I’ve never been a huge fan. Just some songs now and again. I saw her on tv perform at Sydney World Pride before Kylie and she lip synced the entire thing. Kylie put her to shame.

But when Brat came out i gave it a listen a loved it. its a truly brilliant album.

Id never been a fan, I do like some random songs. i never got into Brat, I struggle with peer pressure :D

What about 35 plus gay men who think they’re rebels cos they do coke and ketamine?

That's sad especially if it's an addiction for them. Though i don't know why you asking me that since i don't drink alcohol, i don't smoke and i don't do any drug.

I have never heard a song by this Charli person.

Can you suggest a song or two I should give a listen to?

Apple is the big viral hit , but I think Sympathy Is A Knife has the best mix of vulnerable lyrics + beat

Also, does anyone else find it weird that a song about like... family dynamics and intergenerational trauma becomes a viral TikTok dance song?  Lol

So we're gonna have a brat twerking 66 M next ... and the gen Z could say "Oh Madonna, you know, my grandma said she loved her when she was a teenager, she was huge at that time." It's a good thing, wich will make us so proud of her, especially if some brat inflencer will ever post appreciation for her, feeling cool cause she understands the "vintage charm" of her songs, maybe not even knowing how brater than Charlie M has really been all her career through.

I mean, what's the point in following kids or contemporary charts logic (you tube and spotify random listenings could never be compared with the actual money spending in getting a record for your own imo, sorry).  The only real youngest audience intersting phenomena were the Back that up and the Frozen remix virality, wich were mostly casual and it's ok it went like this imo.

But thinking that a mostly 35 to 50 yo gay men fandom, who had to check on google what even "brat" meant and are starting to understand that no proper music project is in store for them, could exult for a Charlie CXC collab is a sign of exceeding optimism. She said, in 2022 I think, that she would have used different methods to release music, no real albums, and I thought "this could be right actually and even cool", but I would have never imagined she meant "Vulgar", "Material gwooorl" and "Hung up on Tokisaha", whose only real effect was to enlarge the limit of many here to spread unconditional acceptance to the world

What I mean is that, when it comes to music (now seriously), it's like she's not thinking about her fanbase anymore. Yeah we had Popular (the only one I didn't trash after the first listening, wich I actually still enjoy), but - you know - just one feauturing in 6 years ...

She really took the saying "The apple doesn't go to far from the tree" (I think it was like that) and ran with it and made a song

I think I am one of the only very young straight fans of Madonna. I hope to be proven wrong lol (well maybe on the very young part)

I don't think some people realize when they post they look like a grouchy old man screaming "get off my lawn" at children.

I'll take that, even if the whole tone was mostly meant to be playful ... that's about the grounchy.

About the "old man", well, yes I admit it. I feel less considered by her recent choices, it's true. This doesn't mean I don't want youngest to have fun of course, I'm just missing some new stuff wich I can enjoy :cute:

That's the thing about art and capitalism though.  Artists don't owe their fans anything.  They either do what they want for their own personal expression, or they do what they think will sell.  Fans can either buy it or move on to someone else.

She said she was thinking to make and release music in a different way, if I remember correctly she said that making an album requires a vision and a lot of work and time, that albums sales are not the same as before, also because music fruition has generally changed. Her point was she would have tried new ways and strategies to release her stuff in the near future. That didn't mean she would have never made an album anymore, let me clear that  If I'm not mistaken once again, this happened on one of her social media account, maybe one of her live Q&A or something. What I remember 100% is that I thought it was reasonable and not a bad idea,  it could have been an interesting new experience for us. Unfortunately I don't remember where it happened so I don't have links, but I'm sure someone could help us so I can also read myself better her precise words :cute:

Well I honestly don't think capitalism have much to do with it. I studied capitalistic culture for years and I don't see the link between someone saying basically two things, that following the youngest audience is not happening to be a succesful strategy and that a part of her fandom is waiting since a very long time for something new that they can really enjoy, with capitalism or capitalistic culture. I'm not demanding anything, I don't feel entitled to demand anything. I can leave her whenever I want exactly as I can comment her choices and express my thoughts and hopes. Cause that's the only thing that happened.

Artists make music to sell and make money.  Capitalism.  It's up to the consumer to decide whether or not they want to buy, but it's not up to the consumer to tell them what type of music to make (which is often where standoms feel like since they've supported an artist for a certain number of years they feel entitled to demand that an artist makes their art in a certain way that's palatable to them).

I see your point. I didn't say to anybody what to do, I simply expressed my frustration and mostly joked about this nth collab and the previous ones. I don't talk to M here, I talk to you about M, my feelings or thoughts, your feelings or thoughts.

I thought artists were here to disturb the peace

Exactly.  I didn't become a fan of her in the 80's, because I wanted this or that from her. I became a fan because of the artist she was and evolved into.  I don't expect her to record or release anything unless it's what she wants to release. After all, she's the artist. It's her expression, not mine. I either can just enjoy the ride or get off at any time.  And believe me, there were a time or two I thought about getting off, but more than not she reeled me back in, wooing me with her art.  At this point in her career, I don't expect hit songs or huge success from her.  While I'd love to see her have another successful top 10 or #1 song, but I just know it will never happen especially on her own as a solo artist. She's hit that mark where most artists at this stage at their career are either forgotten or become highly nostalgic. I feel she's the latter. What is different about Madonna, she isn't accepting it. She still has the same ambition and drive as she did when she was a young artist.  But of course, she's older and she's evolved, so she has different things to express and different ways she want to express it in her music.  Still, she's very connected to what is fresh and current, but unfortunately because of her age, people are so desperate to put her out to pasture.  But guess what?  She keeps coming back!  She's still making waves and still inspiring generations of people. Again, it may not be at the impact she used to have, but she's still here doing it her way.  I wouldn't have any other way.  :luv:

she is trying too hard to fit in with the younger public

she need to relax and forget the age thing , she was more mature with ray of light and confessions

talk about things in the real life , i like her to see her sexy and good  looking but trying like a 20 year old does just not work !

Having a toy boy does not help

but i hope she will release some killer  new song that connects to  everybody

Since the beginning of her career she always hung out with people younger than her.  This is just who she is.  She's always been a head of the curve or right there with whatever is happening at the time.  I don't think she's trying too hard at all. I think she's just staying up with the trends as she's always done.  Also, she's always favored the urban side of things. But even with her pop efforts, more than not, she's collaborated with producers and writers younger than her.  Stuart Price was in his 20's when he started working with Madonna. She's nearly 20 years older than him.

This Charli remix thing isn't even real it seems, just a rumor and yet look at your post...

What does it have to do with the "age thing"? Does she have to work only with 60+ years old people now? What  does "more mature" even mean? Have you listened to Madame X, her last album to date, that deals with a lot of subjects other than "sexy and good looking"?

People like you are so disturbed and triggered by her way of living that's funny. You guys are the ones obsessed with age, not her.
