaps it will be revisited differently in the future, but upon recently trying to listen to it, I felt the distinct combination of indifference, boredom and sadness. Not a good look.

Does Taylor have 400 million records sold?  Has she had a successful career for 40 years?  Any awards for best actress?  Does every female pop artist copy her style and concert script? Does Taylor Swift reinvent herself for every era?  Nope!

"Bitch I'm Madonna" sounds believable as a means to shut someone down. "Bitch I'm Taylor Swift" has no pull.

If you were part of the M game in the 90s and 00s (and also the 80s under a certain point of view) ... oh well mate, then you do know what hating an artist is really like  everybody, from critics to omophobic bullies at school to your acid aunt who provoked every time she met you, felt intitled to offend her, her work, her fanbase, your specific taste in music or cultural references. And we took it all in knowing that the main message we listened to by her was: if you sincerely like or believe in something, well fuck them all and go your way, enjoy who you are and grow when you're wrong
But of course this is about M fans, Swift is about being nice and likable so I guess some opinions and jokes on a Madonna forum can really feel harsh.
(let me precise AGAIN that, even believing in what I'm writing, the tone I'm using is that direct and maybe unpleasent just because we are talking about a very frivolous thing, I don't mean to bully anybody, Swift included; it is kinda part of a game where you loathe some tones to provoke or have fun just because it's not - I really hope - something that could really hurt anybody: I hope this difference between real bullying and animatedly and ironically debating about a light subject is clear and well percieved).

    As a product, yes.
As a cultural phenomenon? No. And the world we live today doesn't allow the likes of Madonna and Michael Jackson to exist anymore.

so I wouldn't worry, Madonna is safe from that insignificant crap .

Let's celebrate this transitional song about Sean !
    True Blue
    Causing a Commotion
(maybe The Look of Love and Can't Stop too but she stated in Rolling Stone in september of 1987 that CAC was about her chaotic relationship with Sean)
Possesive Love (seems to be about a controlling relationship wether she's talking about her control issues or Sean's)
Just A Dream (i keep your photograph by my bed to remind me i was part of your life, sleep has always been kind and in my dreams you'll always be mine but in the morning when i wake i remember and my heart just aches)
Supernatural (the bit about bring obsessed with his hair which Sean was famous for in the press then and the whole track seems to be metaphore about the last year of their marriage when he was a ghostly presence in her life)
    Cherish (hope)
Till death do us part (end)
There were rumours about Thief of hearts being about Robin Wright

When you point your  finger there are 3 fingers pointing back to you is factually incorrect. You point with your finger way from your palm not towards your palm, Madonna.

Revenge and GGG sound like Mozart compared to some of the material she's released in the last 15 years. Her vocals, the emotion and melody are all there. I'm sure you would all gag for them and the Offer Nissim Sarcophagus 12" Anthem mixes of said tracks had she released them.

I wonder if we would have gotten a cheesier, trancier version of ROL in '96 if not for Mehvita. I'm sure I would have loved every bit of it.

Interesting. He seems so full of himself but maybe it's just the way he comes across?
I think this is they key why she likes him so much:
I wonder if it's because you've humanized Madonna, one of the most famous and most powerful people in entertainment.
Before working with her I always respected her and her as an artist, but it wasn't the type of music I would listen to. One time she asked me, “Did you come out to my music?” And I was like, “No,” because it's the truth. I love her, but I was just listening to other things.
We know from the past she likes people not seeing her like a creamy smooth pop icon goddess. This guy seems like he couldn't care less about her pop status.
At the same time, he's a little bit clueless in general right? This part about the "Celebration Tour":
Visually, it's a such a minimal show, but still feels huge. It doesn't have many props, it doesn't have 100 chairs, it doesn't have stairs. It's really just a video and a stage. And for such a big pop artist to do that, everything else has to be solid. And I'm actually so happy that she allowed herself to do that. It's way, way stronger, because it's all about her and the dancers. And if that is not good enough, then the show wouldn't be good.
Minimal? Doesn't have many props? Doesn't have stairs? It's just a video and a stage?
PLEASE. It's a technical nightmare. The million stage changes, the million dancers on stage, the million screens, the CUBE, the flying portrait... this guy was there every night? That comment was more like he was talking about Rosalía's "Motomami Tour".
    He's just... there...

I absolutely love Candy Shop. I gave Body Shop a few chances but nothing happened (not even its live version caught me). I always have a great time when it comes to Candy Shop and its 9484377373 versions. Also, it's a remarkable one as it was the very first song I saw Madonna sing live, since Sticky & Sweet was the first M tour I attended back in 2008. So, yeah, Candy Shop does have a special place in my playlists
