So Mirwais did a Q&A on his Instagram Stories and he of course talked about Madonna. The most interesting things:
-His fav Madonna collaboration is American Life (song).
-He would love to do an updated American Life (album).
-Can’t You See My Mind is different from Die Another Day and it’s NOT a ballad.
-His fav Madonna production is Die Another Day.
-It’s true that the first version of X-Static Process was electro.
    -There are some unreleased songs.
-He learned patience from Madonna and she learned patience from him.
-There’s a version of Paradise with Letitia Casta (recorded before Madonna entered the picture) but Madonna changed it and her version is the best version of the song.
-He would love to work with her again.

We've all heard it, over and over, on every single media: Taylor Swift is the first artist to reach the billionaire landmark only thanks to her music. But is she?
First, a look at Forbes estimates of Taylor's worth :
-$500 million from royalties and touring (which is a rough estimate)
-$125 million from real estate (not music even though bought from music royalties)
-$500 from the ESTIMATED worth of her music catalog (she sold 200 million records but is also a streaming multiple records holder) - but that's an estimate, that's not in her pocket at all.
How do they know how much her music catalog is worth? Well, according to a source, they say...Taylor's PR?
That brings us to Madonna's music catalog worth. Springsteen sold his for $500 million and he sold like 150 million records. We can easily say that Madonna's catalog is worth AT LEAST the same - she sold $400 million records, her streaming numbers are fair (better than Springsteen's, right?). But when you look to Madonna's profile on Forbes.com, you see that they estimate her wealth to $580, they are not even mentioning the worth of her music catalog, which is strange (since if you look on Taylor's profile on Forbes.com, they do mention it). Does that mean that Madonna's wealth of $580 includes her music catalog's worth? We don't know. But let's do the math, if it does not, that would mean we have to add it to their estimate which would bring Madonna's fortune way beyond the billion landmark. If it does, that would mean that Madonna is only worth $80 million? Who are they kidding?
    What do you think?

We’ve heard this story about their encounter already so I won’t add my two cents about that in particular. But I will say that I’m sick and tired of people faulting Madonna for not being nice. It’s the single most boring thing about celebrities today. Never wanting to cause a scene or ruffle a few feathers.
Can you imagine being a woman in the late 70’s/early 80’s and navigating the music industry? Imagine being 65 and navigating it now. The 💥MEN💥 behind the scene's pulling the strings, who own the labels, who cut the checks, are completely misogynistic lawless MONSTERS! I’m thrilled that Madonna isn’t ‘nice’.  If she was, with her self admitted limited abilities, she’d be eaten alive. We wouldn’t have the game changer we have today without her being a calculating, stone cold bitch when it comes to her business dealings and artistic integrity. So she gave you a weird look…deal with it. She told a few kids to fuck off when she had dinner with Michael Jackson…so what? Not to mention, she’s old school NYC bitch! The one Giuliani took away from us. The one where people actually got in your face if they had a problem with you. Yeah, she’s a bitch. She, along with any other woman that the public  love to shit on for not being nice (Jlo 👀 ), don’t owe you niceness.
    Thank God she’s not nice.

I couldn't disagree more.  I'm loving what I'm seeing so far.  Compare this to any greatest hits show that her contemporaries of a comparable age and legacy are doing, and this is far and away more intricate and high-energy.  Expecting her to give you another Blond Ambition, Confessions, or MDNA Tour was just unrealistic.

Christine and the Queens is in no way considered a has-been in France, he is very much considered in France, not always understood but he is a national treasure and people are quite aware of his international impact (as far as a French pop artist can be). Sales are not relevant, the artists you refer to, like Brigitte Fontaine, do not sell well either, far below even.
You project on him a lot of negativity and you clearly don't like him but do not try to spread fake news about him, when that's just your opinion, not reality.

I came on here thinking I’d find a more enthusiastic response to this! I personally think the song is quite brilliant, and that there is a reason it has gone viral. The production is very much suited to the era, but has a timelessness to it. I danced to it for a good 45 minutes on a loop, alternating with the fast version over excellent headphones, and it was a blast! Very hypnotic, like Everybody, or Up Down Suite, but also razor sharp like Music. It’s the most relevant Madonna could be at this point in the culture, and it’s doing well on the basis that it actually resonates organically with the zeitgeist, and not as a result of a marketing ploy. That’s so exciting!

I’m now convinced that the real problem with negativity on this forum is that it is fundamentally always an expression of an inner frustration with not feeling like we older fans belong to the culture that Madonna has her finger on the pulse of. She is authentically modern and contemporary in every way, and yet we all contort ourselves in revulsion at the world as it has become that Madonna very clearly lives wholeheartedly in. As someone else astutely pointed out earlier in this thread, each major generational wave rejects the one before it in many ways, and each one’s influence ripples through time, coming back as an echo. Madonna has literally been the most forward-thinking mainstream legacy artist ever, and that is truly what she represents: Someone who knows that those ripples will continue to ebb and flow with the passage of time, and she’s riding the waves as they come, and until they come no more for her personally. And even then, Madonna’s influence will infiltrate new trends, technologies and mediums that we cannot even imagine today.

