I love the video from Lisbon we have. It's a raw video with her real voice and her real face, no effects. I'd rather have this than an official DVD where she sounds fake. 
I love the pro shots of the Sticky and Sweet from Lisbon and Athens too. These recordings are close to the concerts I attended in Paris. 

After reading through the last seven pages, I’d love to add some of own memories from attending the 2 Lisbon shows. 
 
I went to Lisbon because we had it on good authority that they were filming the last two shows, in Lisbon for CBS/DVD.
I was in the pit both nights and our line to queue was at the back of the arena, next to the loading dock. Parked nearby was an HDTV Broadcast Production Trailer.

When we were brought into the pit, we entered the arena through the loading dock. We got to see all the sets and props, it was thrilling. As we walked into the pit, it was confirmed that they were filming the show on for a “CBS Special”.  

I was in the stage right pit for both nights and it was obvious they were filming - so many cameras - most notably a camera operator actually inside the pit. The first night they filmed the show from the pit opposite me, the second night they were in my pit. The large crane operated cams also switched sides on the second night.  
Then came the wait for the dvd release. I can’t personally recall the moments around the CBS deal falling through, but I do remember spending at least a year waking up every morning, logging into madonnatribe and hoping to see an announcement for the DVD. The feeling of desperation in the fan community was so palpable that, several times, there would be some sort of quasi-official “it’s still coming” tidbit from Madonna.com/icon. Meanwhile, M spent late 2004 doing another round of PR for children’s books, which left most fans feeling unengaged.
We were also very aware at the time that a separate documentary was filmed (with concert footage filmed in Paris) in addition to the “DVD”. 
Time moved forward and eventually I’m going to tell you a secret was released on MTV in October 05, just a few weeks before Confessions hit stores.
There was some cross promo with Orange or Vodafone, I don’t remember the specifics, but definitely low quality clips of Burning Up and Die Another Day from Lisbon were definitely available on someone’s website. (Can someone find evidence of this?) Eventually those two songs were leaked online in much higher quality. The day that the full recording from the first night came out in 2010, was like Christmas. 

Having gone both nights, when I see myself in different shots from the footage we have, I can identify the exact show based on the color of my shirt. 
For Example, the 2010 footage shows me wearing the gray shirt that I wore on at the first show.
 

While this shot, comes from the recently leaked Don’t Tell Me footage shows me wearing the blue shirt I wore on the second night. The die another day and burning up videos also only show me in the blue shirt. 

 
I wish I had more dirt as to the why it all happened, but I can at least provide a first hand account from when it happened. Hope this helps to answer some questions from the last 7 pages!

Over and over should have been a single but there were so many already. The message is so Madonna. 

A frenetic and confusing era. So much happening in the most chaotic album campaign she's ever delivered. Literally everything she touched turned to gold. I was thinking of happen Chappel Roans success with Good Luck Babe has ignited an interest in her debut album to the point where the songs from it have started charting long after the album was released and she'd moved on. Much like Madonna /The First Album especially in the UK. 
I love dick so much but Madonna in 1985 Desperately Seeking Susan is the sexiest woman I've ever seen on this planet. I love her 1986 + lean look but those puppy fat years were everything. I think the straight men would agree. Curvy, just got out of bed Madonna is pure sex. Her purest incarnation and one I wish had gone on a little longer tbh. 

I know we as a fanbase tend to almost gloss over Like a Virgin (and Material Girl) because it is so over played and over talked about but it truly is a perfect piece of pop craftsmanship.

Madonna's performance and Niles' production are amazing, I love that real instruments are used and that it isn't drowned in synths and gated drums like 99% of the pop music of time.
The song of course fits Madonna like a glove that the fact she didn't write it makes one wonder if it was sent from above because it had to happen. I love that she always twist the song inside out in every live performance giving yet a new meaning and dept to it, genius.

Like A Virgin (the song) turns 40 on October 31, (The album) on November 12.

It was such an iconic moment in Madonna's career when everything suddenly happened and she became the HIT girl!
It all started at the Keith Haring birthday party (called The Party of Life) on May 16 at The Paradise Garage New York where Madonna could already showcase both the title track and Dress You Up in an advance of 6 months to the actual release of the album delayed due to the late success of Lucky Star on the US billboard charts that August 1984.
 
So what follows that May 1984 is Madonna's face becoming more and more familiar to Mtv viewers which starts playing Borderline and Lucky Star non stop and interviewing her. Up until August 84 when Madonna attends a NYC music seminar immortalized by Mtv as well...
 
Finally up to September 14 1984 when the world would get face to face to Madonna's powerful sexy performance of Like A Virgin at the very first Mtv Video Music awards (well as we know we also got face to face to her panties!)
 
The Like A Virgin album produced by Chic's Nile Rodgers would be presented at a New York City party (guest would include Jean Michel Basquiat, Warhol, Keith Haring, John Jellybean Benitez Madonna's then boyfriend etc) on November 7, 1984 at the Private Eyes nightclub.

During December 1984 Madonna also took Uk by storm performing Like A Virgin on Top Of ThE Pops , but what would follow in 1985 would be a roar turning every girl on the planet into a Madonna wannabe filled with laces, bras, rubber bracelets and most of all crucifixes... the Madonna mania was just exploding taking Madonna to promote the album in Japan and in April to a North American tour (The Virgin tour).

Music and American Life. Music and Confessions too!

On a serious note, Music and American Life is the most correct choice. They're literally two sides of the same coin, both american folk sound mixed with techno. MUSIC is baiting the audience with the americana image, and ends up being the more trippy and psychedelic album among the two; AL is the tormented and raging version of the first and ironically puts more on emphasis on the american folk souns rather than the dark electronic vibe of it.
It's actually so fun how both these albums are so united by the similarities in their production, yet end up being the complete opposite thematically. Actually Spacey trippy album with folk vibes for the one promoted with a country yeehaw ass cover, and midlife crisis inspired, traditional folkloristic tales for the album that shows itself as dark and bad and rebel

It definitely would have won Best Picture and Best Actress that year if it hadn't been for "Out Of Africa" and that twat Meryl Streep.

Well, fortunately for us, she decided to go with The Next Best Thing and Swept Away, instead. 😍

She was in talks with John Waters to star in "Cecil B. Demented" before Melanie Griffith got the part.

I think the closest she got to something supernatural was Bedazzled...she was going to play the devil which ended up going to Liz Hurley...also I guess Batman as well? Does that count? Both Cat Woman and Harley Quinn...ohh and she did mention the Matrix as well!

Madonna would’ve been great as the Egg Lady in Pink Flamingos!
