But putting Causing A Commotion in the singles section of her Spotify, released 1987, won't diminish her Like A Prayer Deadpool EP streams. It's really just for the fans.

Audio and video should be out by now, honestly.
They really work with timings from another era. I still can't believe they didn't capitalize all the good publicity of the big Rio finale and went on radio silence after. She should have released something immediately after, even if it was just a live song/video of any of the songs from the tour.

I think the announcement and preorders going live for LAV40 on her birthday was the last shot here. It would have been a perfect time to market the announcement of the first landmark deluxe set. Sadly, and this is just my opinion, I don’t believe anything of merit is coming now. It’s 12 weeks until the official 40th anniversary of the album. Surely to god, preorders would be out by now. And like some have pointed out, it has been three years since the press release announcing the deal. I am starting to think the only things we will get now are the silver vinyls. 
 
It baffles me that an artist like Madonna who has so many iconic albums, music videos, live performances and tours, has never been celebrated to the degree it should have been. This anniversary of 40 years is MASSIVE. She’s a living legend. An icon. Yet we’ve had nothing! This deal could have milked the fans. Things like The Virgin Tour and Blond Ambition, which are legendary and iconic have not been reissued since their original releases. It’s a crime! I feel like we were promised so much and have received very little in the grand scheme of things. 

That was legit the best promo. 🙃

Madonna finally has over 8 million followers for the first time ever on Spotify.

That’s incredibly important. If they remaster the EP to sound like OYH did on FEL, it would be like having nothing. OYH was probably the song most destroyed by the remastering on FEL.

It'l probably end up with a BAT situation: one tour movie featuring behind the scenes shots and glances from different countries (costume changes, ball guests...) and the more regular TV broadcast from Rio, slightly re-edited for better transitions.

If only Careese had given Madonna that fan things could have turned out differently

 
 

Because I’d imagine getting that show on a major streamer could possibly generate a good amount of interest from general public viewers and casual fans, which is definitely a good thing. Especially considering what a big deal that show was. I’d hope they’d give it a nice, cleaner re-edit but overall I don’t think it’s that bad.
A proper tour film is nice and all for fans but it’ll likely primarily be watched by just fans. Especially if it does end up on some flop service like Epix. That’s sort of embarrassing when gaga and taylor can get theirs on disney+ or max.

Ugh I really hope Epix isn’t the best they can do. She deserves bigger and better than that.

Blame the awful "Celebration" remastering. Apparently left and right channels were swiped on "Material Girl" for "Celebration", and that causes it not to merge automatically probably. WHY IN HELL? Only Warner knows.
Which makes me think if the used the "Celebration" for the 2024 remaster... MESS.

Absolutely not! Jimmy Jimmy isnt about empowering yourself but both Cherish and Superstar are practically drowning in sugar syrup from how sweet they both are!
 
Btw i love shoobeedoo as well 😭😭😭 i think had it been titled differently, reaction to it would be better. LAV is definitely my fav 80s Madonna album. I love every song on it!!!

Spotify’s system is so weird to me. The fact that it didn’t automatically link Material Girl a/v w/Celebration when it can link the latter w/the godawful remaster, or Into The Groove Celebration/Angel single is bizarre. Like I get the slight difference in the LAP Celebration remaster that required manual merging, but I don’t hear it in MG. There’s a 1 second length difference, but that’s also there in the two merged ITG versions (unless they were manually merged by request before the Angel upload?).

Her current Spotify Top 10 already reflects the "Like A Prayer" merging, meaning the album version becomes the main "LAP" version highlighted, instead of the "Celebration" version:

No, to me this just reads as 'they will simply use a old hit in a movie like always and thats it' when in reality this song makes an important moment and the whole climax is built around it, which would be unexpected to those who didnt see the movie yet

No I get you! That’s what I touched on in my comment. I think part of the reason it became such an issue was bc some of those demo leaks were happening during the album era itself iirc. So the fact that some already weren’t happy w/the singles or how the album cycle was rolling out only made it more contentious.

La Isla was an instrumental that was sent by Pat to MJ. He didn’t want it so Pat gave it to M and either she and Pat or  she alone wrote the bulk of the song, like Live To Tell.
ROL she at least added the 2nd verse.
Candy Perfume Girl is a better example of what you all were talking about. 
Many of her albums have a song or two like that. Dear Jesse on LAP. CPG. Don’t Tell Me. Nothing Fails. I think w/MDNA it became more obvious just bc the demos became readily available online around when it was out. There are songs on there that def originated from her though. I’m Addicted sounds like her. Best Friend, which doesn’t seem to get much fan love, is a very personal song and imo one of the better tracks on the album.
I’ve thought about starting a thread on the songwriting credit thing. People can correct me if I’m wrong but I believe Erotica is one of the few albums in which she was involved in the genesis of all the songs (barring the Fever cover, obvs). Confessions too I think. Or I mean, there were no acquired fully completed songs she slightly tweaked and slapped her name on the credits of on either as far as I know.

As I already stated, it would have been at number 41 if it would have been reset on Spotify, not number 95.
