I was hoping we’d get the Power of Goodbye and Drowned World/Sky Fits Heaven eps. There are some good remixes there.
Real shot in the dark but I wish her team would drop the I’ll Remember single. The Orbit mixes are nice and chill.
Next year will be the 30th of BS and the 40th of LAV right around the same time. That’ll be interesting. We already have all the BS singles; maybe she’ll finally officially release that Tupac remix.

Sorry, to clarify, when I say legacy I mean like she has an extensive discography and legacy of creative output. Many revered artists with extensive repertoires are seeing their entire legacies sort of get whittled down to like a song or two, for better or worse. As annoying as that might seem, if the alternative is not being known at all it might not be so bad.

Right but the point I’m getting at is they get those numbers bc excessive playlisting. Yes Whitney is deceased but still that song is on nearly every single damn Apple playlist I look at. And Arista is damn well doing whatever they can to make that happen. It’s the Clive Davis way. The rest of Lauper’s catalog indeed does f**k all. But still, I can’t help but wonder why Material Girl or Like A Prayer can’t get those numbers. It’s bc of all those playlists GJWHF and TAT are on.
For what it’s worth, Ray of Light is one of her higher streamed songs on Apple. Much higher than on Spotify. It’s also on a good amount of Apple playlists. Not a ton like the others mentioned above, but a good amount. Apparently someone there really likes it lol.
The fact that she was able to muster the amazing success over the years that she did is actually pretty remarkable considering Warner mostly seemed to do the bare minimum. She never had a Tommy Mottola or Clive Davis behind her playing the game and manipulating whatever they could.

Have you seen the numbers Girls Just Wanna Have Fun does? It’s INSANE. That and I Wanna Dance With Somebody do wild numbers, leaps and bounds over any M song. Time After Time too. I saw this recently and at first was kinda taken aback until I thought about the playlist factor. On apple music, and I’m assuming spotify as well, GJWHF & IWDWS are on like every single damn playlist they can get on. MG and a few other M songs are on a good amount too but nowhere near as many. And often times buried way down the list. Warner (or Madonna herself lol) are probably too damn cheap to pay for the extra exposure.

I’m starting to think Madonna is bouncing back and strongly(which is so like her)? I love that a dancer mistaking said they were back at The Collesium. I love that Madonna was well enough to travel back to The Hamptons to keep recovering.  I love that Rocco has been seen and smiling. The fact that Live Nation and Ticketmaster etc are still selling tickets today is a good sign too. Sure …we could still hear something soon on some show cancellations, but for now, I think no news is good news and may be a good sign of how well Madonna is progressing? This is all great.
I do wonder however wether in 20 years time after another 20 high profile features du jour her whole top ten on Spotify will be dominated by these late day features and her actual real catalogue will be buried somewhere down the list. 
I know that sounds silly but it's entirely possible. By next year (maybe even Christmas) I believe Popular will do five times its current streams based on its numbers today and will become her most popular song on Spotify. Bookmark me. While I'm so happy for her success I think that's kind of tragic in a way. It's a pretty bland faceless song for M. I'd hate for someone discovering her in a decade to log in to see:

It’s predicted to move up a few spots on the hot 100 as well. Nowhere near the top 20 yet lol, but still, progress is progress!

Sorry to be practical, but is it wishful thinking that some keep positing that they think she will start her tour in London? Why London? Because it’s the start of the European leg? She lives in NY and has for some time. She also rehearsed the tour in NY. It makes more sense to me that she’d start there on August 23rd if her health issues resolve themselves quickly. 
 
It’s all Miss Cleo speculation on my part, but I think the dancers went home knowing they’d be getting a two week break back home, and then would be back in the States mid-July!
Also, to address the speculation regarding her wellness and lifestyle, there is literally nothing about Madonna’s trajectory that seems unusual to me. It would have been quite normal for her to use pain-fighting medication during the period surrounding her bionic upgrade surgeries on her hip and knee. Everyone does. She most likely has a private concierge doctor like the majority of wealthy people do, and so it would be easy for her to get her hands on any medication she wants, but Madonna is a proud and stable mother who has a holistic view on health and wellness. She is also from a family with a history of addiction issues, and so she would most probably be well versed in all matters pertaining to the psychology of addiction. This leads me to believe she isn’t going to destroy her health with longterm abuse of any substance.  As a result of her body aging, she has also clearly allowed herself over the last few years to relax a good deal more than she ever used to. If that means enjoying a drink or two and smoking a little ganja, who cares? I used cannabis to help me with insomnia after suffering a nervous breakdown several years ago. Now that I have stopped and have faced my issue differently, I am aware that it wasn’t a longterm solution. However, when you are faced with biological issues that you have no agency over  like pain or insomnia, you do what you can to get through it while you get to the root cause of the problem. That doesn’t mean that you throw all caution to the wind and become despondent with no self-awareness. I’m sure that Madonna has the right mindset to face whatever she needs to at any given time. Sometimes we just have to go easy on ourselves, and then we figure it all out. Keep the faith! Life is beautiful!

Yeah. I respect it as part of her journey or whatever but it’s meh. I wish Has To Be was an “official” part of the album. Ending it on a more hopeful moment like that works far better.

That miserable little turnip Roger Friedman posted a story on his “news” site in which he insinuates the health issues could be a publicity stunt because, as he claims, ticket sales for the tour have been “soft”. Then he specifically mentions Vulgar as being a flop. First of all, as we all know ticket sales have been great. Second, why focus on that song and not the widely reported success of this one? Yet another example of the biased, selective reporting she so often receives.

True. I doubt she’s just swanning about like Tay Tay though.

Looking For Mercy is one of the best songs she's ever made and it's not getting enough recognition.

I’m surprised by all the calls for WTG to replace Cherish.
WTG is a rewrite of LIB so having them both on there seems redundant. 
Cherish isn’t a song I care much for but the IC mix is the one I find most tolerable, so I say leave it.
Upon release I vaguely remember being annoyed w/some of the edits more than the remixed tracks. I learned to love the whole thing though, flaws and all. It all works. 

That announcement could’ve been so much worse. Gives us all a wake up call for how hard we are on her. I wish her a complete recovery and she could tour when she gets better if that’s in a month or six months. I’m fine with it. get well Madonna.
