13. Hard Candy

I was really exited for this record when it was just about to come out. I picked up a copy of the album the first day that it was out and listened to it the instant that I got home. I was really pumped as I had fallen in love with "4 Minutes" and couldn't wait to hear what else the album had to offer. Overall, I was pretty disappointed. There are only three songs on the album that I like and they are "4 Minutes", "She's Not Me", and "Candy Shop". As whole, the record seemed very bland and I-have-heard-this-before type album. It seemed too like all the other pop records out at the time. I don't even think Britney would accept some of the tracks on this album.

12. Bedtime Stories

I try so hard to love this record but I just can't. I don't know why but it just bores me and I dread really any song from this album besides "Human Nature". The tittle track is my least favorite on the album just because it's just so odd and un-Madonna. I know a lot of people love this record, and I really do try to love it but I just don't. This was the second of the four "Madonna Experimentation Albums" (Erotica, Bedtime Stories, Ray of Light and Music) and it just really fell short in this album. It doesn't feel like a Madonna album to me.

11. Madonna

This is album is fun, I won't deny that. But it's a first album. And stacked up against her later work, this album just feels so under polished and like it was just not really loved and cared for. I know that it was a lot on the recording studio for the lack of faith in the album, but I still feel like, even for the people that did really care about it, like Madonna, it wasn't fought for to be better.

10. Erotica

This album is a middle layer for me. It is so mixed in it's quality that it's almost like a surprise when you get a good song and a surprise when you get a bad one. This album is undeniably a concept record and and I fee it is interesting to see Madonna's vision of that. My favorite track on the album is "Bye Bye Baby". When this album is brilliant, it's really brilliant. But, when it's iffy, it's really iffy. There isn't much to say on the record other than it's just a little overwhelming and underwhelming all at once.

9. Like a Virgin

You may love this album. But there is one thing that you cannot deny. IT HAS NEVER BEEN AS GOOD AS IT WAS THE FIRST TIME THAT YOU HEARD IT. When I first heard the album, it easily was my number one Madonna record. But the more I listen, the more and more the novelty wears off. Once you get past "Like a Virgin", "Material Girl", and "Dress You Up", you have an iffy pop record. I still love it, no doubt, but the tracks are so bland in some places and her voice and style had yet to be fully landed.

8. MDNA

I don't hate this record as much as everyone else does. I actually like the songs and I think that Madonna was intentionally trying to make them sound modern pop to show that she can make shit music enjoyable and that she was trying to poke fun at the modern pop divas. However, I do agree that it became a little old by the time the record was over. My favorite album track on this one is shockingly "Gang Bang" because I think Madonna is so sexy sounding. And I'll be honest. I'm GAY but I would GO STRAIGHT FOR MADONNA and it's mainly because of how sexy she sounds on this whole album and "Confessions". The album I feel is finely crafted and is no where near as bad as some people say it is. But I do agree, there was a lot of room for improvement.

7. Music

I have said it before and I'll say it again. I don't like Madonna singing country. This album was the last of the "Madonna Experimentation Albums" (Erotica, Bedtime Stories, Ray of Light, Music) and it is the most diverse of the four. The record starts very pop with "Music" but "Don't Tell Me" cowboy territory territory just really bothers me more than it probably should. Had Music and American Life been flip flopped, I think both albums would look MUCH better because, I have always felt American Life was musically a prequel to Music. Where American Life ended I feel Music began and had they been flip flopped, I think it would have done both more due justice.

6. Rebel Heart

I was nervous going into this record. Hard Candy and MDNA had beed questionable so I just felt uneasy going into it. But, this album is really good and entertaining. "Ghosttown" is just...words cannot express how much this song is just so Madonna and the best song that she has released since the last Confessions single. I love record and was shocked at to how good it was. That's not to say it doesn't have faults. Bitch I'm Madonna...is out there.

5. True Blue

You may assume that since I put this one at number five that I don't like it. That isn't true. Just compared to the next four records on this list, it just can't really match up. This album is classic Madonna and is the first album that I feel Madonna finally found her footing and got to take complete control of the record. My favorite track on the album is "Live to Tell", but I really do love the whole record. The album is very well put together and exceptionally produced. The only flaw in the album is that all of the tracks are so very different and so great that there isn't one track that really gets to stand out as the albums true jewel.

4. American Life

This album is amazing and I don't understand why people hated on it so much. The album was Madonna's second concept record (in my opinion) and it worked so much better than the previous. The album is a stunning view at the post-9/11 world that it was a product of. The albums stand out is "American Life" because it is so accurate when it comes to looking at the american world. The album is very well produced and the amount of work that was obviously but into it really makes it sound crisp and amazing. The only problem with the record is it's short length. It is just a little less than 45 minutes long, and I feel that the album should have been longer for the full punch of the subject matter.

3. Ray of Light

The third of the "Madonna Experimentation Albums" (Erotica, Bedtime Stories, Ray of Light, and Music) is the best of the four. The albums crispness and ultra trance like sound just added so much to Madonna's catalogue. My favorite song on this album is "Ray of Light" just for the simple fact of it was Madonna's return to the throne of the Queen of Pop. The record had such a tight mixing that it all felt like one big story being told through her beautiful voice. The only problem I can find on the album is that it's slower songs seem to dominate over the faster songs, which isn't all bad but a little boring in certain sections.

2. Like a Prayer

Perhaps Madonna's most iconic record, this album offers so much to Madonna fans. The albums complete and utter stand out record is "Oh Father". The track just shoes so much of Madonna's vocal range and her song writing ability. The record has so much in it's runtime that it offered so much to Madonna's fans and her catalogue. There is nothing really wrong with the record besides it middle section being a little overly bombastic, but I can live with this and it doesn't hurt the quality.

1. Confessions on a Dance Floor

This album is perfection. The flow of the record, each song flowing into the next, is just perfection. The whole record is just complete and utter and perfection. The way the album was produced created the tightest sounding album in Madonna's discography. My favorite song on the album is "Future Lovers" and it is the stand out by very little because of how perfect every song on the record is. The album has Madonna's best vocals, the best written songs, the grandest musical arrangement and the best of the best of Madonna's power and her pale as the queen. The ONLY problem with the record is that it runs so tight and polished that it sounds mildly robotic at some points.

I would love to see what you think! Respond to the thread to let me know!

I agree with you in all the albums, i'll just add something: Confessions is the best album made by a popstar in HISTORY. It's not just Hung Up and all the success it had, the album's songs are all perfectly mixed, the production and musical direction is perfect, but there's something wrong, why did Madonna release that shitty video for Get Together?

No, I was not aware of that. Would you like me to delete this so you can do it and not make it seem repetitive? Im sorry I posted this if it hurt your countdown.

Oh no! What I meant was that we're doing a voting-based one in another thread, but a personal opinion one is always great (I agree with you on MDNA, btw)

I agree. Hung Up is a fun, simple and catchy song but I actually think it's overshadowed by nearly every other song on the album. It's saying something when a strong song in its own right is not one of the strongest on the album, which is a testament to the rest of the album. The Get Together video is shitty, you're 100% right there, but I think the video for Jump may be even worse. It looks so cheap and as though it was a rush job to me- also for the record - I really hated that short blonde wig! LOL Those two songs deserved better videos IMO.
