So many people complaining for threads and threads and threads and more threads that "MadONna dOeSn'T cARe fOr HeR lEgaCY" and when she does, people still complain.
    Jeez you're exhausting.

Random but this comment from a ATRL user is sending me

It begins with Madonna sitting in a team meeting. Her phone lights up -- A text from Guy: "I want to see a marriage counselor".
She closes her eyes. She sighs. A montage of clips gossiping about her adoption, her marriage struggles, her age...these flash across the screen. She is tired of the controversies and personal life challenges.
She opens them and stares at the group of Warner A&R Reps. Silence.
    "Candy Shop. That's the single."
"....no..." says one of the Reps. "Absolutely not. We're doing the Justin Timberlake song".
She smiles. She knows what she is doing. She has a plan. A flash of Candy Shop performances from future tours flashes before her eyes.
"Fine. We'll call the record Hard Candy"
"But Madonna, it's already called Give It 2 Me, and we have the boxing theme photoshoot already comple--"
    "Hard Candy."
    She is a freedom fighter.
Title credits roll: Madonna: Still Sticky, Still Sweet -- The Biopic.

Almost a month has passed since the greatest show Madonna has ever performed in front of 1.6M people
In our podcast Santa Madonna we attempted to make a short video journal about the atmosphere of these days and the Rio experience in first person
I have been part of this community since the forum opened and I wanted to share this with you guys, if you don't speak Spanish I think turning the CC option on and automatic translating to English is pretty decent to get the jest of it
I hope you like it and for those of us who were there, I hope it brings back good saudade and nice memories for the best days of (at least MY) life

and if you have the time, let me know what you think!!

the rules changed right after (like, the literal week after) POG's peak, if you notice the week after the change the single fell a lot (from #11 to #30) , it all happened because those rules meant -in short- that pop radio got less weight and had to compete with country and R&B, and all of those airplay-only singles that were not eligible before got to chart... I think we got lucky POG got to #11 BUT had they released the CD single+maxiCD at the same time one or 2 weeks before (with the radio peak) , we for sure would've got another top 10.
They took too long , again.

Correct. People online talk about Mariah discounting her single circa Glitter but I distinctly remember her doing it even during her big period.
I worked at a Blockbuster Music for a few months in early 96 when I was a teen. I remember her singles being discounted lower than the standard discounts for popular titles. This was during her Daydream mega hit period.
There was one day I was stocking product w/an asst mgr who was updating price stickers. Can’t remember if it was One Sweet Day or Always Be My Baby but he was like, “they’re reducing the price so low they’re not even making a profit. They just want to move units.”

well POG had its final week on the charts wayyyy back in Jan '99 and NRM made its debut in....May '99
the maxi was released in March (limited vinyl) and peaked in May (thanks to the CD version btw)
the CD single got released in May same for the maxi
and it got airplay but back in March (on top40 mainstream) and peaked in April but the WR geniuses decided to wait until May to release the CD single and maxi
so yeah they took forever and didn't really push it much

Heartbreaker was 69 cents back then '(99)
btw One Sweet Day ('95)  was 49c for the cd single and 99c for the cd maxi

Madonna at the time was charging 2-3.99usd for a CD single and 6-7.99usd for a CD maxi

Yes, I agree about the releases of those singles.  They took too long to release them and when it did, radio wasn't playing the songs as much.  POG should have been a top 10 in the U.S. and they could have made it happen if they made sure the single was out earlier.
I think the non-single release of Beautiful Stranger irks me the most because that song would have definitely been a top 5 if not another #1 for her.  It reminds me how they handled Into The Groove in the U.S.  There is no doubt in my mind ITG would have been a #1 hit for her as well.
