The last casino I was at in Ontario had a Madonna slot machine. The art was taken from the (edit) Material Girl era Anyone else see this elsewhere in the world? And does anyone know if her management or M herself approved and/or knows about it?

The SEX book is being exhibited in Barcelona's CCCB as part of a (quite good) exhibition around Marquis de Sade's work and its effect on society and art.

Back in 1992, Madonna released a Coffee Table Book, called "Sex".  The book was a provocative look at sexual fantasies in photographs and words. It was quite controversial and coincided with the release of her Erotica album. Included with the book was an exclusive song called Erotic. Madonna suffered a lot of backlash at the time, calling her all sorts of nasty names and claiming her book was trash.  But do you agree?  Let's hear from the fans?  Feel free to share your favorite stories, encounters or photos from this book.

Yes, another Express Yourself Edit. It's almost identical to the original Remix Edit, with little changes here and there.

Another Edit a little longer more similar to the Blond Ambition Tour (more similar, not equal).  I hope you think is good enough.

    https://www.discogs.com/digs/music/madonna-40th-anniversary-debut?utm_source=Homepage&utm_medium=Discogs&utm_campaign=Madonna_Music
"After a performance on American Bandstand in January 1984, television host Dick Clark asked Madonna what her dreams were. Her answer: “To rule the world.”
The singer-songwriter was there to promote her self-titled debut album, which had taken over airwaves and dance floors the summer prior. This week marks the 40th anniversary of Madonna’s release — the eight track record that introduced Madonna to the mainstream and began her journey to pop superstardom.
Before she was the Queen of Pop, Madonna was a budding creative looking for her big break. In 1978, she left the University of Michigan and moved to New York with just $35 to pursue a career as a dancer. She found work as a backup dancer, and even performed with the Alvin Ailey and Pearl Lang dance companies, before touring Europe with singer Patrick Hernandez.
When Madonna returned to New York in the summer of 1979, she joined the new wave band Breakfast Club as their drummer. By the following year, she’d left Breakfast Club to form Emmy & The Emmys with musician Stephen Bray. However, after writing and recording a demo together, Madonna decided to promote herself as a solo artist.
She regularly visited nightclubs to persuade DJs to play her solo demo tape. Her persistence paid off — Danceteria’s resident DJ Mark Kamins took a liking to Madonna’s music and arranged for her to meet Seymour Stein, the president and co-founder of Sire Records, who offered her a recording contract.
Recording for Madonna began in the summer of 1982. The singer wrote the majority of the album’s songs and chose musician Reggie Lucas to produce the project. Unfortunately, Madonna clashed with Lucas when the tracks’ final versions didn’t live up to her expectations. She called in DJ John “Jellybean” Benitez to remix the songs — he also contributed the hit “Holiday” to the tracklist — before turning the record in to the label.
Madonna was released in 1983 and straddled the line between dance and pop during the post-disco era. The use of digital instruments, like the Linn drum machine, Moog bass, and OB-X synthesizer gave the album its danceable, synth-pop sound. The polished production complemented Madonna’s bright soprano vocals as she sang tight, catchy refrains about romance, desire, power, and partying. The record peaked at No. 8 on the US Billboard 200, scoring Madonna her first top 10 album.
The album spawned five singles and three of them — “Holiday,” “Borderline,” and “Lucky Star” — charted on the US Billboard Hot 100, peaking at Nos. 16, 10, and 4, respectively. Their accompanying music videos, supported by the rise of MTV, introduced Madonna’s star power to homes across the country and inspired young women to adopt her style.
Madonna was a quintessentially ’80s album that pushed dance-pop to the forefront and set the standard for pop music in the decades that followed. As the world’s best-selling female recording artist and the most successful solo artist in the history of the Billboard Hot 100, her influence and impact cannot be overstated. Madonna’s subversiveness, attention to detail, willingness to break the rules, and penchant for reinventing herself turned her into a cultural icon and made her the blueprint for the modern pop star."

musicman reacted to into the erotico in Sinéad O'Connor, SNL 1992 'WAR'
I was thinking on this for a long time.
In 1992 Sinéad O'Connor after singing a spirited re edition of Bob Marley's song War she just ripped off pope's John Paul II picture. Then, all hell broke loose. I remember as a kid a very distant echo of her act. She did this in order to protest about the fact that the catholic church knew and put a blanket on pedo rapists priests and their actions.
after this revolutionary act, Madonna was envious of this 'publicity' and decided to mock her protest openly my doing this:
which to me shows that all her revolutionary' talk was just that, words. She did everything to attract notoriety in the beggining of her career and then courted more fuel for controversy by releasing LAP in a well syncronised campaign by her company that led to the Pepsi fiasco. She gained millions. O' Conor was an original, a survivor. Madonna was just shalow and cheap.
    I had to say that.

These are the three only official versions of this song. The others are local edits or edits done for various artist compilations (and most likely not official).
Album Version (5:36) - This was released on the first few issues of the single, before it was replaced by Holiday as third single.
Edit/7" Version (3:52) - Released on most of the later 7" issues of the single.
Extended Dance Remix/New Mix/"New" Mix/US Remix Version/US ReMix Version (7:20) - Released on most of the later 12" issues of the single.

Shep Pettibone Remix [2009 Remaster] (3:38) From Celebration, an alternate mix of Shep Pettibone's Immaculate Collection Version, probably made using his stems

TV Track (5:40) Leaked instrumental/dub version of the US Remix with backing vocals.
Video Remix/Remix Edit (5:04) An edit of the US Remix used in the music video.
Lucky Star (4:30) Brazil 16.272, a local edit from either the album version or the US Remix. It's hard to tell.
Edit (3:54) from GoldDisc Various Artists Compilation, almost the same as the original 7" Edit but it has a false edit point during the intro. It's debatable whether this mix is official or not.

musicman reacted to Adonna in Favorite Official Video from First Album?
To continue the celebration of Madonna's 40th Anniversary of her debut album, I thought it would be nice to unite fans once again in another poll, asking which ONE of her official videos from her first album, is your favorite?
Previously, I posted a successful poll HERE asking fans which song is their favorite from the debut album. If you haven't voted in that poll, feel free to do so now.  At the time of this post, "Burning Up" was taking the lead in that particular poll.  Will it do the same with this new poll, regarding videos or will another song/video take the lead?  Let's see and vote.  I've included the four official videos that were released from the album if you need to watch and remind yourself which is your favorite. Furthermore, you can join another thread I posted at the start of this month HERE which is packed with info, rare demos, videos, performances, interviews and pics that celebrate her debut album. Feel free to check that out as well.
As an added bonus, since there isn't really an official video for Holiday, I've added below; my favorite performance video for the song as well.  (It's not among the poll).  I encourage all who participate to do the same, sharing their favorite performance of Holiday from throughout the years. There are so many, especially early promotional performances.  Lastly, feel free to share your thoughts on the video you chose as your favorite among the poll.  Have fun!  July 27th, 2023 is the official 40th Anniversary date for the release of her debut album.  We hope Madonna and her team will commemorate the moment in a big way as well!

And at last, my favorite performance Holiday video (which is not part of the poll). It's just my choice and you can add yours by replying to this thread:
