People like to hate on Tay cause she's too famous and successful. We should be happy that the females are on top of the music industry now!
And yes, Madonna will always be the BEST! (for me) because she is the BLUEPRINT on how to be a popstar. There will never be another Madonna ever! Not even Gaga or Chappel.

even if you lowered Taylor's ticket prices to S&S prices and reduced her tour to the same number of shows Madonna did, she'd still break the record, simply because she played bigger stadiums. It's not just charts and increase in prices etc. The demand is huge. Huge crowds were gathering outside of her shows just to hear the show.

I would say Charli XCX and the success of the hyperpop album Brat is in direct opposition to this.  We have Billie Eilish essentially giving jazz vocals and being one of the biggest singers in the world who makes music that you can barely categorize what genre it's in.  We have Kacey Musgraves blurring the lines between disco, country, pop, and folk.  Chappell Roan is a lesbian drag queen.  Beyonce made a country album where one of the songs samples one of the biggest 90's rave anthems of all time - Underworld's Born Slippy.NUXX.  Even that last sentence is INSANE.
There will always be bottom of the barrel garbage in pop music (Jennifer Lopez - not to say that I don't like some of her music, but man she cannot sing and her songs are vapid).  There will always be high quality but "safe" pop (Dua Lipa, Sabrina Carpenter) because the music industry is a business and things need to be profitable.  Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo might be on the more commercial side of things but their deeply personal, emotional and insightful lyrics set them apart.  I would say the current state of pop music is almost the most inventive and innovative it's been since the pre-electronic/post-electronic divide of the late 70's-early 80's.  The reason why is likely because kids today grew up downloading/streaming whatever they wanted and had the entire history of music available with a few strokes of the keyboard.  So artists nowadays are reflecting that by blending genres to the point where straight up "pop" music is hard to come by.  The kids are alright.

I mean, first she's accused of having insane fans who spend all their days streaming her music and spending tons of money on her tickets and merchandise, but then, at the same time, she has to buy streams and "nobody is playing her music loud in the cars". I mean, which is it? The insane fans are not insane enough to play her music with rolled down car windows? Make it make sense.

I'm a 40 year old gay man and I know every Taylor Swift album except her self titled.  I think a lot of you have your heads stuck in the sand if your idea of Taylor Swift's music is "teeny bopper" and you're talking about Shake It Off.  That song is almost a decade old and if going by total stream count is only her FIFTH most popular song.  The string of Folklore/Evermore/Midnights/The Tortured Poets Department have most people in the music industry praising her songwriting ability.  Adele, Billy Joel, Carole King, Stevie Nicks, Ringo Starr, Bruce Springsteen, Phoebe Bridgers, Olivia Rodrigo, Jon Bon Jovi, and Dolly Parton have all praised her songwriting.  Taylor might not write songs that you specifically like to listen to, but to discredit her songwriting ability is basically saying some of the people known for being the best lyricists of all time have no idea what they're talking about.
Multiple women can make good music.  It's ok.

I'm in a relationship with a  38 year old guy who's never heard Into the Groove till I played it to him this year. Some people just don't care about pop music and don't pay attention to hits.

before the huge tour, the general consensus on this very site was that she is local and touring numbers are the biggest showcase of relevancy. Now, all of a sudden, when she sold out massive stadiums worldwide - in some places more than any other international star, the argument against her is that "people don't play her songs out loud in the car"

Also, while her cultural significance is totally different from Madonna's - Taylor has her own significance, like making a huge influence on the young voters in the US. While it's a bit exaggerated, there's talk of Taylor being able to overturn the elections by endorsing a candidate. We didn't have that kind of thing with Madonna and Michael Jackson and Prince. The world has changed and cultural significance has changed too.

The vintage store that she got the dress from has some older posts about the dress, they said it's most probably another Bob Mackie original that Fran Drescher wore, not the exact same dress Madonna has.
Either way, it's great press for Madonna, all the articles are stating it's an iconic piece of fashion history

Madonna definitely was.  As mentioned earlier, with Madonna being part of two options, it will split the votes for Madonna no matter how much M fans vote for her.  She probably would have had a better chance if there was only one option that included Madonna.

I think voting in this honorary category is not the best option for this reason, some nominees are just put in a disadvantaged position.

androiduser got a reaction from Andreo in Patti LuPone drags Madonna's and Kim K's acting
Exactly, Broadway acting and singing has to be over the top and extremely theatrical because it has to be seen from the nosebleeds and all emotion has to be overdone to convey the message. Movies require much more subtlety because you have a closeup of the actor on a huge screen and the speakers can make a whisper clearly audible. Patti knows this, she's well aware of the difference between theater and film, and constant criticism of Madonna's performance is bitter and unjustified.
