somethingscomingover got a reaction from Voguerista in What Is Your Favorite "Ray Of Light" Performance by Madonna?
It's definitely a difficult song to perform live. I'd say Oprah and Live 8 were my favorites.

somethingscomingover got a reaction from Levon in What M song made you a FAN?
Hung Up was the first song I liked of hers and one of the first I remember hearing.
The song that made me the fan I am was a mix of Express Yourself and Bad Girl. Express Yourself was catchy and empowering. Bad Girl was beautiful and the music video was amazing. Both songs made me want to see more of her discography.

Yes! Exactly. I find myself saying that all the time when people talk about Madonna retiring.
I think that she's not all hype. Our forum would not exist if there were not a lot of people from so many different places who are fans of hers. The general public seems to dislike Madonna. At this point, I don't think there's anything any of us can do to change their minds.
And, they say that hype stuff about a lot of legendary artists. You're always going to have critics.

Since the beginning, I've never understood why so many people hate so much on Madonna and won't give her the legendary credit she deserves? Sure, you don't have to like her or her music, but, the "legend" status is in all of her long time fans, hits, and numbers.

You don't become the most successful female artist in the history of popular music by hype alone. Period.

I clearly don't think this at all as I'm a huge Madonna fan and always will be, but, I ask this as I had a big argument with a friend of mine who said Madonna was overrated.
She said, if Madonna is so great, why hasn't she had a million seller in the UK and why are her YouTube views so low and why can't she have a hit single anymore, then she mentioned Madonna's age, saying she should retire, then I said, it's interesting I never hear people saying Paul McCartney or Elton John need to retire. She said loads of other stuff but you get what I'm saying.
Why does Madonna get so much hate her way and why do people say she's all hype?

She definitely deserves it! She was so influential in the 80's. Even now, she will always be remembered for her lace, messy hair and boy toy belt. She's helped so many people find the strength to be themselves.

I love the idea, love the concept behind it. I really liked that Madame X represented so many things and liked the album as well, but I think with all the touring and the injury she suffered, the era just didn't go entirely as she had intended it to.
But, I still enjoyed it anyway and I'm looking forward to seeing what's next.

somethingscomingover got a reaction from Levon in A Madonna Theme Park: What would be the attractions?
I like the Confessions disco house idea. Maybe a 70's roller skating rink, too?
Some other ideas that just came to me are a Re-Invention Tour conveyor belt, a Vogue black and white video set, a Hard Candy-themed snack stand and a Who's That Girl themed roller-coaster centered around the animation of Nikki from the opening sequence.

somethingscomingover got a reaction from Blue Prince in Your Favourite Madonna Era
Oh, I love this question!
For me, it's a tie between Erotica/Bedtime Stories/Ray of Light. She was so powerful in the 90's. Each era was so different and so unique. All three albums were also amazing.
The Erotica era was a bit sad because of the crazy negativity she got from the public during that time, but I feel that her message of sex positivity was really timeless. There will always be people who are scared of talking about sex and being open about it and the Erotica era still poses important questions that can really help those who want to be sex positive actually become sex positive. She broke barriers and a lot of women in the industry wouldn't be able to talk about sex in an artistic way if M hadn't been the one to take the first bite. It was also a really fun era. She had a lot of iconic looks and she was so unapologetic. I just love it!
The Bedtime Stories era was a little bit strange as well, but it's still so special to me. She was still dealing with the negativity from the Erotica era, and she came back with a bang when people thought she never would! Take A Bow is still her longest running number 1 on the Billboard charts. I love her style from this era. She looked gorgeous! There are so many iconic things about the Bedtime Stories era. The music videos, the Letterman interview, her resilience.
The Ray of Light era was the first era that I really got into while I was on my journey through Madonna's discography. The birth of Lola brought such a glow to M. Motherhood brought out the best in her. She just felt so peaceful and calm. I love all the interviews from the Ray of Light era. It really was a great era for her, and again another successful one as well!

A boat ride in a "Rain" themed cave with rain in different spots and waterfalls all over.
I love this thread!!! Good ideas, Everyone! Adding: this is a multi million dollar idea!

somethingscomingover reacted to felipe929 in A Madonna Theme Park: What would be the attractions?
My boyfriend had this dream last night about him being on a Lady Gaga theme park, and we had a laugh thinking about what would be the rides on the park, like a Venus Rollercoaster or The Fame Monster Haunted House.
The Britney Spears In The Zone attraction on LA just opened and it's also filled with recreations of the most iconic videos.
So I started to wonder how a Madonna Themed Park would be like, with attractions and rides based on songs and albums.
Which rides would you create? I thought of a few, like a Ray Of Light coaster and a Confessions disco house....
Show me your creativity!
