At this point Madonna is not really posting pics of her naked body for feel good likes and yass Queen comments. They’re purely political about women’s agency over their bodies and when people like Piers Morgan pipe up to drag her down they are only reaffirming the need for her to post these photos. Are we only supposed to love ripped and toned bodies between 18 and 40  on social media.
The world is soo odd. How can you get offended by the ageing process.
These pictures she posts... whether deemed ugly or beautiful are the truth. We age, life is ugly and beautiful.
Shes so powerful for this. What a legend.
The duality is the conflicting feeling about how her body is naturally ageing and the work she has had done to hold back the ageing process. That’s where the conflict kicks in. Her body her choice. Always.
I didn’t recognise it was her in the face until I saw “Madonna” in the twitter feed.
I know her so well and even I didn’t recognise her face. That felt odd.

    a little late :P
I love the Dick Tracy more than Evita, He's a man, Hanky Panky, Sooner or Later, Cry Baby, Now I'm Following You, Vogue...
that album is underrated and has great pop, jazz songs that i liked a lot, maybe Vogue don't fit with the album's style and would have been better just as a single or in Erotica!, but, anyway, the song is there, Vogue is a hit, and makes the I'm Breathless album better!

The Girlie Show was amazing. Back then there was no YouTube or internet so you really didn't know what to expect, perhaps we had seen 1 or 2 photos in magazines and a few hints of the set list, but you really had no idea. At that time the WTG Italy concert had been on TV, which was revolutionary and In Bed With Madonna had shown in the cinema so we had seen the magnificence of Blond Ambition. When Madonna announced she was touring Australia with the Erotica I was beyond excited. I must admit at the time I was a bit disappointed in the Erotica Album, as apart from Fever and Deeper and Deeper there weren't a lot of dance songs, and I was too young to really understand the Sex book, though it was controversial, but at that stage even I had thought Madonna had 'gone to far', now I see it was challenging my mind and opening me up to new ideas and experiences, which was exactly what she wanted.
Anyway, I went with my best friend at the time and we managed to get tickets on the ground in the massive stadium the first night in my town, I recall we had to coordinate who would call to buy the tickets, we both could not do it in the event we both got tickets (no mobile back then). The concert was AMAZING, when Madonna came on, I burst into tears, it was SO exciting to see her. There was so much movement on stage, dancers etc, it was hard to know where to look. I must say at the time, I was a bit disappointed that she didn't sing Like A Prayer, as it was and still is my favourite song, but I loved the concert. One night was not enough, I ended up seeing Girlie Show 3 times, but from far away seats, as I was a student and the tickets where prohibitively expensive for me back then. We were also lucky to see the sound check one day, when we managed to sneak halfway into the stadium, where we saw Madonna and her dancers rehearse Deeper and Deeper. I was all so exciting, we waited at the hotel, stage door, everywhere to catch a glimpse of anything, we also saw the blue clown costumes being carried into the stadium one day. So exciting!
Unfortunately I didn't get to see her again until Confessions, and that is another exciting story for another topic.

I love how upset people are about this nude selfie  And I love she's still doing this. She's 61 and still breaking boundaries and doing what she's always been preaching. And she was almost half her current age when she said this!!! Incredible.

I wanna start off by acknowledging that evolution and change is part of the human psyche, we all change in this world. The question for me is changing towards which direction? MadameX I believe is the best direction Madonna could follow. A truly great, greatly under estimated album, career and personal choice for Madonna.
She's more awake, more driven, more outspoken, calm, honest, fearless and maybe content (?!) than she ever was. On a personal level , through ups and downs, Madonna built a loving family, an insane career and money and she evolved as a human- not only her approach and art got more multi layered but she has achieved the power in this world to drive people - a leader from many aspects.
MadameX is the manifestation of real thoughts, human thoughts unfiltered and raw. (If Ray of Light was a stage where she started growing as a person, questioning things, finding a path to follow  MadameX is running down that road with a clear destination)
Lyrically ? I LOVE it ! All of it. Let me add some personal highlights here
    - I went back to my 17th year, allowed myself to be naive, to be someone I've never been.
    - Cause your world's such a shame, cause your world's in so much pain. They are so naive They think we are not aware of their crimes. We know, but we are just not ready to act
The storm isn't in the air, it's inside of us
    - Everybody knows they don’t have a chance to get a decent job, to have a normal life. When they talk reforms, it makes me laugh, they pretend to help, it makes me laugh
    - Not everyone is coming to the future, not everyone is learning from the past
    - Get that old man, put him in a jail where he can't stop us, where he can't hurt us
    - And I'll be a woman, if she's raped and her heart is breaking. Wild is the world and lonely is the path.
    - I'm tired of being far away from home, far from what can help, far from where it's safe
    - Front line, I won't stand in the back, 'cause you want me to
    - I guess I'm lost I had to pay the cost. The thing that hurt me most was that I wasn't lost (love this!)
-Freedom's what you choose to do with what's been done to you

    Musically? Love it!
It's an album I will listen to start to end, very unique songs for very specific emotions, sonically great and i love the pairing of the old and the new, a lot. She explored and created in a time where a LOT has been done in art. I do adore the abuse of autotune if its done properly, and in this album it is done very good.
    Visually? Stunning
    Music videos? All INSANE !
Tour? Not a world wide tour but an amazing tour and concept where you could feal a warmth you couldnt in arenas.
Despite the issues, the problems, the malfunctions, the pain Madonna fought her way through of it all to deliver her message, thoughts, fears to us - She admitted feeling so lonely at some time and she really seemed to be. And she found her way again.
What Madonna does and expresses in MadameX is something the world is not quite ready for yet and I'm truly hurt that despite trying to build a better world while we have the ability, for earth and for our species, we are so resilient to change and I think this is what Madonna has been doing her whole life and I admire - embracing change.