On a more personal note, I’m acutely aware that there are things that I am firmly anchored in as a result of life experience and maturity, that have made me less inclined to be malleable. That means that I resist aspects of progress and social evolution. I am not one of those who doesn’t know how to use a new technology or gadget and then refuses to learn, but there are things I’m not that interested in adapting to because I have independent priorities that make me not solely tethered to the culture at large. It’s okay to love Madonna’s legacy and not love the feeling of her being part of a shifting world culture that we don’t understand or want to be a part of. It’s okay to feel like the way things were seems better to us, or at least safer! However, it seems pointless to me to observe Madonna today without seeing her as wholly contemporary. She does not want to only market her past in sacrifice of her creativity. Maybe her creativity isn’t always aimed at her core audience because she has faith that her core audience has always remained open as she has pushed ahead, against barriers and into whatever the ether and zeitgeist can alchemize. I always have to apply this to my assessment of anything contemporary Madonna does, and she’s always surprised me with hindsight! She is truly quite magical if you really think about it. How many times have I initially cringed at something she’s done, or felt I didn’t connect immediately to a song or an album? Too many times to remember, but that also doesn’t negate the fact that there are way more evidently amazing accomplished Madonna masterworks that I did adore immediately along with the masses!

I don’t know where the Madonna road will lead, and that’s kind of exciting and scary all at once, but I am glad that we can still reminisce about how extraordinary it was to be a Madonna fan throughout all the years of legacy-building! I WANT IT ALL! Back That Up deserves its moment!

Then every single artist from the 1980s, 1990's and a lot from the 2000's are all irrelevant. Write them all off
There is no other artist that started in those decades that creates so much buzz around releases, press, internet buzz, performances, award show performances, album chart placings etc.  When you wrap that up all together she is still very viable in the music industry. Yes Madame X charted extremely strong compared to artists from her time. And yes so did the remix album Finally Enough Love.
The general public don't know specifics of her projects but they certainly know shes still ticking along.  Whether they like it or.
You cant say that for many.
For a artist who hasn't really had a hit single since 2008 on the charts, she's done a incredible job of still being seen and heard

It's not she's going to drop them all a week apart from one another.  She JUST released Finally Enough Love, she's gonna wait for awhile before the next one so 1) the market isn't oversaturated, 2) each release has a chance to sell through before the next one.  I can't imagine that she is going to do more than 2 a year at the very most, and even that might be rushing through the catalogue.  People really need to learn patience with this stuff.  This year alone we are getting the Who's That Girl 12", the 6 LP Finally Enough Love box, 2 LP versions of FEL in red, clear, silver (probably black and not sure how many other colors), the Erotica picture disc, and the Everybody reissue.  I mean, I don't know about everyone else, but I have bills to pay too, I can't just drop $200 every other week cuz some people wanna be impatient.  Plus, come on people, get out of the now-now-now mindset!  Enjoy this time, we have TONS of new material coming out over the next few years now, savor these releases, look forward to the next ones.  Part of the fun of following and collecting an artist like M is the anticipation and the speculation!  To give a crude analogy, sure, it can be great to find some hot dude at a club and just go bang one out, but it can also be just as fun and even more satisfying to flirt across the bar for awhile before taking them home and slowly taking their clothes off, you know?

What were you expecting, exactly?  I know a lot of people are moaning that it's not the Sire demo or whatever, but let's think about this logically here.  We know that the plan for each album reissue is to make them into box sets with rarities and unreleased tracks.  Now, pretty much anybody knows that, especially for the first album, it's not like she recorded a ton of songs and narrowed them down into an album.  She more or less had 9 songs, with "Ain't No Big Deal" being the leftover.  Which means that there probably isn't a ton of material for the first album that hasn't been released, just some alternate versions of the songs on the record, the unreleased versions of "Ain't No Big Deal", a couple live performances, and the Sire demo.  So she's being smart in not releasing a quarter of that stuff early for a niche Record Store Day release, when she needs material to drive the reissues.   And really, as far as things go, the reissues campaign has been pretty good to us so far.  We got the Who's That Girl/Causing a Commotion 12", which has never been released in that particular format before, a brand new hand-curated 50 track remix album containing some pretty rare/unreleased versions, a re-issue of an ultra rare and ridiculously expensive picture disc that has been absolutely unattainable for most collectors until now, and now we're getting a 40th anniversary reissue of her first single with a new cover.  Is it the best thing ever?  Nope.  Is it something different and interesting and limited edition, something that fits into the anniversary/reissue celebration?  Sure is.  And honestly, for as cool as it can be to have something super limited edition, I'm getting tired of having to hope and pray that I both have the funds and the luck to be able to be able to buy some of this stuff, cuz the purchase window is insane on a lot of the releases.  I missed out on the Broken 12" and the light blue Madame X, and I'll probably never own them because those fuckers disappeared with a quickness, and the price on them are astronomical.  Even though the biggest focus of my physical collection is colored vinyl, I'm pretty confident that I will always have those as holes in my collection because "limited edition".  So if there's stuff I might miss, I'd much rather it be a 12" that I already own the music on than to have something that I don't already have and then can't get because it's limited/scalpers.  And just check eBay for the prices of the Finally Enough Love box of you don't know what I'm talking about.

Madonna evolves. She is always reinventing herself. Whats really pxxsing me off is the ageism that crops up everytime a story on Madonna is posted. All by people who weren't even born when she appeared on the scene back in 1982 She is a strong, self made woman..and weathered abuse from her detractors for years...But she stood her ground
She is now 64..and those savagely roasting her feel the need to remind people that
    - acting and feeling sexy stops at 35
    - you can't indulge in cosmetic procedures over the age of 35
    - you can't have sex over 35
    - you can't have a younger man after the age of 35
    - you can't re mix your own music after 40 years in the business
    - you cannot age.Period.
Madonna has earned the right to do as she pleases..If she wants surgery.. good..If she wants to still feel sexual at 64..Excellent!! Ageism has to be up there as another aspect of prejudice and hate that we no longer tolerate as a society
Women are forever told to act their age or grow old gracefully..We are all individuals and we should meet old age head on, the way we want to meet it And the weight of other peoples judgement needs to stop (especially from younger women)
