MarXus reacted to Ian in What M song made you a FAN?
I always liked her (lucky star, burning up; loved both) but Into the Groove sent me wild haha

hmmm i really like these three in their own way HAHAHA for example, i really fell in love with spanish eyes from my first listen - it carries so much emotion, and the spanish vibe that this song has just makes it more impossible not to fall in love with.
sky fits heaven is such a powerful song, i really started liking even more after i watched drowned world tour (which is not my favorite madonna tour, gotta say this) but the sky fits heaven bit it is i think my favorite part of the whole show.
i really love the nobody knows me performance at the re invention tour, and it made me like the song even more!

MarXus reacted to Andymad in The Ultimate B-Side Poll!
OOOOOHHHHH! Omg that's right. So random. Also Crazy For You single using a shot from Justify My Love! VERY out of place. And we question her choices NOW! Her entire career has been filled with questionables lol

OK so I LOVE Has To Be... I chose Over And Over though... are they not in separate eras though? I thought over and over was on Like A Virgin....

MarXus reacted to Aiwa08 in The Ultimate B-Side Poll!
Come on! Everybody knows that Vogue is the best B-side from the 90...
80: Where's the party (Remix Edit). It's been 34 years and I still play this track like the first day.
90: Let Down Your Guard (Rough Mix Edit). "Bedtime Stories" is my less favorite era, but I love "Let Down Your Guard".
00: I love New York.
My most favorite B-Side is Where's The Party.

I remember when someone asked M to sing How High acapella at one of the S&S shows and she said something like 'What? Wasn't that like a C-side?"

MarXus reacted to madgefan in The B-side: Pretender
The first edition I had of the album was the Chilean cassette reissued sometime in the 90s. It didn't include Pretender but Into The Groove instead and it was called Dentro de la Rutina
I first listened to Pretender when I bought the 2001 remaster CD

I would even say that this is my favorite track from LAV, i would love if Madonna remembered of it's existence some day in the future...

MarXus reacted to Inco in The B-side: Pretender
I love this song actually I really appreciate the forgotten songs of LAV: Pretender, Stay (it should've been a single) and Over And Over. The original LDLHA is superb too. I'm gonna share my Pretender remixes collection in audio section.

MarXus reacted to Enrico in Breakfast club/Emmy
Especially for Hothouse Flower, we can hear the original treatment in the Shamrock reel, and then the Emmy version featured in the doc In artificial light, and then we have the live recording from the Emmy period.
But we need to fill the gaps and to have the acoustic tapes from 1979 would help to better understand the transition from BC to Emmy. I am desperately trying to find this material but it's locked in the hands of collectors..

Really ?! I believe you're not being fair with those versions ! I'm a fan and I was blown away by those renditions, and I guess that for the general public they were more than ok too ! All big to the show.

MarXus reacted to LikeAMelody in So.. people believe Madonna predicted coronavirus
Yeah, Guy influenced the style of the video for "What It Feels Like For A Girl." which might have opened up that avenue. The song alone just sounds sad which is how she normally approached anger. So this video is a turning point.
I do not count Die Another Day because of the film influence which is inescapable. Live to Tell has a pretty intense scene in it although she is not involved. Her anger in the 80's and 90's seemed to be expressed in a stubborn defiance or sadness. The only one that I can think of that is truly dominated by anger is "Thief of Hearts." "Express Yourself." for me stems from anger but she was able to turn that feeling into true empowerment and something wonderful which is why I love that song with all my heart. It's one of the reasons I love Madonna.
In "Give It 2 Me" her defiance seems combative and "Revolver" she is fighting. MDNA has more than one really angry song but the last songs on the album are more in tune to her way of dealing with anger earlier on. In Love Spent she expresses her pain ever so bitterly but with overall sadness and Masterpiece and Falling Free feel very sad to me.
I think she tried to recapture her talent for turning her anger into something positive with Living For Love and Iconic just to name two off of Rebel Heart.
In Dark Ballet she is focused on other people's anger and what they have done or do but she is beautifully defiant in the song to where you feel the victum is the strong one and achieves something others can not even imagine.
In Madame X she is again able to turn her feelings into empowering art.
