In a new interview, Debi Mazar talks about her friendship with M

How Debi Mazar Stays 'Very Close' With Madonna After Years Of Fame And Friendship

The world has known Madonna as the Queen of Pop for decades, but few have the intimate understanding of the music icon that Debi Mazar does. The actress gave us a taste of what it's like to be best friends with one of the most famous people on the planet during a Wednesday interview with HuffPost Live.

"We are old best friends in the sense that we've been very close for a very, very long time -- like 30 years, before she even cut a record," Mazar said. "I met her when she came to New York and we became dear friends, and then she was like, 'I'm gonna do a video,' and I was like, 'I do makeup. I'll do your makeup. Cool!' And it was very much like that, and then she became a huge star."

Mazar went on to appear in several of Madonna's iconic music videos, including "Papa Don't Preach," "True Blue," "Deeper and Deeper" and "Music."

Dating back to their days on New York's Lower East Side, Mazar has always known Madonna to be committed to health and personal fitness, she said.

"She's a professional dancer, you have to remember. So she's always danced. As long as I've known her, she's always had the bar and the mirror, stretching, doing her thing," Mazar said. "[she] always led a very clean life. Never smoked. You see these pictures of her posing [with cigarettes] -- that's just, you know, she likes to take a picture. But she's very [into] clean living."

Since Madonna's meteoric rise to fame, it's gotten harder and harder to find time for moments like the one in this photo Mazar recently posted on Instagram, from a birthday party that she and Madonna attended along with Sandra Bernhard and model Tony Ward:

"What's unfortunate is that she's so, so busy," Mazar told host Marc Lamont Hill. "Even though she's got the whole setup with the nannies and the driver and the cook, she has very little time to have a social life because she's a workaholic. So we email. We email, and we manage to get our children together, but we often don't have a chance to get together."

Mazar was happy to report that she and Madonna have set a date to squeeze in some time together in April, in between promotion for Madonna's new album "Rebel Heart" and the start of her world tour later this year.

The singer's press for "Rebel Heart" hasn't been without adversity. Mazar cited the reaction to Madonna's nasty fall at the Brit Awards and the BBC's decision to ban her single "Living for Love" as examples of an ageist society. That's something Mazar knows a little bit about, as her new TV Land comedy "Younger" explores the issue of aging.

"It is ageism, and that's what my TV show is about, really, and I just think this is a conversation [we need to have]. It's a big discussion," Mazar said.

During his visit with Fallon, Horovitz not only previewed a clip of him co-starring alongside Ben Stiller in the new movie, but also touched on the Beastie Boys opening for Madonna in 1985.

"We played the first couple shows and they hated us," Horovitz recalled of The Virgin Tour, adding that Madonna fought to keep the Beastie Boys on the bill. "She realized that [the audience] hated us so much, that by the time she got on stage, it was the greatest thing ever."

http://www.justjared.com/2015/04/01/diplo-opens-up-to-interview-mag-about-amazing-chemistry-with-madonna-exclusive/

On working with Madonna: â€œThe chemistry was just, like, awesome. Right from the beginning, she was like, ‘Let’s do whatever you want to do.’ I had kind of a vision of how she can sound in 2015 and not be forced. And she went for it. I’m proud of the songs.â€

Sean Penn has affection for Madonna

http://www.tribute.ca/news/index.php/sean-penn-has-affection-for-madonna/2015/04/06/

The 54-year-old star had an extremely turbulent relationship with the “Like A Virgin†hitmaker when they were married from 1985 to 1989, frequently lashing out at paparazzi and even being arrested for assaulting his then-wife, but insists their issue that were public were just â€trivial.â€

He said: â€You look back and you say, ‘What fire did I walk through that I sought out?’ This is a fantastic woman, who I have great affection for – Madonna. She had not even toured when we got together. So there was no seeing all that coming. She was a fire, you know? In herself. Apart from all that stuff that came with it. But in a marriage? At that time in my life? And, you know, you walk through the fires you have to walk through. And I guess she probably would have described me similarly. The fires that were public were all trivial.â€

Jamie Foxx: Madonna loves my little girl

Madonna thinks Jamie Foxx’s daughter has “good taste†after the youngster praised her Grammys performance.

In February, Annalise was Jamie’s special guest to the annual music ceremony in Los Angeles, where she mingled with A-list stars including Katy Perry, Taylor Swift and Jay Z.

But it was pop legend Madonna the little girl was most excited about seeing face to face.

“What’s crazy about this is, is that she wanted to meet Madonna more than anybody that night. Because she saw the performance and she said, ‘Dad, I gotta meet Madonna because I love her performance,’ and I said, ‘She’s right up there,'†Jamie recalled to Jimmy Kimmel. “So she goes up to Madonna and says, ‘I think your performance was the best,’ and she [Madonna] says, ‘Why do you like it?’ ‘Because you guys had the horns, so I think you were the best.’ And you know what Madonna said? ‘Good taste.'â€

The 56-year-old singer performed her track Living For Love, with scantily clad male backing dancers wearing sparkling silver masks and black horns on their heads.

Annalise has a photo gallery to treasure forever following that evening, and in each snap she pulled the same pose, where her arms are crossed and fingers pointed out.

“She’s six… My daughter trademarked it, that’s her thing. She’s been doing it since she was like two and a half, three. She just came out the womb like, ‘I’m here!'†he screeched, pulling the pose.

Jamie also touched upon his career as a musician and actor. He always dreamt of getting into music, but “just fell into the movies and just fell into winning an Oscar†he joked, referring to his best actor Academy Award for Ray.

Zaha Hadid talks personal style: Part TwoThe Pritzker Prize-winning architect rounds up her list of likes with Madonna, Russian tchotchkes and New York’s Upper East Side

"My style icon is Madonna. She has always experimented with fashion: I attended the Met Gala two years ago when the theme was punk and, while many missed the mark, Madonna really got it. She popularised Jean Paul Gaultier’s bustiers and has never been afraid to try creative new things. The same can be said of Grace Jones – she is always pushing boundaries."

In an interview with the Herald Sun, Kylie Minogue discussed her views on ageism…

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/entertainment/music/kylie-minogue-reveals-how-michael-hutchence-became-her-archangel/story-fni0bvjn-1227258502776

"There’s common ground for myself and Madonna there.

I don’t even take notice of how old my friends are. It’s a sign of the times today that age isn’t that relevant. Certainly not to me or my generation. Therefore it’s kind of hard to explain.

Having said that I’ll be the first one to joke ‘Oh come on, I’m not in my undies again am I?’ I did a lingerie shoot the other day, it’s kind of astounding, but it’s happening and I’m not forcing it. I’m just going with the flow.

I don’t think people want to see Madonna in an old Greek lady’s house dress on the stoop do they? They want glamour, they want fantasy. Maybe it doesn’t make sense in every day life, whatever normal is, I don’t even know any more. But it’s definitely something I struggle to even talk about. You just want to get past it, basically. For me it’s just about taste. There’s a certain way to do things. I hope I get it right more often than I get it wrong."
