Fair enough. I thought it pretty much universal that Style was pop perfection and Taylors best track. It was also sonically analysed to have the pace, melody and chord progressions that appeal to the human ear. There were think pieces on it at the time I wouldn't be able to find them now but here's a couple.

We've heard it a thounsand times. The incredible voice that lifts Like A Prayer to divine heights. But who is the singer?
Someone on TikTok found a clip where it's revealed that her name is Jean Johnson!

Can Taylor just stay home 🏡. She is just uninteresting musically.. I guess we can use her fans for a hit though

Yeah, the dress is cool and the strong use of the eye shadow during the BS era was one of those things I loved.

Wow guys, awesome! Apparently they managed to make it with normal timing this time
Xavier writes "Celebration tour dvd/stream" coming, so quite probably we're gonna have the concert with the usual backstage bonus. She changed the formula a little but she always included some backstage extras: the rehearsals from the Confessions tour, the tour travelling experience from Sticky and Sweet, the workshop camp from the MDNA tour and some backstage footages from Rebel Heart. So they were all a bit different but she always provided some extra footage. At the moment I'm really appreciating this is not gonna be the usual, boring black and white for once.
Of course, if we're gonna have a kinda documentary stuff and not the full show, I'm gonna burn the house

It's about time for her team to learn the importance of TIMING, it doesn't make sense commercially to wait 2 years to release this... or spent too much time and energy to over edit a concert.

Yeah the Paris show from the ReInvention tour, the Florence one from Who's That Girl and the Toronto night from the Girlie Show are my most wanted live files. But do we have Holiday from Paris? I only remember about Like a Prayer, wich is by the way the best version ever in terms of live arrangement and vocals of the song.
This tour for me is the last one where she had really everything wich made me love her and took me there till that point of the journey: GREAT SONGS, interesting and provocative visuals and ideas (from the video intro to the American Life scene, wich is among her peaks in terms of performing greet and message incisiveness), clean, expressive vocals for the majority of the songs, a good amount of live instruments sound, a real and coherent genres experimentation of the songs (if Deeper and Deeper is amazingly seductive and original, the rock version of Material Girl still makes me feel the song as nothing before and after, the whole building jumping at the chorus is so funny and powerful). I didn't and still don't like the album, I consider it the beginning of the "normalization", from then on she tried things and made some very good stuff but never really got experimental and deep diving into creating something unique as she did with Erotica, Ray of Light and partially with Music imo (Confessions was good but it was quoting something that was new in the past, it had that vintage vibe that worked perfectly but that I felt was not really talking about me). Nobody know me is among the highlight performances of her career, it's one of the tracks I show when people ask me about her. The further tours started to miss something and to repeat themes (Confessions still remains a kind of masterpiece of its own). Till the last one ... wich actually got me back in such a full form

Oh how real the object of this thread is! It definitely was one of her absolute classics, with a strong meaning, an interesting, theatrical and intense arrangement and an infectious melody, with its simple and direct lyrics, able to combine urgency, need, hope, strenght and rage and she chose to reduce it at the level of any Cherish or True Blue.
The main thing imo is that she doesn't feel to sing it because of the adolescent or very young character of the song, she actually always cut off the lyrics that could make her feel out of place: in MDNA she just sang the first two verses with the bridge and the first half of the chorus, never revealing the pregnancy matter (and it actually could be refering to what happened on the stage right before the song, her rebellion to the "good wife" duties and manners once betrayed and abandoned), in Madame X she quoted the pregnancy to change the meaning of the song in support of the movement against the anti-abortion laws approved in some US States at that moment.
She always used it as a very political song against the constituted power, in WTG she sang it with images of the Pope and Ronald Regan at her back, while beating her feet on the ground (still iconic ), in BA it was the moment when she eventually rejected the priests control on her, leaving them contracting alone in their own moral cages. The ReInvention tour was a more nostalgic kind of performance, she quoted the infamous t-shirt (Italinas do it better) and made the Ring around the Rosie kind of thing, recalling the young age of the character. I think we still should have a PROPER AND WELL DESERVED ACOUSTIC LIVE RENDITION. I honestly hoped for it in the Celebration tour, but at last - yes, I agree - the PDP intro is among the most iconic moments of the whole show, with the NRM opening number, the LTT/LAP AIDS tribute and the JML contemporary ballet coreo.
