Also the whole era was traumatizing for the fans cause around the end of the tour and the start of the covid crisis I think that´s when she kind of lost her mind, and we couldn´t believe the milk bath with petals of roses speaking about covid being the great equaliser, the injuries, the very strange face, the terrible instagram posting, Madonna losing her physical shape, and then the start of the bizarre singles and the woke messages non stop. But the good news is that, despite it all, she managed to return as the Madonna of always, at least in professionality and mood and face, for the big Celebration tour, one of her greatest ever. Also I rediscovered the album a few months ago and ok, it´s not my favourite, but I could enjoy it a little better, without any expectations, than at first when I disliked it totally.

Human nature, she can´t top the MDNA 2012 amazing performance of it.
I love her to revisit You´ll see, an amazing song,  loved by anybody. But, if she is going to care about her vocals.

I appreciate this album a lot but i feel like there's still so much wasted potential to It. The ugly visuals and terrible uninspired deluxe album cover, the robotic vocals, and the missed chance of it to being either more cohesive and sticking to its Portugal inspired theme or a whole journey all around the world (Imagine even more traditional music by other countries like China or Japan and even more, what a cool concept imo) but still has so fillers like Medellin, I Rise and overall silly songs that just dont do much (talking about you Bitch and Gostoso). The tour was ok but overall such a terrible era imo, brave inspired piece of work tho.

You´ve got to be perfect vocally on things like that. If she would take care of the voice and no grillz, maybe, but I feel like Rebel Heart was the last time she really cared about vocals, on terms of training and all of that.

The thing is, hearing her sing just that little bit of Let Your Light Shine at the Rio concert out of no where was such a reminder of what a hypnotic voice she has. She wasn’t trying and she just sang in whatever key landed easily. But you’re right, if she couldn’t vocally shine in a theatre setting, then this would just highlight even more. But she could still pull off a few well rehearsed songs in a key still conducive and her being relaxed.

What's really interesting post 90 is 96-98. She got pregnant, had an actual successful film and won the golden globe, and had one of the best albums of her career and set a standard for all albums post childbirth yet in 2003 told matt laur it was her most depressing time (at that point) because she had all these things but was alone. What's interesting about Madonna is that she shares so much we think that we know everything that there is to know but there's so much more!

i´m a sinner is very funny, Falling free is one of her most beautiful songs ever, and Love Spent is a gem that most of fans love.

Yes but also everything whas first rate : vocals, image, clips, songs, production, cover, promo, top notch.

I think it´s also very interesting ROL never sold 25 millions of copies or not all the songs were number  1 as it happened with True Blue, when, you know, ROL is the state of art, magnus opus kind of record that very few singers own on their carreer. And everybody, critics, fans agree. She was at her best. So why it was not an even great commercial success, even though it was a huge success, and I know it cause I was there. But why albums by Adele or other ladies sold much more later when there was the streaming, and I don´t think those albums are so well regarded as ROL is. It´s interesting. And there you have, an amazing single like NRM with an outstading videoclip just went to 93 on the US charts. In Spanish it was a radio hit for sure.

That era felt very confusing. American Life... about babysitters? And then the video (I'm doing it, No I'm not!) Then she dressed up like a revolutionary, smoking pot, going to Kensington High Street, reading her children's books. James Bond, Guy, the Queen. Breathless she's not.

In Europe we had Drowned World single and video being a great succes before, so NRM was the fifth single really, and although the song and the video are amazing, the amazing ROL era was already and clearly fading out and they were cooking the beautiful stranger singe and video, that were huge also a few months later, still NRM for me as an european, was a success and a classic of hers, mostly due to that famous videoclip. So not really a problem here.

I liked a lot their collaboration on MDNA, oks not as legendary as the rol work but for me it was still good and very underated. Hope they would do more things together again.
