Yes on the one hand. On the other, I remember when I started liking her and being interested, it seemed like she was super private and everything she was cooking was super secret and exciting and magical, that is after ROL. And to me she was super classy. With each new release, I felt everything was carefully planned, she looked amazing, the live performances were carefully done, rehearsed and you saw she was into them, vocally, physically..oh the good old times. Now, to tell you the truth, I don´t care if she records new music or makes a movie or whatever, I feel I won´t like the product anyway as much as I liked them in the past. So, it´s waiting till death but waiting for products that are not so good as in the past. A tik tok remix of Frozen that takes months to be completed when she released such iconic, brave, innovative and influecial records in the past? And it´s not ageism, cause I do believe totally she could be very good again if she had it as a goal.
I think she has been amazing almost till Madame x, although not all her eras have been so classy and beautiful. But it´s lately that to me she has lost the magical aura she had, and the feautures I associaded with her persona are not there anymore: truly well thoughts remarks, high stamina like noone else, well done and well focused planning, a super trained physic, and very well trained voice, intelligent messages, great music, awesome videos. I really thing she has been very depressed at some point and stopped the  fighting, a thing I can understad totally, but it feels like the Madonna I loved it´s not there anymore. I only hope at least she is happy privately..anyway her legacy will always be in my heart for the rest of my life.

I get you,  i think it goes back to the too much exposure..   photo's of her on the toliet saying she's getting her shit together..  we don't need that.   It's inspiring that she has a fantastic family etc also..  but we don't need to see her kids everyday either.   We see far to much.   Everyday i long for info about box sets etc..  I look at her facebook / instagram or whatever and she just appears to be pissing about.   If your going to post images of yourself in a studio why can't we see her singing or doing the mixing.   It's like she longs to be a teenager again and that's what i don't like :(

I think the problem is not that she does things too late, the problem is that she announces things too soon. It's like she says "I have an idea, a new album of remixes, I'm going to post it on instagram right now!" and after that she starts thinking "Which songs do I have to include? Will be new remixes or old ones? Oh, I have to call a DJ... wait, maybe  I can invite others to sing with me. Oh, the DJ is busy, I have to wait..." And all that takes time and people start to get tired of waiting and when it comes out is like "I've been waiting for this a year, I'm bored of it... Next!!!!!".

She would not have the carreer she has had, without him. The thing is he has always give her strong and catchy melodies where she could add amazing lyrics and sing with emotion so they created masterpieces. One of the problems of Rebel Heart, Madame x and even Confessions or Hard Candy is the lack of intense melodies where she can express her humanity, so she sometimes sings like a robot with uptempo music that does not sound emotional and do not reach audience´s heart, as it happened with Frozen, LAP, La isla bonita, Live to tell and many others.

I was never crazy about Erotica as an album, but for many fans it seems it´s one of her best. Not for me. The confessions era was amazing, but the album was not that masterpiece on the league of ROL or other albums of hers. The interscope albums and Hard Candy were not as bad as many fans are always trying to say.

1)Loved the Tour, the only time I have seen her, in Barcelona and she was flawless and the show amazing and was a total success for her.
2)The Superbowl perfomance: awesome, iconic, loved by everybody and a total success.
3)The cover of the album: one of her most beautiful ever.
4)The album itself:oks, I could do without Birthday song or I fucked it up, and I never quite liked the first single, even though it was fun and a success, but at the end MDNA mixed all the Madonnas (the funny, the strong one, the  fighter, the ballader, the melancholic and reflective). Girl gone wild is pure vintage Madonna and the video is a total homage to her carreer. I always loved Addicted or Some girls, and some ballads like Masterpiece and Falling free remind me of the best ballads with William Orbit of the ROL time. It is special for me that acoustic version of Love spent, which is really emotive and on the other hand, I´m a sinner reminds me of the LAP days and it´s also quite funny and ironic. And Beautiful Killer is sooo sexy.
    5) It was very succesful at the first, went to number one and sold at first a lot of copies, oks I know it had  no legs, but on that last decade who had legs not being Adele?
6)She looked amazing throught that Era, much better than in the previous one and much better than today.
7)She danced wildly on the Tour as one would expect Madonna dance on a Madonna show, she was impecable and even at that age, superhuman.
8)The whole era and the album gave me a much more european vibe than Hard Candy, which I think suits her musical work better.
9)She fighted for many great causes and was very brave on many times, but with more intelligence, wit and charisma than in later manifestations, and in a less narcissistic way.
10)It was for me the last era of Madonna in her prime as a force of nature, despite it all, because, even I like a lot some things about The Rebel Heart era and album, I think by 2015 her insecurities, which on the other hand made her human and that was not bad at all,  started to show a lot, and it was quite clear though the tour she was struggling personally and professionally (dancing less, the Roccogate, the leaks, the fall on that awards show..) and then for me the Madame x one has been her worst ever (eurovision, covid, tour cancellations and at the same time my father died and I have the most horrendous memory of that era, sorry.)

