Borderline is my favorite from this album! Although, I most prefer the 2009 'Celebration' edit of it. I think the original is a bit too unnecessarily long.

Selfishly, I'm quite disappointed in the entire North American leg being postponed. I'm off from teaching during the summer and I had my first ever Madonna VIP package secured for night 1 at Madison Square Garden on August 23rd. I was so excited to end my summer fulfilling my biggest Madonna dream besides meeting her - getting to be in the Pit! Living my VIP pit fantasy seeing the queen of pop without any stress of having work that day or the day after sounded like a paradisiac night. And it was still early enough on the tour where I felt pretty safe from any injurious mishaps occurring involving a knee or hip.
Even when it gets rescheduled, it simply won't be the same having to worry about taking off from work. Not to mention my lingering fear that she could get injured again by that point, so late in the tour, and I could end up with a cancelled or subpar performance like I heard about the tail end of the Madame X Tour. I hope my fears turn out to be for naught.
P.S. I don't need anyone yelling at me for posting a selfish thought. I'm allowed to care about my experience. Just let me get away with this and keep scrolling if you feel like replying something negative, please.

Vinyls are like dicks, you enjoy the 7"  sometimes but you prefer the 12"

I love my vinyls. I am always listening to music, while at my desk, on the phone. I have  a external drive just for music, that's why I don't care for CDs, then on the go I can make playlist for my phone or stream it.
But I'm listening to my vinyls when I'm away from my desk, when I'm not working. When I made some food, when I sit down to read, when I have friends over , while playing board games. I like the ritual, taking them out, give them a clean, flip them. Listening to a whole album in one go. Considering how everything is becoming more automated and easily available. Feeling more aware of doing things for pleasure it's rewarding.

How the heck have there only been 2-3 pages added to this thread since M's announcement, meanwhile y'all would rack up 8 pages of nonsense in half a day while we knew nothing?

I don't listen to or particularly like 80s music, but I love this album! Well, I like modern music influenced by 80s music. But Madonna's albums are the only 4 80s albums I listen to.

With the 40th Anniversary of Madonna's debut album approaching us this month (Originally Released on July 27th, 1983), I thought it would be fun to poll people to see what their most favorite song is from her first album.  I can't say I'm sure how Madonna and her team are going to celebrate the 40th Anniversary?  Maybe a new Holographic album sleeve or slip mat?  LOL!  I'm still hoping for a expansive re-issue as described by the Warner deal in 2021.  If not, it will be a very lost opportunity.  Anyway, feel free to add your thoughts on this album and the song you chose.  Love to hear your thoughts.  I've added the 2001 Remastered Album (via Youtube) above for you to enjoy while you choose and discuss your favorites!

Feel free to join another fun thread I started earlier this month that celebrates this album, that features all the music, interviews,  promo performances, rare pics, many demos and more.  Thanks to all who have already participated and contributed to it so far.

And here's a rare bonus demo take of a song that didn't make it on the album:

I know what you mean. It wasn't really until 1986 that I started buying her albums and singles.  But when I did, I was like a rabid dog trying to get everything up to that point.  Before then, I taped songs from the radio, checked out her albums from the Library and recorded them and so forth.

Originally the debut album was to be called "Lucky Star".  Photographed by Edo Bertoglio and designed by Madonna's friend Martin Burgoyne. Wheels were in motion, copies were pressed but then Madonna sat with Gary Heery and everything was changed.  According to Seymore Steins Autobiography, Madonna felt that the images were "iconic" enough.
