@Blue SkiesThat's right I forgot about that. In fact, I thought that happened at the Grammys or AMA's, but you are right, it happened at the VMA's that year.  Though, he didn't take the award from her.  He simply interrupted her acceptance speech, by taking her mic and blabbering on about Beyonce having the best video of the year.  What a schmuck he was (and still is).  It's odd how he still is able to get a lot of artist support (even from Madonna) considering he's gone off the rails. 

I also do remember some getting a little worked up over how Miley danced and was dressed in 2013.  Even Cher criticized her.  LOL!  Weird being I saw that performance and I've recalled far more risque movements and attire from years before even from men.  Hell, both Prince and Howard Stern both wore buttless pants in the early days of the Award's shows.  People thinking the MTV AWARDS show is supposed to be a "family type show" obviously have no idea how that awards show works.  LOL!

@Blue SkiesThey do air the show numerous times for some time after still.  I suspect it's "on demand" as well after it's original airing.  But as you said, it's been pretty boring for years now.  I never hear anyone kicking up any sort of controversy these last years for their appearance as Madonna has in the past. At least in the 80's and 90's, you knew someone beside Madonna would do something outrageous even if you're not interested in them.  These days, people are much more reserved on these awards shows and on a rare occasion barely make any noise after making an appearances.  And there have been a few times that I've heard some buzz on someone's appearance and/or performance and when I come across it, it really is nothing.  Most lip sync their performances anymore as well. 

@Blue SkiesYeah, the MTV Awards really has lost its appeal, but so has MTV since they've gone to reality Television. Even if she did put on an epic performance these days, very few people would be tuned in for it.  Then again, a lot of those performances that make any noise would go viral on the internet, so tuning in live is pretty useless these days.  I've not cared much about the awards show since the 2000's. 

@Brendanlovesu1The Beatles, Richard Lester and David Bowie all won the award the first year it was issued in 1984.  Neither I or anyone claimed it was "his award" from the get go.  MTV decided to name it after him because they considered him a groundbreaking video artist by 1991.  Once again, rightfully so.  It had nothing to do with MJ being insecure. It was MTV's choice, not his. Even more, he had no reason to feel insecure at that time in his career.  He was on top of the world at that time and his videos were huge success at the time.

But he did win the award. It was named after him, three years after he was given the award.  By 1991, he was considered a "ground breaking video artist".  Rightfully so!  It had nothing to do with Madonna.  It was MTV's choice to rename it after him.  That all being said, I don't think it should be named after anyone.

Yeah, I'd love to hear something new or unheard of at this point.  Fans are starving and being the beginning of the tour has been postponed, just makes us hungry for more.  

I, too, saw it when it was first released.  It wasn't necessary a "packed" theater when I went, but it was far from empty either.  I do recall a lot of people acting grossed out when the two detectives at the end started to make out.  LOL!

We have to keep in mind, with the tour originally starting in July, the store would have been updated by now with a lot of nostalgic merchandise related to the tour.  Chances are there was always the intention to hold off in any re-issue, or possibly it was intended to go along with the tour merchandise as well. 

I'm still hopeful and of course, speculating. Anything is possible, but I guess we won't really know now, until the tour starts.

Unfortunately, the problem is "we are expecting".  And while I understand the frustration, but playing devil's advocate here, nothing was promised on the anniversary of her first album.  But yeah, is this it?

My guess, there is more coming, but they are going to drag it out, which could be good too, because it may create a bit more hype for the upcoming tour.  And that's another thing, maybe there was more planned, but the postponement of the tour, made them to rethink how to handle the next few months before the tour.  I wouldn't be surprised if more things are on the way. 

Yeah, the look on the darker cat, is very representative of how fans feel right now.  It's like "Really? This is how you are celebrating your first ever landmark album?" 

The objective side of me, still feels like there is more coming, but they are just going to spoon feed us things.  I do eventually believe an expanded Deluxe will happen for the first album, but when... who the fuck knows? LOL!

@PrayerSo I must be thinking of when I've seen the actual image a zillion times without the bar throughout the internet. For instance when you google Madonna's debut album cover, there are images where the bar is cropped out. 

@PrayerI agree with it being part of the original design.  I just thought there were copies without, but maybe I'm mistaking? I looked at my CD and it has the black bar as well.  And yeah, I don't believe someone "forgot to crop it out" either. As you said, it's on the inner sleeve as well.

Yes most versions I've seen have the bar.  I'm asking if there are without the bar as I've thought I"ve seen copies without as well. You've pretty much answered my question with the Discog link!
