I never understood how people could hate Superstar and Shoo-bee-doo yet cream themselves over a 7" edit of Cherish. Literally Superstar is the same damn song as Cherish just released when people couldn't have a nostalgic attachment the way they could to the 80s.

You said it, more than just herself it was the way the industry evolved, which if of course maybe not the most ethical thing in the world but an agreement between two parts is an agreement in the end. They're not forcing the songwriter to sign any paper. Like any other industry, those with power never get the shorter end of the stick. On the other hand: you're Madonna, Beyoncé, you name it, you've worked your ass off all your life to get where you are, what you bring to the table is yourself, your brand. And yes, a 15% of a lot is still more than a 100% of nothing. Sometimes that writing credit for an unknown songwriter can lead to a profitable songwriting career, others can amount to nothing. It's tricky, but the whole music industry is, let's be honest. And for songwriters is a dog's life.

What's funniest is everyone s**ts on "MDNA" for that (the ghost songwriting or adding credits and percentages) when it was already happening on the "Ray Of Light" album: Susannah Melvoin not only officially co-wrote "Candy Perfume Girl", but also "Swim", but never got a co-writing credit for that one. But hey, no one dares to s**t on that album, of course. Selective narrative, I guess.

Alpha reacted to Aiwa08 in How Important Are Madonna’s Lyrics to Non-English Speakers?
I'd like to start a discussion for those fans whose first language isn’t English (of course, people who are native English speakers are invited to debate). When talking about Madonna’s songs, the subject of lyrics often comes up—whether one song has more mature lyrics, or another is more superficial, for example.
Personally, I can read English well, but I’ve never left my country, so I struggle to fully understand spoken English unless I have subtitles or the song lyrics in front of me. I mention this because, for a long time (especially before I learned English), I enjoyed Madonna’s songs more for the melody and the music, rather than the meaning of the lyrics, which felt secondary. However, I’ve noticed that for people who are fluent in English, the lyrics play a significant role in how much they enjoy the song.
So, I’d like to ask those whose native language isn’t English: when you listen to a Madonna song, how important are the lyrics to you? I like knowing what the song is about, but for me, the melody and the rhythm of Madonna’s voice often matter more than the lyrics when I want to enjoy her music. Of course, this happens to me with all non-Spanish songs.
P.S.: I’m not saying the lyrics aren’t important, but sometimes, due to the language barrier, they become secondary. I always make an effort to understand Madonna’s songs by reading the lyrics (as I mentioned, I can understand written English almost without a problem).

"When she started out working with Madonna, Caresse was this vivacious, happy girl, and the longer she was with Madonna, her life changed dramatically. Being with Madonna was very toxic to her."
This part of Caresse's sister's statements is very revealing to me.
If you decide to work as Madonna's manager, you should definitely know that the job will not be easy. Working under pressure all the time, keeping her on top at all costs, putting up with her constant mood swings or satisfying even the smallest and most absurd of her whims  will challenge anyone's mental stability. Those who feel they can't deal with it all would be better off managing insignificant, middling artists like Jessica Simpson, Hillary Duff, Usher, Ricky Martin, Thalia, Robbie Williams, etc. who won't put them under high levels of stress because their careers are practically dead.
Nobody forced Caresse to be the manager of such a complicated personality as Madonna, but sometimes family members tend to blame third parties out of anger or pain. Fortunately, Madonna decided not to name or speak about Caresse anymore, and I think that is the right thing to do in these cases so as not to exacerbate the negative feelings of her family.

Yeah very odd to think since it was always so omnipresent. Also the red bracelet! So iconic!

Love Spent is seriously the most Britney out of all the tracks. Lyrically its like a Blackout reject and sonically it's a Femme Fatale reject. I can understand the appeal of most madonna songs i don't like like La Isla Bonita or I'll Remember, but Love Spent is beyond wretched and not only a downer but you can tell shr was being serious when doing it. Just friggin awful. And then those banjos!?!? People complaining about gunshots but have nothing to say about the banjos!?

Honestly I think a part of her has given up in that sense. I think this past decade has probably given her the biggest headache in terms of everyone's BS. I would like to think she's happy and that she feels a new sense of freedom to create on her own time. When you take othet artists into account like Cher, Janet, Cyndi...are they REALLY outdoing her? Are they having enormous hits? No. Yet Madonna is the one being called a flop because she's held to some impossible standard.

Guy isnt to blame, it's down to Madonna. The purpose of the manager is to get shit done because they will make money if their talent makes money. Do u honestly think Guy wouldn't rather make money and let Madonna flop? Do u think he isnt aware of the money he couldve made money off a Blond Ambition DVD? Madonna has the final say. Now her hole is dug too deep. Fans also seen to forget she's sabotaged herself plenty of times during the Warner years. Too stubborn over the final single for Music so she just let it fizzle out. GHV2 could've had a new track that could've been a hit but she was too pissed at Warners and let a celebration of the second half of her career be a lazy compilation. Even MDNA, she didnt do any promo because she herself was over all the promo she did for WE. Guy I'm sure was seeing the writing on the wall and probably was the one who made her attempt a course correct with little interviews. I can guarantee, if she were to get a new manager nothing would change because it's MADONNA who doesn't listen.

I don't think its a matter of belief. Its very very obvious Madonna has not had a robust honest team around her for some time regarding her work .We have seen for ourselves and heard enough from those who may have tried to give her advice that its not welcome and she will do what the inner sanctum of sycophants and leeches is blowing up her arse

Well take it with a grain of salt but there's this film podcast/youtube channel and they discussed Diablo Cody/the biopic when she first left the project. They were pretty catty but started talking about Diablo's experience (apparently the hosts are good friends with Diablo) and mentioned how happy Diablo was but then how she was horrified because Madonna's team really hasnt a clue and felt they had to explain her Madonna was and not even in a good way and put emphasis on how she used to be the wife of sean penn. They kinda implied Diablo had alot of sympathy and was horrified how her team was/is. I've also heard that all the gays around her tell her she looks so great etc then will laugh about her behind her back. Of course this is all hearsay but I believe it.
