In one way I think exactly the same... But sometimes I see it a little reductive...
I was talking the other day with my sisters and some of their friends and they start talking about Madonna and all of them thought more or less this: "I think Madonna is a myth but I miss the time when she was controversial for doing what she wanted to do. Now she looks more like "I do this not because I like it, I do it because it dislikes a lot of people".
I think this is the biggest problem she have these days with the general public. They don't see her ass pictures or her grills or... as part of her artistic (and controversial) work. Yeah, there are lots of people that gets crazy in a bad way when she do this but there are millions of people too that think "Is the same ass picture over and over again??? She doesn't have interesting ideas anymore."

not to mention that a script for a series is totally different than the script for a movie, a series is not just a movie cut into smaller pieces.

I worry about the script and the storyline, hope she doesn't portray herself as a one-dimensional hero... the fans would LOVE that though

Yeah, I have no idea what singing has to do with this particular role, they will most likely use Madonna's original vocals anyway... and for some improv singing scenes (like scenes with rehearsals, studio singing etc) Madonna can do her own vocals...

I love Live to Tell the song, but not sure about it as a title. Live to Tell seems to me to indicate a movie about overcoming an almost death experience such as cancer or drug addiction, which doesn’t apply to Madonna. Live to Tell to me would indicate a 100% serious movie, whereas I think her life story would mix funny and serious aspects. They didn’t mention it but I like the title Rebel Heart, which shows both sides of her personality.

I am surprised how poorly I rated a lot of the songs, not too many highlights for me outside the biggest hits.... but still, overall, I would rate the album with a high grade...

I think overall the promotion with Ray of Light was a masterpiece by Warners, Liz Rosenberg and Madonna herself  but the quality of the music backed it up. I agree they could have done things better with the promo timing for the singles that followed Frozen to get them to number 1 as the tracks with great videos and remixes to go with them were easily strong enough - they could have even released more singles from the album but suppose were already moving onto the next era with soundtracks for Austin Powers and Next Best Thing in the run up to Music

That might be true in relation to movies and her personal life but for the most part her music has gotten very positive reviews. Even the albums that people on here complain about such as Hard Candy, MDNA, Rebel Heart and Madame X got mostly positive reviews from reputable music critics. Most of the negative things about her personal life have been written by tabloid reporters, they to me don’t qualify as critics.

Warner were amazing with promo in Europe, because they had local teams in each country who would make sure the release was treated as a media mega event. Warner Germany would handle the entire promo in Germany, Warner Italy was in charge of Italy and so on, they had all the connections and knew what was the best promo channel at any given time. With Warner, every Madonna album was treated as the event of the year. Interscope had none of that knowledge to act locally.

Thats precisely what worries me about this biopic, Madonna is going to have control over everything and its very rare to find a person who can view their lives without being jaded. Whoever she finds is going to be creatively stifled and micromanaged which will ruin a shot at making a character her own. Did you see how utterly insufferable Madonna is to work with based on that livestream with her co-writer on the script. From what I have seen, the script appears to be a bunch of drivel about her being a survivor beat down by the evil world for disturbing the peace. Madame X is alive and well it appears.

Frozen hit #2 and the album peaked at #2 as well, they were both a massive success... either way, Warner handled Europe like a pro

They were super successful with European promo well before American Life came out. Warner had a HUGE, out of this world campaign for Ray of Light in Europe, and even before Madonna came somewhere to do the promo, she was kept in the media for weeks ahead of the event. She did the highest rated talk shows and media events (like Sanremo in Italy). Then they followed that same pattern for Music, American Life and Confessions.
Each local Warner label had a bunch of their own local artist that they were promoting and had media connections all over. Then for the Madonna album they would pick the best of the best and literally make everything about her. Of course, everyone wanted to have her on their show, but each local Warner team knew just what to do and how to promote the album from the moment it was announced, all the way to the last single. The key to their success was that each local Warner label promoted Madonna as their own biggest project.

it probably would have caused a whole butterfly effect that would take Madonna's life and career in a different direction. Certainly different collaborators, probably no writing camp, a different approach to touring and all the merchandise.
Promo would have been significantly different and I think in the long run it would have been a safer and steadier approach for Madonna's legacy.

It's not Gone With The Wind but I agree that this film could potentially be very important for Madonna's legacy. This will be the first and most likely the defining major motion picture about Madonna's life. It's her autobiography in visual form - it is a big deal, for better or for worse.
I imagine that many years from now, if casual fans want to dig deeper into Madonna's journey, they might check her biopic out for further reference. Hell, even today, many youngins probably have no idea why Madonna is the Queen Of Pop. Sure, they have heard of "Material Girl" on Stranger Things but they don't know about her contributions to pop culture and society. If done properly, this film could very well introduce a new generation to her music and legend. So I do think it is critical that they get this project right or else it would be a huge disservice to her legacy. For starters, a committed and experienced actress is absolutely needed for the role.

there have been movies about Elvis, Marilyn, John Lennon and they didn't become important movies... If anything, biography movies are a slippery slope. It's more likely than not that the biopics don't live up to the expectation because they don't match the legendary status of the main character.

I think you are overestimating the whole thing... this is not the casting for Gone With the Wind in 1938.
