I would say The First Album is better than Like a Virgin overall, no doubt for me.

But to say that "Think of Me" is better than "Dress You Up", "Like a Virgin" or "Material Girl"? That's unheard of. But to each of their own :) I personnally think that "Think of Me" is only better than "Pretender" and "Shoo-Bee-Doo". It's not a bad song, but clearly feels like filler in an otherwise really good album.

i'd add "stay" to that list

for some reason her second album sounds more dated than the first

    • During Nothing Really Matters, toward the end, the stage goes counterclockwise to symbolize going back in time.
    • She also sings "in your arms" 4x to represent 4 decades.
    • I thought the 4x "in your arms" were for her four children that are with her during the show - specially because of the phrase that comes just before: "you're a shelter from the storm, give me comfort..."
    • i wouldn't read that into the circling stage cause it goes counterclockwise during the whole song. also during "holiday" and "celebration". it moves clockwise during "vogue" and "like a prayer"
  3. this pre-recorded vocals debacle is really tiring. she's been using them her whole career. and sometimes the choices seem really random: for example ggw on the mdna tour sounded completely lipped during the concerts (watch any bootleg) but then on the dvd it sounds like she's really singing, body shop on the rebel heart tour also sounds lipped during the concerts but then on the japanese audio bootleg (from the ear in monitor) you can hear she's really singing everything.

Maybe they still need to build some kind of system to hold it to the roof structure, it's gonna be weird to watch LTT and ROL without it...

i think the side screens will replace the moving ones. in the actual stage i also don't see the huge light structure that is over the piano during "bad girl"

sorry to rain on your parade, but... since (as far as we know) its just a one-night-only concert in this format (open air/stadium), it would be too costly to built a structure like the one holding the disco ball up in the Confessions stadium shows for just one concert.

I'm a stage designer so my best guess is that the stage will remain the same except from the side projection screens and the portal/flying rig - so everything in the main stage will be kept as is, the same goes for the runways, including the Bedtime Story cube.

    but... we shall see :Madonna021:

rain on MY parade? at what point did i say they were going to build the same structure this time?

So how they going to lift that frame thing in the air? Can it be done outdoors?

i'm pretty sure it can. the stage is an independent structure, nothing is attached to the ceilings of the arenas. when the s&s and mdna tours were presented in stadiums (outdoors) in brazil they had all the lifting structures.

Thank you Angelo, I checked, you're right. I remembered wrong, sorry @migsou. These are their coreos, according to their posts:

Nothing really matters (Asst Graham tech Jacquelyn Elder)
Papa don't preach (ref @vlpla ’s original choreo)
    Bad Girl
The beast within (asst Jacquelyn Elders and @isaiacheck)
    Don't cry for me Argentina
    I don't search I find (LAHORDE & @bobthedragqueen asst waacking tech @princesslockerooo )
Ray of light (asst Jacquelyn Elders and @isaiacheck)
    Rain / Frozen

So also the Rain/Frozen number is their work. Actually Cherkaoui said his coreo for Frozen was substituted by the Rain number and I thought she just changed the song, it's not the case apparently. I have to say that all these coreos, the Lahorde ones, are my least favourite ones tbh (and it's coherent they also worked on TBW, as I always felt that, especially the second part of the performance, when all the dancers are on the center platform was weak).

Jalet worked on Justify my love and Die another day, the BEST numbers of the show, in terms of theatricality imo, Cherkaoui on Holiday, Like a Prayer and Bedtime Story, all pretty good, Hung up and Don't tell me are reworks of the original coreos (probably Jamie King's work). I'm still curious about the Erotica/You thrill me coreographer.

I am certain that Jalet also worked on LFL and Live To Tell

I really wanna know who created this amazing coreo for the Erotica/You thrill me number, it's one of the best imo.

We already know that Cherkaoui did the Holiday, Like a Prayer, Bedtime Story and the Frozen/Rain moves and Jalet coreographed Justify my love, The beast within and Die another day. The other great coreos imo are Hung up and Don't tell me, wich are quite close to the original ones, but Erotica is so on point, effective and different: was it Jamie King? Help :cute:

Oh and there's this nice small M's episode here, confirming how cool M has always been of course, told by another wonderful woman I appreciate so much artistically (minute 13:03)

no... jalet did living for love, justify my love and die another day. the beast within and rol are definitely from la horde.

  9. i went with the third concept, keeping the length of a "regular" cd. some favorites of mine were left off:

    01 time stood still
    02 you must love me
    03 drowned world
    04 love spent (acoustic)
    05 frozen
    06 intervention
    07 nothing fails
    08 masterpiece
    09 ghosttown
10 to have and not to hold
    11 heartbreakcity
    12 falling free
    13 crazy
14 lo que siente la mujer
    15 miles away
    16 crave
    17 the power of goodbye

Hmmm that's not how I remember it at all. Most RH songs were close to the album version but songs like BU, TB, D&D, LAV, WTG, Music, CS, DYU, were all complete reinventions, I think True Blue on the ukelele is still one of my all time favorite live M moments. But I totally agree, give me new interpretations or reimaginings of remixes. The only thing I really would love to stay close to the album version is LAP, I hate almost every version since BA, bring back those synths and basslines!

we were talking about the video interludes.

I think the issue with the Rebel Heart Tour was that she seemed to have made many last minute changes to sections and song selections. Therefore, it wasn’t really possible to shoot concrete videos for the interludes because they were decided on at the last minute.

It's also one of the reason I thoroughly dislike the tour. Everything seemed randomly thrown together and not particularly well thought-out.

hmmm to that i'd add also the fact that all of the music (if i remember correctly) was just album versions cut short. one of the reasons i love madonna's concerts so much is that the songs never sound like the cd versions. this is why "rescue me" on the last tour was so amazing, i had shivers when i figured out where the lyrics came from!!! so yeah, fuck the general public and their love for the original versions of the songs. if you want those just listen to your fucking spotify.

I agree, unless it's a brand new video of an old song like JML from MDNA or Bedtime Story from RIT. I miss the days when the last song from each segment had an extended outro leading into the next section.

if it's well done (the video intros at the rebel heart tour were horrible) i'm fine with either. i prefer the gigantic intros like music 2006 or into the groove 2004 over the long outros like rain girlie show.
