I don’t think Spanish speaking countries are as influenced by her fame as Madonna did
Media is very much fragmented making her, yes incredibly large fan base remain within their own ecosystem young girls from an specific socio demographic group
Madonna, at least in Mexico at her peak was known by everyone and all their family up to their great grandparents… TV was an unifying media… it was a social event, not the case anymore, media is fragmented, info is fragmented, entertainment consumption is fragmented as well.

The way popularity is measured has changed since the 80’s. It’s a different time so it’s hard to compare. But Taylor is talked about everywhere all the time in the same way Madonna was. Maybe it’s different in your country…. that’s kind of a relief for me if I’m honest. Maybe I should move there.

But I'm not saying is irrelevant... I just said that here in Spain she's not as important as Madonna was.
I lived the 80's and I can say how important Madonna was at the time, not because I read it on Internet, because everybody listened her music. I've looked for the most listening artists in Spotify in Spain in 2023 and TS was 134... That makes her be the greatest star here in Spain? I doubt it... As I said, here people prefer other artists and she's known but sHERE she's not as important as people are trying to say. She's a known artist and that's all.

Let’s be honest, I’m from Spain too and I don’t like Taylor Swift, but it’s very hypocritical to say that Shake It Off is her only well known song. She is seen on TV multiple times, she is heard on the radio, supermarkets, malls and shops. For example: Lover, We Are Never Getting Back Together, I Knew You Were Trouble, Blank Space…
The fact that we don’t like her music and we prefer Madonna all over doesn’t make her irrelevant or a one-hit wonder, let’s be honest.
And please don’t come for me, I’m not a TS stan, I prefer B-Day Song, Score, Trust no Bitch and Spanish Lesson over any of her hit songs.

Damn so many out of touch people, it doesn't surprise me. Ive said for years that madonna fans are no longer connected to the zeitgeist and the zeitgeist has no interest in madonna. If you can't name a song other than Shake it Off you're either too old or have been living under a rock. It's giving me "madonna sucks now despite me not listening to any of her albums since Immaculate Collection". I've never owned a Taylor album but I'd be pretty stupid to say I only know Shake it Off. What's next, Lady Gaga is a one hit wonder with Poker Face? Britney only had Oops I Did It Again?

    As a product, yes.
As a cultural phenomenon? No. And the world we live today doesn't allow the likes of Madonna and Michael Jackson to exist anymore.

so I wouldn't worry, Madonna is safe from that insignificant crap .

The Mdna version could have surpassed the best version up to that time, which was the one from the Blond Ambition Tour, but unfortunately its short length prevented it from achieving this in the end. And to think that this song was cut in length because it had to give way to a totally macabre and diabolical version of Hung Up that was not to the taste of most of her fans.

How did calling Madonnas tour the regurgitation tour change your life? Has Madonna ever fat shamed you? Why did you think it was okay to perform Madonna songs without her when you were not hired on for the tour and had to sit in the audience and pay for a ticket? Bonus question : were you or Donna approached to appear in Madonnas sex book at the time?If so how did you react. If not were you upset?

MDNA and RHT sounded atrocious with the (fake) overly loud crowd noise.

While looking at Madonna’s pictures at the movie theatre for the premiere, I was wondering if she had fun? Does she knows the characters and understood the storyline and jokes? 😂

I loved the Madonna Deadpool with the Blond Ambition ponytail ♥️

Mmm.. maybe the diaries are but you can easily prove a lot of things he says in interviews wrong like dates and such. Let alone that he contradicts himself a lot.
I'm not saying he is malicious about it because memories fade and he is not a stan like us who thinks about those things everyday, but still...

At the end of the day we also have Madonna on record attributing Express Yourself to Pat Leonard and remembering the VMAs 84 and American Bandstand differently than the actual footage...

Agree, Love Hurts is a great track I go to very often.
I always guess why when Erotica got to her final stage they simply chose to take You thrill me off. She clearly likes that song (she included it in the Confessions and in the Celebration tour) and it's actually sexy and dramatic and cool at the same time. They could have produced a new instrumental, maybe writing some spoken parts and include it in the album. I'm sure it would have worked better than Did you do it, don't you?

Is this video supposed to be against misogyny? I rather see the typical video where women continue to pander to the sexist vision that men have of them by presenting semi-naked women showing their breasts and butts in close-up. Where are the ordinary women that we usually see around the corner, on the subway or in the supermarket? Flabby women, women with bellies, women who don't shave their armpits, ugly women, old women, women who burp or fart without caring about the delicacy and femininity that men so admire and demand of them? I'm glad Madonna wasn't part of this absurd project.
Once again the inconsistency of these artists who claim to fight for minorities but at the same time are great friends of famous homophobic or misogynistic people whom they choose as producers of their albums. Fortunately, Madonna is not on that path of falsehood and hypocrisy. She is the only artist who can boast of being consistent with her convictions and does not sell her soul to anyone in order not to lose success and fortune and that's what I admire most about her.

Or they could be waiting for a genuine public reception. If they have an idea the public isn't going to latch on to it, it's possible they won't want to spend anymore time and money in promoting it.  Therefore they will move on to another song. It's possible they anticipated this. After all, she's released numerous one off singles in the past and they haven't taken off for her.  And I will admit, Katy doesn't have the same public interest as she used to have.  If radio doesn't get on board in playing her new song, then there is really no hope.  This is just the way the music world works.  Also, I see many here raving about Kesha's new track, but it's not doing any better and it's been out for several weeks now.  So again, you can't go by reviews and streaming charts, but even so, fans will enjoy it no matter what.

And maybe the song will "bomb" in the sense of how people consider what is a "hit", but it won't change how many actually still enjoy it.  Besides, like you pointed out, it wasn't added to the usual "Top lists" to help boost it.  Also, making a determination how a song is received after one day's release is a bit unfair.  There are plenty of songs which have started off poorly charting whether it's digital, streaming or Billboards and yet still manage to climb.  Besides, that's how it used to be in past decades. Songs would debut low on Billboard charts and then sky rocket in the next few weeks. Not saying that will happen here, but I'm not determining if this song is a "hit" or a "bomb"  after one day's release. This idea that a song needs to debut strong the very first day, is just a recipe for the song to quickly disappear.  I prefer a song to saunter and stick around for awhile.

    I would swap:
    - La Isla Bonita for Who’s That Girl or DCFMA (Miami Mix)
    - Like a Prayer for Express Yourself
    - Burning Up for Material Girl/Dress You Up
    - Holiday for Borderline
    - Hung Up for Sorry
    - Human Nature for Secret
And I would bring back 4 Minutes, The Power of Goodbye, Take a Bow and Living for Love

Their other Orbit produced single 'Black Coffee' would've really suited Madonna at the time IMO and includes drum production that sounds very Beautiful Stranger/Amazing/I'm A Sinner, especially from 4.24 onwards
