I love it (also always skip Cry Baby but do love the ending) - It's the muddy mastering that annoys me.
Hopefully it gets a proper remaster so it doesn't sound like it's been ripped from an old cassette (which is how I originally listened to it anyway).

I have always loved this album, it's a masterpiece and He's a man is a great opening of the album. I love that song, it's the best track on the album imo. I agree that Vogue was misplaced on this album.

and I agree the bare bones single mix of "Hanky Panky"  is much better than the album version. This fanmade video is perfectly done.
 

Besides Cry Baby, I think the album is flawless. It's actually my top 5 favs 
He's A Man alone is one of her best album tracks! 

Absolutely agree, an actual band playing those songs would have made a huge difference. The production, as it stands, cheapens the entire aesthetic of the album. As a musician, it pains me to hear those tracks sometimes. The little bits featured in Bloodhounds of Broadway came out much better, even though what's featured in the film had to be rerecorded during post production, it's a more natural sound that fits the era with I Surrender Dear compared to the Breathless tracks. I'm Breathless could've been a real masterpiece if it wasn't marred by this production and included a couple more tracks without tacking on Vogue which really should have been an exclusive for The Immaculate Collection with JML and RM.

I adore this album. I think it's really well written, incorporating elements of jazz, modern pop, whimsical liners, yet still managing to sneak in personal bits.
While, yes, I do understand what you are saying musically, I hear that specifically with Back in Business, but certainly not the other songs. It doesnt take away the beauty of the record itself.
The only song I dislike is Cry Baby.

I know that many fans don't like this album. Personally, I like it. For me it's something like a concept album before that became a fashion.

The only thing that bothers me is the cheap music on some of the tracks. Especially "He's A Man", "Hanky Panky", "I'm Going Bananas", "Something To Remember" and "Back In Business" sound like they were played on some cheap Casio keyboard. The Bare Bones Single Mix of "Handy Panky" is so much better than the album version. And I think all the songs above would have turned out better if real instruments had been used. I mean, it's a 1930 inspired album after all.

Looking forward to your opinions.

P.S. The only song I dislike is "What Can You Lose", but that's because I don't like Mandy Patinkins vocals.

I think Stereo MC could have been a great choice. Also, the Dallas Austin Remix had a good concept. It’s very Melanie C Never Be The Same Again, but very halfbaked and unfinished sounding.
The song deserved so much more than what it got.

Proper drum and bass remixes of The Power of Goodbye by M Beat or Adam F or Goldie would have popped the fuck off. BT and Sasha or Brothers In Rhythm could have done some dark epic house with it too. They just chose bland remixers who sucked the life and beauty out of the song. 

They added Sky Fits Heaven remixes to this single because DW/SFL was not particularly fit for club mixes. It’s not allowed to be labeled Sky Fits Heaven because Madonna made a deal with poet Max Blagg, from whom she lifted a bunch of the lyrics for the song.
Blagg wouldn’t receive writing credit as long as the song wasn’t released as an official single.

It's not good. It's really missing 150.000-200.000 potential streams on the first week on Spotify, which is very good for her in terms of image and profit.
The only thing they need to do is releasing it as a 2023 release and later update it to 1998. It's easy as f**k and they've done in the past with most of the other old singles.

Personally I like that they are fixing the date issue

Well, that remix is automatically marked as copyrighted on the description, so that's a sign that the digital release is coming. Same happened with the "Hollywood" remixes, flagged on YouTube weeks before the digital single release.
I'd say this Friday is a good chance, the original release was August 24 1998.