One of the best pop albums ever made. It has aged like fine wine - no matter when I've listened to it over the years, it seems to get better each time I hear it. I think this music is very therapeutic, both for Madonna recording/making it and the listener consuming it. The lyrics are also some of her best; she really tells a story and conveys so much emotion in these songs. Especially Little Star - such an endearing song, straight from her heart to Lola. I actually listened this this album a lot while in quarantine; it's such a great album to put on in the evening right before sunset and watch the sun go down.

Ray of Light is one of her most important albums ever in her carrer, M took a great evolutionary leap with Ray of Light, with totally autobiographical lyrics, it would have been very different without it, i think that Erotica & Bedtime Stories are like the last chapter of the madonna that everyone knew until then, and 4 years later, without doing tours and with Ray of Light, something new begins

What would Madonna's career have been like without "Ray Of Light"? One thing about her music is that most of it is timeless. To this day, I love "Ray Of Light" as much as the first time I heard it. Same with the video. This song fills me up with the light of the sky in an electric way. What was your first time hearing "Ray Of Light" like? What do you remember? Is this song and video still relevant and will it always be? To Ray Of Light..."a little piece of heaven".
On This Day In Billboard Dance History: Madonna Shined a 'Ray of Light' on Clubland
Incredibly, 50 Madonna songs have reached No. 1 on Billboard's Dance Club Songs chart, giving her the distinction of the artist with the most No. 1s on this survey. But only one of these tracks started in the folk world before entering the club scene.
No. 1 on the chart 22 years ago today (July 1), "Ray of Light" was an adaptation of the 1971 song "Sepheryn" by English folk duo Curtiss Maldoon. The song entered Madonna's field of awareness more than two decades later, when English musician and producer William Orbit sent her a version of the song -- renamed "Ray Of Light" and performed by the niece of one of the members of Curtiss Maldoon -- to consider for inclusion on her upcoming album.
Madonna liked it, and together with Orbit, she revamped the lyrics, updated the instrumentation and sped the BPM way up. By the time the song was released as the title track from Madonna's 1998 LP, the minor folk hit had been transformed into a synth-laden electronica anthem that would become both one of the biggest hits of Madonna's career and reflect who the pop queen had become by the late 90s. The reworked lyrics of the second chorus explored themes related to motherhood and spirituality, as her daughter Lourdes had been born two years prior, and Madonna had begun her exploration of Eastern mysticism and Kabbalah during this same period.
"This album is reflective of where I am in my life right now--in terms of my musical interests and in terms of my personal beliefs," Madonna told Billboard in 1998. "I feel like I've been enlightened, and that it's my personal responsibility to share what I've learned so far with the world."
Effectively, she completed this sharing by making people dance. While her previous LP, 1994's Bedtime Stories, had included slowed-down R&B tracks like "Take a Bow" and "Secret," "Ray of Light" spread its message of love and positivity via its embrace and expansion of the late '90s electronica genre, at that point being explored by scene stars like Moby, Björk, Underworld and more.
"I've been a fan of all kinds of electronic music for many years," Madonna said in the same Billboard interview, "and I wanted to incorporate that sound into my music."
Indeed, while many of Madonna's biggest hits -- "Vogue," "Like a Prayer," "Like a Virgin" -- certainly worked in nightclubs, the song's styles and structures firmly embedded them in the pop world. But with "Ray Of Light," Madonna was not simply making pop music that would work in the clubland, but music aesthetically connected to the roots of the genre, taking particular influence from the acid house that was a staple of the '90s underground rave scene.
Altogether, it got bodies moving around the globe. “Ray Of Light” spent four weeks at No. 1 on Dance Club Songs chart, from the charts dated June 20, 1998, through July 11. This run makes the song one of her longest leaders – “Holiday/Lucky Star” spent five weeks at No. 1 in 1983, “Music” later spent five weeks in this position in 2000, “Like a Virgin” spent four weeks in 1984-85 and “Hung Up” spent four weeks in the top spot in 2005.
"Ray of Light" was the second of three No. 1 Dance Club Songs singles from the Ray of Light album, after “Frozen” (2 weeks, April-May ’98) and before “Nothing Really Matters” (2 weeks, March ’99). Her 20th No. 1 on the chart, the song's lauded video was directed by Jonas Åkerlund, who had directed the infamous clip for The Prodigy's "Smack My Bitch Up." Meanwhile, the song won the 1999 Grammy for best dance recording, while the album won that year's best pop album trophy. Those two awards, along with the other one she won that evening, were the first audio Grammy awards of her career.
The 1999 Grammys ceremony was a long way from the underground club scene, and in fact even further away from the English folk world. Yet all of these musical stepping stones had helped Madonna create a song that remains one of the brightest lights of her enduring career.
