I am surprised how poorly I rated a lot of the songs, not too many highlights for me outside the biggest hits.... but still, overall, I would rate the album with a high grade...

to me she looks like the Who's That Girl cartoon Madonna, love her!

I was super surprised by how much of the music on Ray of Light was already done before Madonna even got involved. The writing/production credit on Ray of Light (the song) is really debatable, the song was already finished before Orbit even started working on the record.

I'm trying to find all the demos of M's songs that are performed by other artists... I can think of a few, does anyone have any other ideas?

Her first solo performance was at Uncle Sam's Blues Club in Roslyn, Long Island in October 1981, before she was signed to Sire. Photographer George Dubose documented the show.

I was contacted by John Phillips, the bouncer at Hurrah's who was sidelining as a radio promotions man, shopping Madonna's first demo to radio stations. He put me together with Camille, of Empire Management, Madonna's manager. Camille asked me to go to Uncle Sam's Blues, a club in Roslyn, Long Island and make live photographs of just the singer who was fronting a band called "The Breakfast Club". Just the singer, not the band. Hmmmm? There was this sexy, young woman wearing barely-concealing costumes of chamois skin and foxtails. She was oozing sexuality, but seemed shy or unsure of herself. I went back stage between sets to meet her. I asked her what her real name was. "Madonna." I offered her encouragement and wrote a short list of suggestions regarding her performance. I was trying to be supportive. When her manager, Camille, discovered the note, she was furious and ejected me from the dressing room, screaming, "How dare you speak to my artist!" I stayed in the club and shot the second set. I took the train back to Manhattan and never heard from Camille again. I referred Madonna to the promoters of Club NY and we saw her shows at the Underground, Danceteria and the Roxy, without a band. My negatives of Madonna's first gig sat in my files for 15 years before anyone had any interest in publishing them. I have since recouped my expenses and then some from my first meeting with Madonna.






 
She first performed "Everybody" live at Danceteria as part of Haoui Montaug's No Entiendes cabaret revue on December 16, 1982.
 
She performed it on TV for the first time on the show Dancin' on Air, which aired on January 9, 1983.
 

I question a lot of what she says i interviews though. I think it's either because she doesn't want to go down that deep a habit hole with the interviewer cause she finds it will take away from subjects she wants to angle in on during the brief press junkets or she likes the audience to have the perspective of her solely focusing on the now and the immediate. She's likely tired of questions about Orbit and Price and the creative process of yesteryear. Though I could see her spending time now there is a purposeful looking back. Artists save stuff for auto blogs and re-releases etc. We know she keeps detailed journals and no doubt stuff is all recorded daily throughout the years.

I don't think most people are desperate for Madonna to do something disco necessarily I don't think she needs to do a 70's disco album to give most people what they want  - I myself think most  just want something of quality anywhere in the electronic dance spectrum but not rap/hip hop/trap/urban area.  Ray of Light, Music, American Life and Confessions are all very different but work so great. Would love it if she done a great house type album (not the generic EDM classless style she went for with MDNA) or even a downtempo but electronic based album like London Grammar do and Massive Attack.   Just so tired of the Mike Dean/Kayne/Diplo trap/hip hop autotune direction she seems to be continuing with maybe to please the people around her like her dancers, kids and boyfriend than her fans and being surrounded by Yes people she possibly is thinking this is what the fans want most too when don't think that is true

or.... critics who paid no attention to an unknown painter were asked about the paintings now that his identity has been revealed. If anything, the critics would have benefited more from buying his work and then praising it to heavens.
