@Blue SkiesYeah, the MTV Awards really has lost its appeal, but so has MTV since they've gone to reality Television. Even if she did put on an epic performance these days, very few people would be tuned in for it.  Then again, a lot of those performances that make any noise would go viral on the internet, so tuning in live is pretty useless these days.  I've not cared much about the awards show since the 2000's. 

I still remember that night well!   I had just started high school.  Ben Stiller was the host and there was an interview she did prior with Kurt Loder on the pre show.  There was this funny ad for the VMA's where Ben thinks he gets a date with Madonna but winds up babysitting Lourdes.  
 
I think she was one of the first performers that evening and the last time she was the main star of the VMA's.  Unless you count that 2003 performance.  I had no idea Beyonce overtook her in moon mans from the VMA's.  It's been about 20 years since I cared about  this show .

@Brendanlovesu1The Beatles, Richard Lester and David Bowie all won the award the first year it was issued in 1984.  Neither I or anyone claimed it was "his award" from the get go.  MTV decided to name it after him because they considered him a groundbreaking video artist by 1991.  Once again, rightfully so.  It had nothing to do with MJ being insecure. It was MTV's choice, not his. Even more, he had no reason to feel insecure at that time in his career.  He was on top of the world at that time and his videos were huge success at the time.

He DID change videos whatever people thought or think of him. I think he deserves that.    However if they had a Touring Vanguard Award of course it would be M. She changed the game for everyone.

When I see this image of her, I think of Jessica Rabbit.  She looks beautiful nevertheless. 

I'm flabbergasted.  One could think the tour being paused may have put a wrench in some plans, but I don't see why the debut album still couldn't be celebrated with some big re-issue. I can only hope something is still coming, but I'm not holding my breath.  Chances are they may not even being working on the re-issues yet.  I hope that I'm wrong, but after defending the new Warner deal for so long and we've gotten past the first album's anniversary and further away, the more I doubt anything is coming.

I'm going to say Come On and Walk Outside aren't actual songs/demos.  It might be an interlude of her talking in between tracks as she did on some of these live and demo tracks.

I, too, saw it when it was first released.  It wasn't necessary a "packed" theater when I went, but it was far from empty either.  I do recall a lot of people acting grossed out when the two detectives at the end started to make out.  LOL!

Yeah, I'd love to hear something new or unheard of at this point.  Fans are starving and being the beginning of the tour has been postponed, just makes us hungry for more.

I saw it at the cinema. The house was packed. Literally everybody was into Madonna back then.

Yeah, I was 8 and it was the first time I said to myself: "Ok if you wanna do this, fine, but keep in mind that it's not gonna be all masterpieces here"
