This is my favorite version. I even remember buying it. Such a shame we have never had a cd or digital source, but we do have some good rips. It's quite similar to the Immaculate Collection version. The Remix was a Number 1 in the UK.

Here's my first attempt at an extended version.  This audio track uses elements from the Deadpool & Wolverine Battle Royale, Choir, and Instrumental versions as well as Madonna's Churchapella and Immaculate Collection versions.

Levon got a reaction from Jitterbug in Fixing GHV2
Since she had already released Something to Remember, I find it forgivable that many ballad hits were excluded. The only thing I found unforgivable was the absence of American Pie, which was one of her biggest hits worldwide. She probably lost a lot of money when Warner included the song on Music (international), so it was no longer exclusive to the soundtrack she produced (with Time Stood Still, the best single that never happened).
With American Pie, GHV2 would have been really good. With two more unreleased/new songs on it, GHV2 would have been great. As a repack in combination with Something to Remember it would have been almost perfect.

I guess they had to extend the album in last minute, because in some countries runtimes over 43 or 45 minutes were required for album charts. Below that YCD would have been considered as an EP. Without Physical Attraction the run time would have been about 42:31.
Another speculation is that Think of Me has been replaced by Physical Attraction. There have been leaked longer remix versions of Think of Me, supposedly mixed by Jellybean for YCD.
In my opinion, Over and Over did not fit stylistically at all to the other songs: Too fast, too many annoying sound effects and much too long. Overall I love the album though.

I think cash in fits quite well. Of course, they also wanted to hold the fans in line while the upcoming break. It was foreseeable that it would take a longer time until the next studio album, as Madonna was busy with film and stage projects - and it was too early for a first greatest hits, even if she already had more hits at that time than most artists in their whole life.
The long unmixed versions went on vinyl to DJs and the single edits probably went as vinyl promo to journalists. The CDs are presumably mostly bootlegs. (edited)

I suppose that Madonna was not quite so happy with WTG, which some critics saw as a rip-off of La Isla Bonita and only floated on its wave of success. Maybe that's one of the reasons why they preferred to keep the song exclusively on the soundtrack, which sold fantastically, but also remembered of the flop of the movie.
LAP established Madonna as a serious artist and so they decided to go with Cherish, because her then current successful studio album couldn't be represented by only two singles. Maybe they also picked Cherish to compensate for the loss of the musically similar song True Blue, which also sold better than Cherish - but five True Blue singles would have been simply overweight.
By holding back a few gems (True Blue, Dress You Up, Who's That Girl, Gambler, Angel, Causing a Commotion & Keep it Together), they also supported the sale of the albums they contained. By leaving them out, they probably made more money than if they had put them all on a double album. Of course it was disappointing for many fans, but the new two tracks dried every tear.

I like it. It's a big step up from the oddities Madonna has been constantly delivering for a long time. Hopefully there will be some remixes for it.

That was my first concert back then and I loved the beginning the most with Open Your Heart, then The Look of Love, Into the Groove and La Isla Bonita. The sound at the concert was horrible, but hardly anyone noticed because everyone was dancing and singing along so loudly.

Joni Mitchell is an extraordinary musician. She is 80 years old. She recovered from a near fatal brain aneurysm at 74 and has taught herself how to speak, move and play guitar again. She is an extraordinary talent who has written some of the greatest music of the 20th century. Whether it’s ignorance that people don’t know who the photo is of or they just think it’s funny to implicitly mock her knowingly, she deserves better.

Also her choice to be a public figure and her choice to display that ass for everyone to notice = her choice opening the discussion about it.

She can do what she wants, I suppose she always has but that also comes with a lot of opinions about her and that’s just part of the game.

    🤷🏻‍♂️

My, nor your opinions matter. But it’s still, objectively a botched butt job. It is what it is.

Levon got a reaction from Kae-Leah Williamson in Why is the girlie show not as remembered as blond ambition?
In 1990 she was famous. In 1993, she was much rather infamous. With the explicit sex stamp, she was simply no longer accessible family entertainment. On the one hand, this gave her the freedom to not have to give so much consideration artistically, but on the other hand, it severely limited her audience reach.
Certainly, the Girlie Show was more demanding than the previous shows, but with high artistic standards, you also lose all the people who tend to attach less importance to that: Many concertgoers don't want a sophisticated theatrical performance, but rather light escapism.

    Guys please don't overreact.
I was really really really disappointed to miss the last part of the show. It's not technically an encore as there is the Michael Jackson interlude. Anyway, this tour tells the story of Madonna - the beginnings in the 80s, the erotica years, the family days - so it can't end with Rain. Bitch I'm Madonna and LUV are like the celebration of who she is.
I don't want to blame anyone, but I wouldn't send an anathem against England...

What censorship laws?!  The ONLY time  concert venue curfews are a problem is when Madonna tours here and she cannot start on time. It has been like this since MDNA. It's not the venue's fault, or the UK's fault, it's Madonna and her team's fault. They know exactly what needs to be done.
Why they are having technical issues moments before the show starts and during it is a mystery. They've been rehearsing this for months!  If this show started at 8pm she'd have a whole hour to play with if something goes wrong, instead of having to cut songs.

She knows about the terrible curfew beforehand tho and should've been on time, I'm always going to take that perspective. I'm not allowed to be late for work or I get docked

She came on much later than last night, knowing full well that the curfew was 30 mins earlier.
The lateness tonight cost her £400,000 in fines.
The lights coming on at the end of Rain was so jarring and it did not feel like an ending.

A bit Dramatic, don't you think?  Second show in. Most people aren't even sure what the full set list really consists of.  No set list was promised and she still put on a two hour show.  For me, it's not a huge loss as if we were to go by last night's show,  we only are missing the Like A Virgin./Billie Jean interlude and Bitch, I'm Madonna.  She doesn't even sing Like A Virgin live.  Bitch, I'm Madonna isn't a well known song by Madonna anyway. Also many artists change up their set lists throughout their tours.  This isn't highly abnormal.
I say let's see what happens with the next few shows before going into a meltdown mode.  She still offered a 2 hour show and tonight's performances were quite amazing!!

Free? Are you on smack? I paid £500 to see this, I expect the full show that everyone else at every other date gets.
I expect her to be late. I don’t expect to come away feeling shortchanged.