Agreeing Best Friend for example is very good. It´s just Birthday song is freaky and bad, but it´s in in the extra edition, does not count the same.
I like Rebel Heart, even If I don´t love it, but I agree: too messy, too many songs, some are good, somo not so good, as a whole it´s not a masterpiece. For MDNA it´s much better crafted as a whole thing.

Absolutely cannot forgive M, or the record label for NOT taking better care of Nothing Fails. One of her best songs ever, with SO MUCH potential. No video, no promo, they just wanted to sweep anything American Life related under the rug and focus on softening her image by going blonde, wearing floral patterns, releasing children’s books and doing an animated movie we all forget... etc.

    Some more random MDNA thoughts:
I Fucked Up/ Best Friend are a very underrated duo.
The only thing that would have made the Cyberraga/ I'm A Sinner moment even better would have been a guest appearance from Fraggle Rock.
I think the only bad song on the album is Birthday Song.
The tour had the best version of Candy Shop.
I never went to see it live. It's the first M era I can remember having so many videos of people being there for rehearsal. Like I cannot imagine watching her rehearse in front of me and then do the show. It's the most bizarre and fascinating thing to me about that tour/era.

One last thing, probably very controversial: I like Superstar in all its glory full of corniness. It´s the same Madonna of True Blue, Dear Jessie, Spanish lesson and many more, and I prefer it a thousan times better than all this artists are here to disturb the peace stuff she is so so doing lately.

One more thing to say about: MDNA had rave reviews when it came. So for those who trash the whole thing, ok, but it´s your opinion or your taste of your view.

Oh, and what´s more: I disagree she was not involved and she recorded external demos very little related to If it was the case, she then changed then in order to fit the living moment at the time, as it features very personal songs that tell you the whole trip Madonna had been since her divorce. In fact, to me it is one of her most personal albums ever, and it feautures a journey and an emotional arc, with the start, the middle, and the end: making peace with the guy, in her mind. Give me MDNA any time before Erotica. Her soprano voice is at its most beautiful on Falling free.

Give me Madonna any day over Celine Dion, but one must recognise she is very good at what she does: easy listening and pop music with powerful vocals and great live performances and she takes care of her instrument and her shows, showing her respect for her audiences, and never speaks a bad word about anyone, including Madonna, who she respects highly, as she has expressed many times. I think the good thing is having different styles of artists and not everbybody doing and singing the same things, or acting the same.
Madonna is, was,  like no other, but she could be better than she is currently if she would care more about it.

This topic made me want to listen to MDNA in these last days, I got to say I always enjoy this album even more than some of her classics tbh. I don't understand how it is considered THAT bad. It might be uninspired and less heartfelt but it's a well crafted fun dance album Imo. And the ballads are God tier imo

    I think you’re rewriting history.
In 2011 Gaga released Born This Way. And while the release and lead single were pretty huge due to the most expensive marketing campaign at the time, after that the album failed and she got a ton of mainstream criticism for Judas with people saying she was copying Madonna again, by tackling religion.
Then the tour flopped in 2012 when she faked her hip injury.
And then in 2013 she was back with artpop that was a complete mess in terms of promotion and flopped as well.
Meanwhile, while MDNA wasn’t a huge success, Madonna was on top of her game. I doubt she had any interest in making that album a hit since it was rushed messy and badly promoted.
But her SB appearance and tour were huge successes that Gaga could only dream of at the time

I also had a change of heart for this album. Second one actually as I loved it when it first came out and after a few years I didn't. Fans always consider this particular album her lowest point along with Hard Candy, but MDNA is far superior. You can listen to it all the way through without getting a headache, like from HC's inexplicably long tracks and their RnB beats.
It can feel rushed and like a mess but it wasn't meant to be more than that. But even for those who take each piece of Madonna's discography very seriously, they can see it as one of the most reflective pieces of Madonna's life. Having divorced from her company, from her man, having rebellious teenage children all over the place, a woman on the last of her reproductive days, she was going through a lot. MDNA came out to be a divorce record with great energy to match her peers and even her children's energy. She was angry then she was sad then bitter and this record was her catharsis in a way.
We have to appreciate it for the honesty, it being more vulnerable than even the least known tracks of COADF. For its dance quality which puts most of today's pop albums to shame. Of course we could all do without some of its tracks like Superstar and GMAYL. But that is for every album she makes. Like A Prayer's Love Song is kinda meh, Ray of Light's Shanti/Ashtangi, Erotica's Did You Do It? and so on.
That said I still can't get over tracks like Girl Gone Wild, I'm Addicted, Gang Bang, Some Girls, I Don't Give A, I'm A Sinner and Masterpiece. I have started to enjoy Love Spent and Falling Free as well. The sound well has somehow aged. But I've learned to enjoy it for what it was back then and all memoried associated to it.
There is a smaller great album in MDNA and very Madonnaesque, just not the part of her some fans can appreciate. A mourning album by a divorced woman is always better received. A mad divorced woman doesn't click. I'd even put it ahead of Hard Candy, Like A Virgin, Music and probably beside her first one. It's not polished and it's not complete, but her life wasn't either.
