I buy them all. DVD, Blu-ray and 4K. Way too many DVDs will never be upgraded. I'd be limiting my entertainment so much by only buying HD.

    No.
Most of the 20th century concerts released on Blu-ray were theatrical presentations originally. If it wasn't released in cinemas, then it's probably not that well known and not worth remastering in the eyes of the studio. Since none of Madonna's concerts was ever released in cinemas, I seriously doubt they will ever come to Blu-ray. The only exceptions to this that I've found are really popular artists like The Rolling Stones, whose non-theatrical concerts benefited by being shot on film. Most of Madonna's old shows were shot on video, so no HD. I've read that the Virgin Tour was shot on film, but too few people are gonna care about that one. It was fine, but one of her weaker tours. Mainly the hardcore would buy it, which isn't enough for the studio. We also don't know if the original materials are even still accessible and complete. Some people claim the whole Blonde Ambition show is still on film somewhere, but if it was ever going to be used, it would have happened already. It's very rare for shows to be released for the first time so long after they were filmed. Queen Rock Montreal for example, which the band member(s) produced partly because they weren't relevant anymore. I also am aware that Confessions was shot in HD, but again, not released in cinemas and not rock music, so it probably won't happen.

There's one thing you can say about DVD. It had a much catchier name than Blu-ray Disc and (lol) 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray. So I can't even blame the people for naming the later formats incorrectly, I blame the Blu-ray Association for not coming up with a better name.

The Farmer Blu-ray was fine to me because I knew the situation. They wouldn't have been able to fit the uncompressed 5.1 (which I found very good, actually) and the PCM stereo on a DVD and still have a decent video bitrate. The bitrate obviously would have been much smaller anyway, to the point of the low res detail that is there being rendered even worse.
Again, I don't like AI upscaling. It ALWAYS makes live footage look worse, in my opinion, including the fake grain above. I see that you also elevated the colors, but that can be done with one's display.

The main issue I have with it is that I'm not seeing more detail. I am always seeing less. Look at that round object in the background. In the AI interpretation, the outline is more faded and the text is even less legible. There is also another, fainter object above that, one third of the way down the left of the top picture, that is essentially gone in the AI version. Parts of the microphones or whatever they are have disappeared as well. The program also couldn't make sense of her eyes. They look stranger. Actually, her whole face looks overly sharpened.

Before someone says it again, no, I am not being mean. He expressed his opinion about this "crappy" Blu-ray and what should be done with SD footage and I gave my honest answer.

They look almost digitally painted. You can't turn grain or pixels into calculations of what should be there and still have it appear organic.

I've never cared much about instruments of songs.
At least Janet isn't making her videos look WORSE with AI upscaling.

I'm listening to Abbey Road in 5.1 for the second time. Not upmixed with Dolby, as I was talking about earlier, but the surround mix from 2019. Must admit, it's pretty cool. Now I want Madonna albums in 5.1 too. Only drawback is that I'm not in front of my TV and between my speakers that much when I'm not watching something.

Dolby already does a pretty decent job matrixing to surround. I've tested her CDs very little, but the vocals stay at the front and some of the instruments and chorus even go separately to the surrounds.

I mean, Pioneer went out of business decades ago. I can't imagine them turning down a hefty check from Warner to score the rights or even come to a profit sharing deal. Plus I believe Madonna owns the Truth or Dare Paris footage but that's still unknown if the entire show was filmed or just selections.

It just baffles me that one of the most famous tours of all time remain unreleased on DVD/BD.

Because the fake upscaling would be even more obvious in 4K. I'm not getting my hopes up for real HD remasters yet.

But to answer the how, you have to set your computer to stereo and then decode in Dolby Surround or Dolby ProLogic with your receiver. I just started listening to Ray of Light in surround as I type this, because of the discussion above. So far, I like what I'm hearing. I think I still prefer plain stereo, though.
